  1. The baffle is just a part of the speaker, not good, not bad from a SQ point with the Reference line. Some people may care about the cosmetic of a baffle, not a major point for me since I leave the grills on. This is baffling
  2. As far as competition, my buddy who works at Magnolia came over to my house Thursday night to hear my system. He said they were a little bright for his tastes.......go figure though, he has the BW CM9's. I've never heard the CM9's but I have no doubt that while his may sound better for music, the RF7II's will easily best his for HT applications.
  3. They have screwed on feet. As for large home theater, the Pro line seems to be the way to go . RF7II are plenty for most people also. Yes, these speakers LOVE power, the more you feed them, the better they sound.
  4. Are you saying better mids because its 3 way?
  5. Oppo= Analog outs, bettter CS, Better resale, better chip >Marantz
  6. My thing was that the darbee edition doesn't have the marvel processing.
  7. True but for my needs the regular one suited me.
  8. Not the same but both pretty good. Yamaha RX-A1030 ESS Technology ES9006 SABRE™ Premier Audio DAC Oppo BDP-103 Cirrus Logic CS4382A (8-ch, 24-bit, 192khz) Bill Thanks for the clarification Bill. So both are good? Would you bitstream or pcm? basically, which one is better?
  9. No hissing what so ever. If I were you, I'd get the outlaw 7700 seven channel amp. Look at the specs, it's a monster
  10. Thanks for your insight. I'm thinking about getting one for myself. A side note, how do you like that Outlaw Model 7500? Definitely try it out for the 30 day trial period. I absolutely love my outlaw 7500!! I see you have an xpa, thinking of switching out?
  11. Both My receiver DAC is the same as the oppo, so I just send it bitstream to the receiver. Can't say I hear any difference with hdmi between the 2 players
  12. Do you run hdmi or analog for sound?
  13. Thanks all, nah, just the regular 103 because I don't have a projector, just a 65" Samsung led
  14. Not night and day, but very noticeable.
  15. Thanks man, probably would have been just as happy with the Sony 790 but what the hay.
  16. ok, I ordered this player and had my friend come over to A/B this player blinded, vs my Sony s5100. I watched 10 mins of 3 different movies, then he did also. Weird that we both picked the oppo for all 3 movies. Being a computer gamer, maybe that was the reason I picked the oppo because I'm used to anti alising and the filtering capabilities of a high end video card. The images looked sharper and more fluid. I was against the hype of the oppo, but I am man enough to say I was wrong. Build quality is also what people have described. Flame away however, that's just my opinion.
  17. I want that new marantz pre amp. 7702. That's going to be my next purchase. I know balanced doesn't matter except for long runs but I just want to lol. Let the wasteful spending begin. Oh, and another plus is that I'll get audessey x32
  18. http://www.soundvisionreview.com/hi-fi-home-theater/speakers/klipsch-rf-7-ii-review/ RF7II http://www.theabsolutesound.com/articles/klipsch-rf82-ii-loudspeaker-tas-211/ RF82II
  19. Scrappy, your placebo could be someone else's holy grail. Some people don't even know what distortion or clipping even sounds like. I'll try and find that article talking about the rf82's and how they sounded better the more power the reviewer fed it.
  20. I agree, amps are not for db levels, its about dynamics and clarity. I also agree about ATI, love my outlaw! 7II need an amp to make them really shine. Ymmv....but I doubt it
