Suggestions needed for Integrated or Separate AMPs+Processor
BobbyT replied to SlaveToDesire's topic in Home Theater
B&K, Sunfire, and Rotel are favored here. I have a B&K Ref 200.5 amp and a Yamaha RX-V 4600 for a pre/pro and amp for the surround back and love the combination. I wanted the Yamaha for it's processing ability and i link connection. -
Call Klipsch or one of the moderators on the board and ask if either they have a pair of RF7s, or what it would take to have yours restored to new condition.

My understanding of the Ultra2 system is it sounds a lot better with good clean power. As nice as HK products are this system will not do near it's best on a mid level receiver. You could use the HK as a pre/pro and get a good outboard amp.

If UPS is taking responsibility, then make them pay whatever it cost to get them back in the condition they were in when you purchased them.

I never thought I'd see the day. But looking through the CC add this morning I saw Denon and Boston Acoustics on the front page.

Has the PULSE CD been released in Europe yet? I'm gonna spin Piper again tomorrow. Just can't get those haunting child-like melodies out of my head "I've got a bike, you can ride it if you like...." Michael I don't know if it's been released, I'll have a look. Now I suddenly have a craving for original pressings of these early records. Nothing better to reminisce while listening and looking at and reading those great covers. Tim this would be a good time to call Dad and get his Floyd vinyl and turn table. My Dad has never opened the posters in his DSOTM album.

probably not the answer your looking for, but I prefer Waters back in Pink Floyd with Gilmour. They were very tight when they played the live 8 show.

It is strange the seller won't allow local pick up as that would save he/she the trouble of packing them up and shipping them

he probably wants to know why you have to boot your pc to listen to your RF15s.

I just spun wish you were here since it is all about Syd. the local paper said that the members of Pink Floyd saw to it that Syd got all fo his royalties over the years. I thought that was cool.

Syd Barrett, one of the original founding members of Pink Floyd has left us. R.I.P QUOTE LONDON (AP) -- Syd Barrett, the troubled genius who co-founded Pink Floyd but spent his last years in reclusive anonymity, has died, a spokeswoman for the band said Tuesday. He was 60. The spokeswoman - who declined to give her name until the band made an official announcement - confirmed media reports that he had died. She said Barrett died several days ago, but she did not disclose the cause of death. Barrett co-founded Pink Floyd with fellow Cambridge student Roger Waters in 1965 and wrote many of the band's early songs. He got the name of the band from two old blues musicians, Pink Anderson and Floyd Council. Pink Floyd's jazz-infused rock made them darlings of the London psychedelic scene. It was the first British group to do light shows in concert and its music and style was weird even for that era. The 1967 album "The Piper at the Gates of Dawn" - largely written by Barrett - was a commercial and critical hit. The group, with additional band members Nick Mason and Richard Wright, came to be known as England's premier acid rockers. But the band did a turn for the worse when Barrett became mentally unstable from the pressures of drugs and fame and had to leave the band in 1968 - five years before Pink Floyd's most popular album, "Dark Side of the Moon." Barrett spent much of the rest of his life living quietly in his hometown of Cambridge. Guitarist David Gilmour, another Cambridge student, took Barrett's place. A small, private funeral would be held, the spokeswoman said.

Yeah the line up I listed isn't truely the original group. Neil Turbin sang on the very first album before they picked up Joey Belladonna. But the line up I listed is the one everyone knows.

I agree that adding outboard amplification makes a difference.

It's a great way to start off your home theater. and there are people that do it. if you want to stay 2 channel that's perfectly fine. The only thing you might want to consider is 2.1, adding a sub that is. A good sub will compliment your mains by hitting those low frequencies that are so common in movies now.
