  1. six feet long with 2 make rca at one end and1 female Eva at the other end

Are you sure it's a single female at the other end? Should be a male.

seems weird they would include it if it has no purpose

It actually does serve a purpose. There are some subs that will not work if you only plug in a single RCA. I don't understand it either since it is a mono signal. Maybe someone else can chime in why.
im sure it is single female there is spicy above in another comment
  2. Kelly, can you post a photo of what you do have? We are only guessing at this point.

Whether you have 1) A long cable (say 10'-20') with 1 Male RCA on one end and 2 Male RCA on the other end or 2) A long cable with 1 RCA Male on one end and 1 RCA Male on the other end and use a Y adapter (1 Female RCA on one end and 2 Male RCA on the other end).....there is no benefit to either...they both serve the same purpose.

sorry youth not home and won't be for a couple days so right now no pic but it is about six feet long with 2 make rca at one end and1 female Eva at the other end, seems weird they would include it if it has no purpose [emoji17]
  3. I bought a complete klipsch wiring kit, there is a cable that looks similar to a sub cable that has two male connections at one end and one female connection at the other, can anyone tell me what it's for? Thank u in advance;)

  4. First try to find an app on your iPhone. If that meets your needs, then great. Second try the ole Radio Shack meter.

Thanks buddy, appreciate the response [emoji106]

  5. Kelly, I don't believe anyone is angry but rather trying to give you as much applicable information based upon personal experience and knowledge.

Add in some usual ribbing amongst the seasoned forum members, and you have a well rounded assembly of responses. Stick around, enjoy the banter, and continue to ask questions when needed - this coming from a "newbie" myself.

    Post count rising……...

i got a little winky guy, like this[emoji12]I'm just trying to explain why the question came up and not to lose patience [emoji111]️

  6. in theory could I turn the volume to max without damaging anything

NO! As everyone here has mostly already said, there is no such thing as a meaningful "max." The VC isn't like a water faucet, with a pre-determined maximum outflow that all the other components could be designed to work with. If there was an industry standard for "max" (measured amplifier/receiver v. out), then you might be able to think of all-the-way-up as the reasonable "max" setting for that system. However, speaker efficiency is just one of the huge unknowns in this equation, probably makes an industry standard impossible.

Lacking such a standard, one receiver's max can take the amp and speaker output beyond the moon and blow everything out, while another's might not do that. Depending on speaker efficiency, too. The industry will tend to go too far rather than fall short.

With apologies for putting it this way, you are very unclear regarding just what "max" means. You would harm your setup if you took your concept seriously. Like blowing out all your woofers.

I am not planing on doing this, I ask questions because I don't know the answer(have to start somewhere) the reason I ask, after I hooked up my new sub and receiver I had a friend that wanted me to turn it up all the way, I said no because I have no idea what would happen, so I got thinking about it and thought this would be a good place to ask, thanks for your feedback, sorry for making u angry [emoji12]

  7. The power rating for the speaker assembly is based on a carefully tailored signal and not continuous.

A tweeter is probably going to blow at 3 or 4 watts continuous and a mid may blow at 20 watts continuous, or less. The woofers are more robust.

The review of the Forte is around someplace. The reviewer fed it with something like 150 watt bursts but that was 1 millisecond on and 5 millisecond off -- or like that.

If you look at the windings of the voice coils for a mid, they are very fine wire and the ones for a tweeter are even more fine. They will melt with the current needed to put the above mentioned power into them. It is a wonder they survive the burst tests.

The overall power ratings of amps and speakers may give the impression it is like putting size 10 foot into a size 10 shoe. But that is not correct at all.

I've always had trouble understanding this part of it but I think I'm coming around but still sways to go, I appreciate your response

  8. You said towers--What kind of towers?

    What is the AVR?

Are we talking stereo only or more than 2 speakers at "Max Volume"?[/quot

    Rf82/x4100w just the two

  9. Are you going to run the speakers as Large or as small and use a sub with them is the big question? One of the functions of a good sub is to do the heavy lifting, dig deeper/cleaner/ increase avr headroom.

I run them as small with v1800 as backup, I do not plan on trying this

Have you moved the sw-115 to another area, or did have you integrated it into your primary listening area?
It is a 12, I put in the kids media room to help out there Polk 8", it sounds great with there system, rooms a lot smaller though

  10. How would I know where reference level is

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

SPL meter. Most people blow speakers using underpowered amperage than overpowered. Also, You have to consider source material, if it has a lot of bass, it could damage the 10's in the RF7's.
Will spl measure sound level and fr

  12. There are many factors which might destroy the speakers at max volume as Mr. Matthews pointed out, "watts per channel" is just one of them.

I know the question was theoretical, and I would say "yes" theoretically a 125 wpc AVR would be safe to run full tilt to speakers which can theoretically take 150 wpc.

My real world experience would say "don't push it" because you don't know how much power is actually being drawn by the speakers. Power is rated at a percentage of distortion such as .1 or so. The AVR run wide open might actually be capable of producing more power but with greater distortion.

In my case if I want to push things to their limit (my wife seems to think I'm good at doing that to her nearly every day, go figure  ) I use EQ and turn down ALL the settings, but especially the lowest and highest.

    This is definitely helpful

  13. Sure, theoretically your 150 watt RMS speakers should handle all of your AVR maxed @ 125 watts.

I mean, you could always try it, but really, how loud do you need your speakers to play to get that warm fuzzy feeling from owning them?

This sounds like a friend of mine who wanted to peg the speedometer in his Ford Cobra Mustang just to say he did over 150mph.

All was great with him & his pride ride until he crashed it beyond repair.

I wasn't considering doing it I was just curious, I've had them about 3/4 the way up and it was uncomfortable not to mention the sub knocks things off shelves at the other end of the house in the basement [emoji15] so then my question becomes why rate them that high if they can't handle this

  14. thanks bill, while I have your guys ears, at really high levels my tweeter on one side of my mains crackles , is this bad

It can be. Sometimes the source material is recorded or broadcasted poorly and can add audible distortion.

Does it happen very often with different sources?

    Bill

so far just with my iPhone and I can only hear it on slower music I was thinking it was the Bluetooth because my kmc3 has some crackle sometimes but I was concerned because I could only hear it out one side

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Switch the channels the speakers are on (just move the cables, each to the other speaker), and see if the crackle changes sides.
thats a great idea, I'll try that as soon as o get home and let u know

Well I tried what u said and it didn't do it at all one of the banana plug was loose so I spread it a bit when I put them back to correct speaker and crackle is gone thanks for your help guys [emoji445][emoji344][emoji344][emoji344]
