  1. I just picked up a definitive technology powerfield 18. I can't find much info on this. It's not the older 1800, it's the 18 that had an auto on/off. It has a 425 watt amp. Not sure how low this sub of supposed to go. I hooked it up to my system (unhooked my Cambridge soundworks psw1). In order to hear the sub, I had to go into the levels in and raise it up a ton. It sounded good. I ran an audessey setup, it adjusted everything, put the sub back down, and I can't hear it again. I raised it again to be able to hear it. If I hook up the Cambridge, it's really loud. Do I need to change something on the sub, or is there a problem? Any suggestions?
  2. I am in the process of building a shelf to put my TV on. I am making different size legs to gradually get the TV higher. I will start with putting my KV-3 in there, and I just picked up a KLF-C7 yesterday, so that will be after we adjust. I may be taking the feet off of the TV stand. Thanks guys.
  3. I actually have KLF10s, KLF20s, and KLF30s. I really like the 10s. I got the 20s about 6 months after I got the 10s, and it was a huge difference. I got the 30s about a year after I got the 20s, and they are unbelievable. If you don't A+B compare the 10s to 20s or 30s, they sound great. When we A+B from the 30s down to the 20s, the 20s sound bad, same thing for the 20s down to the 10s. If you can pick them up cheap enough, its a great buy. I am using the 30s for my main fronts, the 10s for my sides, and my 20s are just picking up space. My wife wont let me put the 20s on the sides and the 10s in the rears. I just picked up the KLF-C7 yesterday, but I need to redo the front and rear panels (bad glue). I can't wait to hear it with the 30s. Good luck with your search.

I just happened to pick up a definitive technology powerfield 1800 along with a ton of other equipment. I read that it's rated down to 13 hz. Do any of you have any experience with this sub?
  7. Also has anyone tried the monoprice bluetooth hybrid tube/solid state amp?
  8. We usually listen to them about 8-10 ft away in bed. I'm located in Massachusetts. I've heard tube amps on a pair of heresy's with jazz. The guy that demo ed this, also demoed a pair of forte II's. He listens to rock on forte II's with a solid state amp.
  9. Hey, that's my age too
  10. I have a pair of belles that I would love to hear with a tube amp. I listen to classic rock, hard Rick, metal, etc. I'm currently running them with an old 2 channel Sony amp that sounds great. Is there a decent cheap tube amp that I could try? Even a basic diy kit could be cool. Anything for $100-200 or am I dreaming?
  11. Can someone give me accurate dimensions for a KLF-c7? I can't trust everything I have find online because the academy dimensions I found online were wrong when I measured my own. I am building a shelf for my tv for the center channel to fit under, and I'm going to try to build different size legs to accommodate different speaker options. Thanks
  12. it looks like they used epoxy or something that is dry and crusted
  13. I took apart my academy center channel the other day and noticed that the magnet on the tweeter horn came off. (I haven't been using the speaker). Is there a special adhesive to get this back together properly? I can put it back on, and it stays fairly well, but a lot of movement may bump it off. Thanks for the help, sorry if this is in the wrong section.

Any thoughts on the Sunfire HRS-12 High Resolution 12-Inch Subwoofer? It says it goes down to 16 hz.

This design looks pretty good and easy to build. Is this something to consider to get to the lower hz? What is this called to find plans? I'm also experimenting with the sonosub software to understand it first.

    Dude, thank you, that's awesome

Yea, I can't do that. So conventional or sonotube is the way to go.

For an IB, I would have to cut a hole in my floor, wall, or ceiling, right? Or could I just place a downward firing box on the floor? Sorry, these advanced subwoofers are very new to me.

I like the sonotube idea, but I know there is a ton of math to do to determine your dimensions, and I can't really find a ton of info on it. I can find a lot of finished projects, but not the basic information on how to start a build. I would like to keep it shorter than 21" which I believe means it needs to be wider. Then there is driver sizes, number of drivers, sealed or ports, size of ports, etc. How does this get determine? I think my Cambridge subs go down to 27hz. So I guess a good goal would be to get to 20hz?

So if you were running an rt-10d, what are you running now? Is it that much better than the triangle sub?

I can't go higher than the table unless I put the sub behind my tv and replaced my existing subs

As you can see in the pictures, I don't have a ton of room to work with as far as a cube goes. I have about 19 inches between the legs and about 21 inches of height clearance. I don't want to add a subwoofer just because, I want to add one that can produce lower frequencies that my Cambridge Soundworks PSW1 master and slave cannot. Thanks for the help.

It would be easier, but I am more limited with a cube because of the corner.
