  1. I would pass on the 2nd set of SB3s and the 2nd sub. Either get the top Synergy floorstander or as mentioned put the money into the Ref line.
  2. I'm with you dude, I would love to see those characters. Hopefully the Silver Surfer will get his own movies.
  3. Those characters didn't really appear until the Silver Surfer had his own comic. He originally appeared in the FF as a herald for Galactus, who will hopefully be in the movie. And I'm even more hopeful that the Silver Surfer will get his own series of movies after this.
  4. http://www.apple.com/trailers/fox/fantasticfourriseofthesilversurfer/large.html This is going to be a very cool movie. They did a fantastic job on the Silver Surfer.
  5. Thanks Steven. I'm really leaning toward emusic, especially after reading that. So far only 1 indie band I searched for was not listed, which is amazing to me. I do have a fast braodband line. And I can stream through itunes to an airport express that is plugged in the receiver/pre pro via optical cable. Yourmusic is raising the price to $6.99 in January so there is only a $2 difference between 9 songs and 30. Plus DL.TV has a code to start off with 50 free downloads instead of 25. The DL.TV guys, Patrick Norton & Robert Heron, really like the sound quality of the emusic mp3s too. And they are more about sound quality than convenience. Funny thing about our identical systems. When I thought about it you were one of the guys who really helped me in the final days before I purchased it all. The big differences between our systems being the sub and you use a Denon where I went with a Yamaha. Both are very nice though.
  6. I currently have an account with your music. It is $5.99 a month and you get 1 CD a month. But you buy as many CDs as you want for $5.99 as long as your a member. But I've been thinking of switching to emusic. You get 30 downloads a month for $9.99 and they have a lot of the indie bands I like where your music doesn't carry them. They encode at 192 VBR. My biggest hang up is getting mp3s instead of CDs. What do you guys think? Stick with CDs oor get over it and get more of the music I like?
  7. The 5.1 track is outstanding. Skoonopa, that system looks really close to mine. 7 series with a B&K amp. I know it sounds wonderful.
  8. Speedball, on any of those sites you can password protect your photos.
  9. I use www.fotki.com. They have free and pid accounts. Other good places are www.smugmug.com www.flickr.com www.pbase.com www.photobucket.com
  10. The wife and daughter are gone so I took this and this and then turned the volume knob all the way to the right
  11. You will notice a difference between those 2 receivers. There is more at work there then just the amp section. You will be getting better processor power as well. And a better overall build. As far as the extra power goes, most speakers are blown from too LITTLE power resulting in clipping. As long as your levels are set correctly and you don't run it full volume you will be fine.
  12. DTS CDs, DVD audio, and SACDs all sound fantastic. I have the Police's greatest hits on SACD. It does not disappoint.
  13. check out www.bluejeanscable.com or the Dayton cables at www.partsexpress.com
  14. This is correct. The point behind taking things like zinc or echinacea is to prevent the virus from replicating which will shorten the duration pf the cold.
  15. Late to the party. Congrats on the new gig.
  16. I am still deciding on the final choices. I am thinking of either getting a Canon 28mm 1.8 and use it with my 50mm 1.8 and kit lens, or selling the kit and the 50 in favor of the 17-55mm 2.8 USM IS. The 17-55 will basically do everything the other 3 will do as good or better. But it will only work on the Rebels, 20D, and 30D. The 17-55 will not mount to a full frame camera so if I ever upgrade bodies I can't use it. Plus it is a $1000 lens. I also want to get the 70-300mm 4 USM IS.
  17. Great photos Colter. I can't wait to see the rest when you post them.
  18. Echinacea, Zinc, chicken soup, and orange juice works for me. The Echinacea and Zinc prevent the cold virus from replicating. Other than that something to treat the symptoms like Nyquil.
  19. I would love to hear your input Boom, and Colter's. My plan is to pick up a Canon 28mm 1.8 and a 70-300 IS USM. I have the 18-55 kit lens, 75-300 USM which I will be selling, and a 50mm 1.8, and a 430 EX flash. I think that for the shooting I will be doing those lenses will do what I need and fit the current budget. I also will be shooting events for the LGHS, like the annual convention. The 28 is a good, fast lens that will work well in low light. And it is a good combination of length and width for shooting the crowd and guest speakers.
  20. Thanks for all the replies. It's unanimous lenses it is. Thanks for the offer Colter. I have my next 2 lenses picked out, but I will definitely take you up on that offer for the rest. And you guys are right, that sub would get heavy lugging it around for snapshots. And for the record, I'm actually very happy with my sub. The 15" Titanic kit sub is a quite capable sub. But in the audio hobby it seems a lot of us get in the mindset of always looking at that next upgrade, even if what we already have is excellent.
  21. I'm torn. I was going to set a little money aside and replace my 15" Dayton Titanic mk 3 with a SVS PC Ultra. But having bought a Canon rebel Xt back in July I have a serious case of the photography bug. Now I'm thinking since the Titanic is a very nice sub, to put the money into more lenses for the camera. Due to a pending new arrival to my family this April I can't buy both the sub and lenses. That whole diaper and formula thing is going to override the need for more grown up toys. So what would you do?
  22. HD DVD and Blu Ray have the capability of far superior sound. But at the moment I don't believe there are any processors/receivers that decode the new DD and DTS formats. As said some of the players decode the formats and pass them via analog connection just like DVD Audio and SACD.
  23. Also keep in mind not enough power is more often responsible for blowing speakers than too much power.
