  1. I'm thinking I'd go with the 7ii drivers are they are a bit easier to find. Finding 4 undamaged first generations drivers I believe would prove difficult.
  2. Still interested in more info on the driver comparisons.
  3. I meant changing the exterior of the box shouldn't change the sound (even though the material is slightly different than what Klipsch used to build them) much unless I make them larger. I have no idea how changing the woofers will change the sound. Part of the reason for starting the thread. Also thank you for the comment on the woofer quality, exactly the type of info I'm looking for.
  4. It'll still have an MDF core, so it shouldn't change the sound drastically unless I give them more volume inside.
  5. I have a pair of KLF-20's as my front mains. I really enjoy them and have already upgraded to the crites titanium tweeter and upgraded the crossover components as well. The cabinets aren't bad, don't rattle etc, but I'm probably going to rebuild them with in black walnut to match the rest of the furniture I've built in my living room. As part of that process, I'm considering replacing the KLF-20 drivers with RF-7i/ii drivers as I miss the copper look my RF-5's had. Plus I think a three way speaker with copper drivers would look awesome. I haven't seen much on the differences in specs for the drivers and if that would work or not. Maybe someone here knows. If I keep the stock drivers, I'll build the cabinets to the same specs and reuse the front and rear boards. If I go with the rf-7 drivers I'll probably make the cabinets slightly taller and and make a new motor board for the front so the drivers fit properly. I've been keeping an eye out for 4 rf-7 drivers preferable used since paying over $650 for new ones isn't really in the budget. So if anyone has/ see's them or has a good deal on new ones I may be interested. Thoughts, comments and suggestions are welcome. Especially since I haven't started it yet and its open to change.
  6. I haven't used Monocoat on Goncalo Alves, but have had great luck using it on black walnut. Always seems to turn out great. The times I have used Goncalo Alves have been in cutting boards and I use a different finish for that. Still a great wood.
  7. No worries, one thing most of us have probably learned. There's always more speakers.
  8. I want some garage speakers and these would be a great fit, but unfortunately they aren't willing to ship them. Not a bad deal for someone locally. Link
  9. Parting with a Onkyo M-282. Work great and is in excellent condition. Low usage, and has just been sitting around. Asking $190 shipped. Located in Boise, ID.
  10. They're a bit underwhelming compared to some other klipsch subs in my opinion. My brother had one and it always seems a bit "muddy." He sold it and found a rw-12, it's a much better sounding sub in comparison.
  11. I had my RSW-12 amp repaired by Edwards Electronics. I was happy with their service and the price wasn't unreasonable to save the sub. You can contact them via eBay here if so inclined.
  12. Its about time, congrats on the sale.

    Almost the weekend bump
  14. Number is: K-1084 / K-1084-S Used in the RB-5 and the RP-5.
  15. A DIY 18" would also be an option, if you're handy and feel up to building a subwoofer for about the same budget you're currently looking at.
  16. It was just under $200 for the repair and shipping both directions.
  17. I'd go with the RSW-15. That being said, as mentioned if the RSW line is ageing and if the r115sw has a warranty that might offer you some piece of mind. If it doesn't have a warranty and you can talk the guy down a bit, then I'd keep a little extra aside for the amp repair if it ever needs it. I had the amp on my RSW-12 go out, but I paid to have it repaired as I prefer the sound (and looks) of this sub.

    SOLD

Similar to the Mahogany RB-5's you had. Just have to wait for the right buyer it seems. Though these aren't as well known as the RB-5's.
