    selling a pair of welbourne labs tube mono blocks. the laurel iix with ultimate upgrade. 8 wpc. in great working and cosmetic condition. the power tubes are kr audio 302 tubes. $900 alone for the the tubes. they have about 400 hours on them rated at 5000 hours. also has the magnequest transformers which is part of the ultimate upgrade. $1800 obo

    one concern i have is that if i ever determined that i wanted to go back the m14's they are getting pretty hard to come by, at least around here. i posted the altecs for trade locally just a couple days ago and gotten trade offers for cornwalls (2 different owners), chorus 1, chorus 2, forte 1, and forte 2. i should also mention that I'm using using 300b SET mono blocks to drive them. 8 watts. the altecs aren't quite as effcient but they have no issues with the amps. somewhere around 96 dbs. but i think you are right. it would be in my best interest to bring my gear over to the cw's and give it a listen. thanks!!!! ps. i should have also assumed that klipsch would win over altecs here. ha

    anybody have personal experience with these speakers? i have altecs now. I'm not unhappy with them at all. but just in my nature to be curious about other speakers. i had cornwalls once before but they worked in 100% working condition. old caps, tweeter issues, etc. so i can't really compare. i could trade the altecs for cornwalls straight up.

    selling a EAR 834 L deluxe tube pre amp. has 1950's era ken rad tubes with about 50-60 hours tops. Pre amp it self is in great working and cosmetic condition. this is the chrome deluxe version that cost $1000 extra. $1600 phoenix, az

    thats a good idea. i actually just buttoned them up for a bit because i was starting to hate music just from testing these out. thats my next step though. i hooked up my heresys that i had just recapped but barely listened to since and am at least back in a musical place.

    not sure what else i can do at this point. ill probably just bring out my heresys again and use those in the meantime.

    thank you for that. i bypassed the crossover. and the volume to the woofer seems to be equal. i should also say that before i bypassed the crossover the lower volume cab is about 5 dibs quieter according to an spl meter.

    i racapped the crossover but still didn't help. still lower in volume. i then switched out the woofer and horn from the cabinet that has normal volume to the lower volumed cabinet. the louder cabinet remained louder so i can rule an issue with the actually horns and woofers.

    they are indeed the same woofers. based on the part number they are the same woofer that came in the 9842's

    thanks for the reply. so i should state that the speaker with lower output sounds proportionally lower. the horn and the woofer. good thought on the woofers. they looked very similar but ill check. did you just buy another matching woofer? i found a local place with some fast caps so i will get some tomorrow and just recap. i read that the protection circuit only works at very loud volumes, which makes sense. it was a bit too late to blast music to test in my apartment so that could be why it appeared not to be functioning. i tried at only lower volume.
