  1. Unfortunately, I bought what I thought were upgraded x-vers called the Super AA crossover from Al KapPenPainInTheAssBerger. What a joke. Al K. is a joke. Don't waste your time, effort or intellectual curiosity on Al. He is a village idiot. -bob
  2. Deang -I bought a pair of Super AA's from AL they sound worse than the stock 40 yr old ones I replaced. Al took my old x-overs in trade so now I'm stuck with worse sounding x-overs. I was reading his marketing copy regarding the SUper AA's being a huge upgrade and now I just feel like I was grifted by Al. In fact, I reached out to Al and he just doesn't care. So sad. Please advise if the x-overs I have are salvagable.
  3. I recently acquired some vintage 1980 LaScala's. I immediately called Klipsch to order a pair of fresh K33 woofers. The crossovers were tired and I think leaking so I upgraded the x-overs. After listening to the speakers they seemed too bright and a bit shrill with a tab bit of distortion. Is the answer as simple as Do I replacing my diaphragms in all my horns or is it a problem with the x-over? Please advise.
  4. Sorry, I'm a noob. What does 9,5 Ohms minimum mean? Did you intend a period instead of a comma? i.e. (9.5 Ohms)
  5. I have some 1980 LaScalas and I replaced the woofers and would like to test the tweeter AND the mid horns. Does anyone have the acceptable ohm min/max range for the tweeter and mid horns? thanks bob

  7. Klipsch La Scala K33 15" Speaker - $20 - needs recone
  8. I have a circa 1980 K33B Square magnet woofer out of a La Scala. It needs a re-cone. I was wondering what the current value of this speaker is currently as a non-working speaker that needs a re-cone?
  9. Here is something I do know...the K-43 have a much larger magnet than the K-33s. I have no idea what you mean by the term " direct radiator cabinet" or "polar response" ... these are technical terms that are out of my league. I just know simple stuff like does it sound better or not.
  10. I own a pair of 80s Cornwalls. I was wondering if it made any difference in sound if you changed the woofers from k-33s to K-43s? I mean, are the original crossovers designed for ONLY K-33s? Or does it not make any difference if you put K-43s in?
  11. I'm looking for opinions from folks that have actually heard Al's Supper AA crossover for La Scala. How they sound to their ears vs. stock crossovers for an article I am writing. Thanks, bob
  12. Just curious if anyone else found Al Klappenberger to be abusive when communicating with him via email?
  13. Also, regarding the woofer I’m getting recommendations to go with the Eminence Kappa 15c speaker which is a little bit more expensive but appears can deliver a bit more bass and robust performance. Thoughts vs. the K-33? Klipsch has been a colossal hassle with trying to order a K-33 speaker from them. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. I was considering the ALK Engineering AA rebuild option from r about $160. You send your x-overs in and he rebuilds a set for you that includes the following… (see photo) it seems to include more than just caps. Plus I don’t have to figure anything out or solder. What do you think? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
