    Geezer’s nightmare: Night Driving

This actually ties into Home Theater in an interesting way and is why I always recommend a bias light behind your TV. When you drive at night, the constant cycle of dark then sudden light of oncoming traffic or street lights cause your pupils to constantly dilate and contract which leads to fatigue and is one of the reasons why driving at night is dangerous. The same thing goes for watching TV at night, producers often cycle between light and dark scenes and it causes the same fatigue. By wearing amber glasses and having a TV bias light, it evens out the amount of light entering your eyes to avoid the constant dilation, contraction cycle.

What's the weather like where you're at?

Its about 22 and snowing here in the Springs, will probably get down to about 6 tonight. Good excuse to get the fireplace going.

    More Gender Angst

This is the real crux of the issue. This is absolutely a mental health issue and I believe is partly caused by hormone mimicking chemicals in our plastics and pesticides like Atrazine. What a perfect cover though, instead of an industry coming to terms with the fact we poisoned a generation we simply create a huge PR stunt to normalize the problem. Its absolutely sickening we are allowing and promoting kids to mutilate themselves permanently before they reach an age where they can be trusted to make their own decisions in any other aspect of life. We dont let Schizophrenic people vote twice if they hear voices in their heads, but we allow this insanity in sports?

    Overkill 18" sub??

Here is another shot of CECAA loading it into the van:
  5. Great deal for someone that wants a minimal look or willing to dress them up. https://denver.craigslist.org/ele/d/arvada-klipschorn-pair/6814721653.html

    Wedding Speakers?

K-Horns would be incredibly hard to move and set up. If you have the manpower, time and experience you could get two Pro LaScalas and build a couple Cinema F-20 horn loaded subs. Make sure you call the local police and have them clean their uniforms so they look nice when they show up.

What's the weather like where you're at?

Its 50 deg here in Colorado Springs and Sunny which adds another 10 deg of warmth. The coldest I have experienced was -25f on a ski trip to Canada. It was so cold the air would burn your lungs without a mask or balaclava. We have a diesel truck and I swear it took at least 20 min to get the glow plugs hot enough to turn the engine over.

So JBL is joining the retro bandwagon.

Is there a technical reason for the foam?

    What I Got Today!

I think Solo is where they came up with the "Get woke, go broke" phrase.

    KLIPSCH FORTE xxxx Sold

I had a similar thing happen to me when I lived in an Apartment complex. It was Saturday and I was watching Gladiator pretty loud through my KSB 1.1 bookshelf speakers. I got a knock on the door and it was a cop who said, "We got a nuisance party call for someone else but when we showed up we could hear your movie from the parking lot."

    Bookshelf vs floorstanding

I second going with floor standing as well. The thing with bookshelves is that if you dont already have something to put them on then you need to get stands and if you cheap out on getting good stands you always have to worry about them falling over. By the time you pay for expensive stands, you might as well just have bought floor standing speakers in the first place. As for amps, I personally think Class D sounds really good with Klipsch. This is an amp that punches far above its weight: https://www.parts-express.com/dayton-audio-dta-120bt-class-d-mini-amplifier-60-wpc-with-bluetooth-and-power-supply--300-3802 That will free up some budget to get a quality DAC like the Schiit GUNGNIR. http://www.schiit.com/products/gungnir
  12. Good luck with the sale and a fair price in my opinion. The V1 CF-4s and KV-4 are extremely rare on their own and to have a matching set of 3 is something you may not see again for a very long time.

    Center Channel Recommendation

A single Heresy would work well too and fit under a TV better than some other options. You wont have lobing issues that traditional horizontal centers are prone to as well. Its rare to find a single but see if there a a pair on CL. Post a thread seeing if any forum members in your area are willing to split the cost and each take one. You can even find a cheap pair that might be beat up and simply cover the front with acoustic fabric to have it blend into your HT system. In the meantime, I would go into your AVR settings and set your center to 'off' or 'phantom'. The center info will route to your mains and the stereo imaging will put the voices on the screen, you will actually be surprised on how good this sounds as long as you are sitting between the two speakers.

U2's One: bad mastering or Klipsch's weak spot?

Like others have mentioned, Klipsch speakers are very revealing and any issues with mastering etc will show through where a cone and dome may hide it. Achtung Baby actually scores pretty high on the dynamic range chart so it might just be that one part of the song with issues. Maybe the speaker connects at the studio had an issue or some other equipment. http://dr.loudness-war.info/album/list?album=achtung+baby That is one fun thing about Klipsch speakers is they bring out little details (good or bad) that make the music that much more real. Little things like the guitar player coughing and giving a sigh in the opening of 'Wish you were here' adds to the emotional impact of the song. There is an old Beatles album where you can hear the AC unit kick on in the background if you have certain speakers but I cant remember which one.
  15. This is a really good deal. I would expect to pay around $1,200 to $1,400 for upgraded LaScalas like this.
