  1. Mine is on its way back as well, should get delivered Monday. Probably was getting repaired at the same time as yours.
  2. No Affiliation: https://boise.craigslist.org/ele/5709828074.html If buyer won't ship the academy centers, I'm happy to help arrange inspection, pick up and shipping for non local buyers.
  3. They look like 3's to me. But either way $80 for two towers and a center is a great deal for someone local.
  4. Is the manual helping? At all? It help on the parts I could get to easily and test, Haven't had a change to fully disassemble it to test some other pieces. Also saw that Edwards Electronics is having a sale today on their repair service so I may just send it in for that. After all, the sub was free so I don't mind spending a little to get it working again.
  5. His issue is quite different than this one, but thanks for tracking that down. May help someone else.
  6. They were on Craigslist for a spell, but he seems to no have renewed the ad. They have been for sale for a long time. I'd say send him an offer ($700-800) and see what happens. Use the excuse that you have to drive a few hours to pick them up.
  7. Replacement options depend on your budget really, but there are many favourable reviews on the Klipsch r-115sw. Also hope the rsw-12 doesn't actually end up in a landfill, I'm sure there are more than a few of us that would take it or the parts off your hands.
  8. It will be used for movies 100% along with a SVS SB13 Ultra. I like ear bleed loud. Ear bleed loud they can do. I prefer the RF-5's hands down, but overall they're a good speaker with a wide sound stage.
  9. What was the problem that you found in the amp? JJK I'd like to know this as well.
  10. I'd think they would be nearly the same? Same peak and only a 25 watt difference in output.
  11. Saw that, it is another option. Also saw however that some people on here or friends of friends etc, have tried that and cancelled their order after about 4 weeks when they hadn't heard anything or received it back repaired.
  12. Picked up a broken RSW-12 the other day. I was aware of the condition before hand. I have been debating having the amplifier repaired, or just adding an external one to it. It's not blowing fuses, but is also not working. Pulled it apart, checked all the connections etc. When turned on it draws power, but the front light doesn't come on. I've checked the circuit boards, and see no discoloration, nothing leaking or cracked. Any thoughts what to check for? Who does Klipsch recommend for amplifier repair? Thanks!
  13. I know they don't advertise these anywhere (other than a small section on their site), but I'm surprised they're still for sale. I took a look at those, must be 2 years ago now.
  14. Congratulations on the purchase!
  15. No problem. Parts express order was $250.87 after a $20 coupon code (included subwoofer, mounting kit, and the terminal). Bought 5 lbs. of polyfil from Walmart for about $12. Used only half of it, saving the other half for the next one. The veneered wood was about $70. Already had the stain and sealant. But figure about $11 for both of those. Two tubes of PL premium were about $10, and already had nails and screws. Also bough some foam sealant tape for around the driver. That was about $3. So total was roughly $360.
  16. Can't go wrong with RB-5's. Plus I'm sure most of us wish we had a setup like that when we were 15.
  17. It fills the rooms pretty well so far. Plus its a very open room so that's no easy task. I'll be adding another 18" at some point. The 18" seems very responsive so far, just need to adjust the settings on it's iNuke once I borrow a windows based laptop.
  18. The box is going to come in just under 5 cu ft after driver and bracing.
  19. I recently sold one of my previous DIY subs (Thread Here), and decided I wanted something that plays a bit lower. So I went bigger. Decided to go with the Dayton Audio RSS460HO-4. Everything I read about the sub was positive. Great sound quality and output. I also prefer the aesthetics of the driver over that of the Ultimax or SI HT18 (which were my other options). Box is in progress and the driver should arrive tomorrow (Friday the 19th). Driver arrived today. Much larger in person that photos would leave you to believe. Test fitted and adjusted as necessary. I cut the holes a bit small since I didn't have the driver yet. Installed the terminal, wiring, T-nuts and polyfill. All that's left is a few coats of polyurethane coating and installing the driver. Its a hard color to photograph in the rooms since it doesn't get much light, but looks stunning in person. Complete and ready to be broken in. Completed weight came in about 70lbs.
  20. I have the 18" version of that subwoofer being delivered tomorrow. From everything i read they sound fantastic. So I suspect your build will as well.
  21. They look more like RF-3's to me, but its not the best photo.
  22. Replied, and thanks for spotting that!
  23. I've been thinking about changing up my subwoofer setup and have had my customs subwoofers listed locally with no interest. Figured I'd post them here and see if anyone was interested. The build link is in my signature and has more information and pictures. They are passive and will need a Behringer iNuke or similar amplifier to run them. The boxes have no flex or vibration. Built from 3/4in oak veneered plywood, stained black. Each subwoofer can handle approximately 600 rms for a total of 1200 rms per box. Dimensions: Standard Box: 28.5 in H x 22.5 in D x 14 in W Hexagon: 27 in H x 21 in D x 25 in W Asking price for (1) dual 12 subwoofer: $600 shipped. Might be able to work on the price a little depending on location, but shipping will be expensive as they will weigh between 105-110lbs with packing. (Your FedEx driver will be thrilled) Happy to answer any questions about them.
