  1. The other difference to consider in the towers is that the RP-280FA uses a 6.5in driver for the height channel, where as if you adding the RP-140SA on top of the RP-280F only gets you a 4in driver for the height channel. I'm not sure how much difference that would make (maybe someone else can chime in on that) but its something to consider.

    Walnut KG2's. Sold.
  3. I hear there will be a nice set of Klipsch Palladium's in the pilot for the new Minority Report TV series. There is a 15 min preview that airs this Saturday (8-13-15) and check out the Pilot when it officially airs (9-21-15)
  4. Nice catch, I'll check it out. Didn't show up in my searches.
  5. Anyone parting out a RC-3/3ii? My brother picked up a cheap RC-3 off Craigslist recently. Its in great shape cosmetically but after a few tests it seems the crossover is not functioning properly. The woofers put out sound but the tweeter does not. I swapped the tweeter into my RC-3ii and it works fine. So I'm looking for a crossover and also looking for the badge that goes on the grill. Thanks!
  6. Yep Boise to Vegas is pretty quick. Congratulations on the poster. Looks Great!
  7. GLWS. Plan on sticking with the brand or switching to something else?

    What I Got Today!

Picked up a pair of mint condition RB-5 ii's and a mint RC-3 ii (no tears, no broken pegs, no scratches). $100 on Craigslist. Older couple (late 60's early 70's) just moved here from central California an replaced their home theatre with a soundbar. Wanted them gone. Pictures were terrible and no model numbers listed but upon arriving they looked brand new. Have wanted to hear these since I started collecting RF-5's. They do not disappoint. They will be replacing my RB-600's on my secondary system. Poorly lit picture attached.
  9. looks good, glad to see the drivers working out for you. It's always fun to build it yourself. here's the one I did not too long ago. HERE
  10. He's trying to avoid the eBay commission, They don't appreciate it when people try to do that. Especially if someone reported the listing.
  11. Tricky decision. I really like the way my rs-52's disperse sound, but have not heard the older single driver versions to compare. Since you already have both, how do they sound in comparison? Do you notice a difference with the rs-3's larger diver vs the smaller ones in the rs-42? Also looking at your system, the rs-42 seems the odd one out. You'd have a nice matching setup if you swapped them out for another set of rs-3's.

Picked up off Craigslist, but decided not to use it, so its going up for sale. Has a ring on the top from where someone had set a cup, and some of the vinyl is peeling in various places. Most if covered up when the grill cover is on. The few visible places are on a few corners. Great shape other wise, no dents in the cones. Sounds great. 75W RMS one 1" (2.5cm) magnetically shielded, titanium dome compression driver Two 4" (10.2 cm) magnetically shielded Cerametallic cone Asking $105. Includes Shipping and Paypal fees.
  14. An 838 for $400? that's an awesome deal. I just sold my 818 and will be looking for a replacement. Would be nice to find a deal like that.
  15. Interesting thought. Hadn't considered that until now.
  16. I'd say its easy, just time consuming as long as you have the skills.

  18. I had been looking for a subwoofer locally for a while and nothing was really showing up, so I decided to just build my own. I decided to build two dual 12 in vented subs and sell one off to cover the cost of mine. I found a great deal on some brand new a stock drivers from Epik. They appeared to be leftover drivers form when they were still doing business. The drivers had great reviews, it was their amps that seemed to have issue. They have 22mm xmax one way and can handle roughly 600 rms each. They turn out fantastic and sound amazing, but still need more time to break in. No strange vibrations or resonance and no vent noise either. I used a 3/4in oak veneered plywood for the outside, stained black and coated in many coats of a satin polyurethane. They ended up matching my RF-5's quite nicely. MDF was used for the vents and the vents are flared both inside and out to reduce the risk of noise. I don't have a windows computer so thankfully "Mustang Guy" helped me out with what cu ft I'd need for the drivers and what vent size I would need. I took those numbers and designed the boxes form there. With the specs from the drivers, the program thought one dual 12 sub should put out about 118db at 21hz without reaching xmax. The boxes were glued and sealed with PL premium (messy stuff but works well), lined with an acoustic foam, and the subs were bolted in using t-nuts to keep them nice and snug. They were also allowed to sit for about a week while the glue and poly cured before the subs were installed. One box I built is more typical in design, roughly the size and shape of the JL Fathom F212. The other one I did as something more unique. It's a hexagonal box with two smaller vents off to the sides. It look more like an end table and from the back you'd think that's what it was until you saw the drivers. Its more pictures that the forum allows being linked to, so here's a finished photo, and the link to the photo bucket album. Photobucket Link
  19. My setup is in my signature. But for music I tried the trim at 0 +6, 10, and 12. But when watching a blu-ray I had to turn it back down to 0.
  20. It is vented, and I will give this a try. Thank you! I also tried my current settings with a blu-ray and had to turn everything down. Its just music that seems to need a bit of a boost.
  21. 600 RMS should be safe for them. Hopefully playing with the setting in the amp some with yield some better results. May also try the sub in a different room and see if that helps as well.
  22. Running two 12in subs in one box, each sub is wired to 4 ohms and each sub is running on 1 channel.
  23. It's fixed now. It was the adapters. Switched to a set on mono adapters and now I have sound. Now sure the 3000dsp is enough power so I may be sending it back for a 6000dsp instead. Any ideas how i can boost the input signal to the amp? Even if I turn the receiver up to +12 for the sub it still seems like it could be louder. Though I need to play with the amp settings more, its trickier since I don't own a windows computer.
