  1. Lol, @jimjimbo actually just posted a thread looking for vintage audio gear in Spokane.
  2. Well, at least he didnt electrocute an elephant like Edison did to try to discredit Tesla and AC power.
  3. Damn this is some mad genius level gear. I have seen some crazy things here over the years but this may take the cake, especially those cornscalas. Honestly, I think this deserves a dedicated thread if your down to start one and talk about how you built and finished them.
  4. That looks pretty legit. I wouldnt do it on your sale thread but you should definitely post some more pics of the setup in the HT section.
  5. Lol same here, you cant sneak in red built in Cornwalls and double LS center here without some kind of explanation. Good luck with the sale btw. I am actually down on the exposed motorboard with woofer protection look.
  6. Its a nice place to visit. The Couer d'Alene resort is fun to check out and the lake is beautiful. Also, RiverFront park is cool and the gondola ride over the falls is a worthwhile attraction. If you want some scenic views, check out High Drive and you can also drive up the hills over the Poulouse and the views are beautiful.
  7. I grew up in Spokane and cant really see it as the type of place with a high end audio store aside from maybe a Magnolia HiFi at one of the Best Buys. I would definitely make the 20 min trip to the Couer d'Alene resort if your up there though.
  8. How much wing damage like that can a plane take before it deforms enough to cause lift issues? I couldnt imagine being the pilot and praying the windshields dont give in.
  9. You know you have a true friend when you can regularly play raquetball with them and not end up hating each other.
  10. Here is a great youtube video from the HomeTheater Geeks that goes into detail on room treatment. Its a bit long but some very good info: Personally, I had great success using the mirror technique with a laser pointer to control the 4 primary reflection points between me and my speakers for my LaScalas. I think no-matter the setup, this will always make a big difference.
  11. I can see it now trying to get these past my Wife: "Look honey, they are mirrored so they simply reflect the other decor. They basically disappear into the room!"
  12. Lol I thought at first that they were mirror veneer matched, not actually MIRRORED.
  13. Its funny, the more you look at this photo more superb it is from a composition standpoint. The foreground hummingbirds' beak draws you perfectly up the turkey leg to the other hummingbird. Then the other hummingbird's beak draws you to the feeder which in turn draws your eye up to the hook which is a leading line to the deer running away. The deer looking to the left then draws your eye to the negative space by the garden then drifts back down to the other turkey which balances the first turkey as they are both looking opposite directions. You really have some artistic wildlife...
  14. That is a tough call. $160 is probably a good deal and you can always stick them in a garage or shop etc. There is not a lot of info on these but I found an old spec sheet from an old posting:
  15. There is a pair in Denver that was originally listed for $600 and now dropped to $500 with no takers.
  16. Would you consider going the DIY route with horn loaded subs? I know the Cinema F-20 is pretty common but the Gjallarhorn looks impressive: https://data-bass.com/data?page=system&id=45&mset=42 https://www.avsforum.com/forum/155-diy-speakers-subs/1495785-doug-s-dual-gjallarhorn-build.html https://www.avsforum.com/forum/155-diy-speakers-subs/1465617-triple-gjallarhorn-othorn-build.html Also, how is WakeJunkie doing?
  17. I was at a random pizza shop in the middle of Kansas a few weeks ago and they had this on. There was a hand a guy went all in and his odds went down to less than 1% for the flop and the turn. The river hit giving him a 3 of a kind and he won the hand and went ballistic. Its interesting how subtle the game is, it looked like nothing really happened at all on the TV but the drama was top notch.
  18. Its a solid piece of equipment. The only thing you have to be careful about is the front lens element is very exposed and curves outward so you have to be mindful to not scrape it on anything. The only other downside is the distortion pattern is strange and Lightroom has no presets to correct it. For most photography and landscapes you never notice aside from a slight curve of the horizon but urban shots of buildings etc with straight lines can get interesting. Aside from that, the color rendition is very good and the lens is spectacularly sharp. I have a 20''x30'' poster of a landscape shot I took in Banff National Park in Alberta and the lens was so sharp it picked up swimmers across the lake with a 14mm lens! It will fit a crop and full sensor as well.
  19. Here is a sunset shot I took a few years ago at Las Catalina in Costa Rica with my Canon DSLR and Rokinon 14mm lens: All in all this is by far my favorite lens. It is all manual with regards to F stop and focus but its tack sharp and punched far above its weight in regards to price: https://www.amazon.com/Rokinon-FE14M-C-Ultra-Canon-Black/dp/B003VSGQPG/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?ie=UTF8&qid=1530911452&sr=8-1-spons&keywords=rokinon+14mm+canon&psc=1
  20. I agree with what others have said about getting slightly used. As long as it manages the lossless audio codecs found on Blu Ray you should be good to go for the next few years at least if you have a standard 5.1 or 7.1 system. Even if it cant do 4K pass through or DolbyVision or whatever you can get an HDMI splitter to run the video directly to the TV and the audio will go to the AVR.
  21. I second this. From what I have read, subs are best placed in the center of a wall either front and back or side to side. Ideally, its best to have 4 subs in the center of each wall.
  22. Thanks! I have been pretty lucky to be at the right place at the right time when I have my Macro rings on. Here is another shot I took when I found two 'Daddy Longlegs' fighting:
