  1. The homeless here in Denver just shoot meth to stay warm in the Winter.

    .

    What did they go for?
  3. Lol that reminds me of one: A man was walking back to his car after a day of fishing with a bucket full of fish. The warden stops him and says, "Please let me see your fishing license". The man replies, "Sir, I am not fishing... you see these are my pet fish and I let them out every week to swim in the lake then I call them back into the bucket with my whistle." The warden was skeptical and said, "Ok wise guy, if that is true I want to see you do it right now." So the two walk down to the bank and the man dumps the fish into the water and they disappear into the lake. After a minute the warden says, "Ok buddy, you gonna call your fish back?" And the guy simply picks up his gear and says, "What fish?"
  4. Some people are clueless. I saw a news report in Hawaii of some Asian lady who flew in to Oahu for vacation about 24 hrs before the hurricane was supposed to hit Honolulu. She was surprised the news crews were there and when they asked her about it she said, "I didnt know anything about a hurricane!". We drove around much of the island and there were about 10 buildings total that bothered to put any sandbags or board up any windows to prepare. The scariest thing was all the local 'tent towns' right on the beach that would have been annihilated if it had actually hit.
  5. Hopefully they can get the land lines up. I know the cell companies usually have backup generators on the towers for emergencies but landlines are probably a lower priority.
  6. Also remember that your laptop computer has a fairly large battery and can charge a cell phone. If a storm is coming have the laptop fully charged and put it in 'sleep' mode and let it charge your phone if needed.
  7. Nice setup! That should hold you over for some time. I think at the level your at, you are really at the apex of the cost/performance curve and you are going to have to drop serious money for incremental upgrades. The only thing I would suggest other than some sound treatments is a bias light for your TV. Having a backlight will make your blacks pop more and its much better for your eyes. The problem with TV's is the constant dark and light scenes cause your pupils to dilate and contact constantly which eventually wears you down and will make you want to turn a long movie off. A good bias light prevents that and is a huge improvement for a few dollars. Here is a good one that plugs into one of your TV's USB ports and turns on automatically: https://www.amazon.com/Luminoodle-Bias-Lighting-Backlight-Strip/dp/B01BKU7B7I/ref=sr_1_2_sspa?ie=UTF8&qid=1536857680&sr=8-2-spons&keywords=tv+bias+light&psc=1
  8. Those look pretty rough cosmetically for that price, I have seen really nice Cornwalls go for about $950. Remember too that black speakers like that may be fine in your room but they may be harder to sell if you choose to down the road. I would let them sit on the market for a few weeks and give them an offer around $700.
  9. Best of luck man. I was about a mile away from the South shore on Oahu when Lane put us into its cross-hairs as a Cat 5. We were visiting my Brother and Sister in law, they have a 21 month old boy and we have a 19 month old girl. The Navy pulled out all the ships from Pearl Harbor and the ports closed so we just prepared and waited with no evacuation plans possible. I still dont know how we dodged that bullet but I have a greater appreciation for the guys that live down south and that foreboding feeling you get as you look up the updated spaghetti models every 4 hours and run through all the different scenarios. Im a Bulleit Bourbon fan myself, Knob Creek is good as well but it can be a little hot until you settle in with it.

    Ht seating

I second this. I have a leather chair in my listening room and throwing a thick blanket over the back made a night and day difference in the clarity of the sound.
  11. Lol, looked at the map again. Wrong state...
  12. Best of luck to you guys down in the South. I was in Honolulu when Lane almost hit and it was surreal watching the storm churn closer and closer as a Cat 5. There were no evacuations so everyone just kind of went about their business in the days leading up to it. Then it stopped when the mountains ripped the roof off the storm and it didnt even rain where we were.
  13. At least the guy that owns them is into serious sound. Thats not your typical DVD collection...
  14. I am happy with mine as well although the were modified by the previous owner with Crites tweeters and crossovers. I think sometimes when people seek to upgrade their Klipsch its assumed the original product was bad or had serious issues. Its more the case of enthusiasts simply loving to tinker with a product with great support and a cottage industry of different options to eek out the extra little bit of performance in ways a company may not be able to feasibly do with a stock product.
  15. Those look very nice. Did you paint the logo on the squawker with a stencil or is it a sticker?
  16. Prayers to you and your family. I just checked the news on the Redding fire and its horrific. I hope everything works out ok
  17. I remember a discussion about bracing a while back and someone brought this up. It seems its better to have thicker walls than bracing as bracing simply raises the resonant frequency between the braces. That is probably why the LS II has thicker side walls. The LaScala industrial with fiberglass coating is very inert from what I have heard as well. Personally, I have LaScalas and have not noticed any detrimental issues from the walls vibrating.
  18. I have heard of people putting tennis balls in the gap of the bass horn and that helps a little. Fastlane audio used to sell braces you can glue but I am not sure if they do anymore. If you have 'beater' cabs you can cut 1/2'' plywood sheets and glue them to the sides as well.
  19. That is not a bad deal. The biggest factor will be how you want to use your setup. Is this going to be mostly for home theater or music or both? Do you listen to music in the background or do you like to sit down and really listen? Also, do you use your HT for gaming or more movies? If you are more into music and some movies, I would go with a really good 2 channel setup. When I had my LaScalas set up with my TV I actually didnt miss surround sound at all because the detail and soundstage was so impressive. However, if you like video games having surround sound is a must in my opinion.
  20. I would really like to see a side by side test of the RF7 II vs the KG 5.5 with new caps and a ti compression driver.
  21. Welcome to the forum! I believe the Icon series is discontinued and was only available through Best Buy. Personally, I would skip this and look at the used market for a deal on speakers. The Icons are the base level Klipsch offering and do not hold their value at all in the used market if you ever want to upgrade. If you let us know your location, we can look up some local Craigslist deals and help you put a system together.
  22. Lol this reminds me when I used to work in the COBRA department at a health insurance broker. I had to call terminated employees and discuss their COBRA insurance options. Usually the calls are pretty rough and the people were pissed but one day this guy was really chill and just said, "Eh, F*ck it man. Im just chillin and got a Led Zepplin album spinning... They aint gonna get me down." We both gave a chuckle and the dude really made my Friday.
  23. Your comment about the shared family room / kitchen may be a concern if you want to put in a projector. Projectors work best in dedicated rooms where you can have no windows or blackout curtains. Having a projector in a shared space on the ground level means you will need to get blackout curtains for all ambient light for both rooms or find a high powered projector that can work well in ambient light. At the end of the day, you might just want to go with a TV if its a shared space.

    Schvitzin'

Its funny, I was talking to my co-worker who works in our Scottsdale office about the weather and he said how nice it must be that its 76 deg here in the Springs. Then my phone alert went off I had to hang up and get the cars inside due to the severe thunderstorm warning. It just missed our house but Manitou Springs got pounded:
