He's a TE, he should have good hands, and control the ball.

You never want the guys in front try to catch the ball.  There's too much room for error.  Each person on the receiving team should have someone to block, that allows the person behind him to field the ball.  If he fumbles, there shouldn't be someone on him immediately if everyone makes their assigned blocks.

    To you and Ceptorman:

First, agreed. He should have blocked. That is his role.

Bostick isn't a "catching" TE, he is a blocking TE, for one. Also, in his interview after the game he admitted he knew he was supposed to let Jordy, the best hands on the team, make the catch and block for him. He was playing superhero, and GB should NOT offer a new contract after this year. Should not. Period. That is just ignorant and a blatant disregard for the Special Teams Coach and the rest of his team.

Sure, we can mention the dropped pass on 3rd and 4, we can talk about the blown coverage on the fake field goal, we can talk about the blown coverage on the 2pt conversion and we can talk about the blown coverage on the final play of the game. However, all of those things can happen at any time to any player in the NFL. They are true mistakes. Bostick jumping up in front of THE BEST hands on the team when you know that is NOT what you are supposed to do is anything but a mistake. It is blatant disregard for the team and the coaches, and I don't think the fans will ever forgive or forget this one. Never. I don't know if GB will give him a chance for next year or not, but honestly, I hope not.

  2. I hope Indy defeats NE and I simply can't root for the Packers, as I am a Bears fan.  You can't go both ways like some soft Bear fans.  Sorry, I respect Rogers, but no, the Seahawks will conquer.  The Seahawks fan base is unbelievable...loud and totally in to it.  Have you ever seen so many painted faces?  Loud, crazy fans.  Any team to upset the Seahawks on their turf deserves to go to the Super Bowl.

"Any team to upset the Seahawks on their turf deserves to go to the Super Bowl."

And that they will tnr. That they will. :D

  3. I have reviewed all the subwoofer recommendations thus far. Very nice. Very nice indeed. I don't claim to be a master, obviously, of the technical side of speaker specifications. However, I am surprised, maybe due to a lack of indepth knowledge, that no one recommended just going with the new Klipsch Reference 15. Have they just not managed to reach that top level in bass production and quality yet, at that price level?

At least in my somewhat lack of knowledge, I know what general speaker company to go with. I'm no fool. Technically lacking knowledge in some fields, sure, but no fool. :)

  4.

Who was the guitarist that played with either Roger or Gilmore's Floyd, (can't remember which one) that played left handed but used a right handed guitar? He did not reverse the strings. He was a younger guy, dark hair. I can pull out my DVDs to find out which band he played with.

I do believe you are talking about the great Dave Kilminster: possibly anyway... http://davekilminster.com/

He toured with Roger during the In The Flesh era and shared lead with Snowy.

I had to google it….he played left handed with a regular strung right handed guitar….http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Doyle_Bramhall_II

OH YEAH! Oh BRAM! I always get he and Kilminster confused. Kilminster was during the DSOTM and WALL tours of the recent Roger Waters tours. Bram was the one during the In The Flesh tour that always wore the funny velvet outfits and crazy stuff like that on stage. He is awesome, so is Kilminster, but Bram was fun to watch. He is the one featured on the In The Flesh DVD.

Ah yes, this slip of instant Floyd knowledge from me only means one thing! I need to watch that DVD when I get home today!

  5. I'm a huge Packers fan, and know we can win. It is just, will we pull through. Sure, I already know Seattle is going to score on us, but we are one of the best scoring teams in the league, when Rogers isn't hurt. I think it comes down to that alone.

Can Rogers move out of the pocket with the calf injury and, with the help of Lacy, lead us to outscoring the Seahawks? It will take Rogers moving and Lacy running, at least some and I don't think he even has to be that effective overall, to keep that defense honest enough to allow us to continually score on them.

However, if Rogers can gimp along and play as great as he has the past two weeks with a torn calf, along with our defense showing up, we are good to go.... I hope. :/

I can't stand the Pats, CANNOT STAND THEM, but I don't see them losing to Luck at home. No way.

  6. I was not a fan of PF until my second year of college. The songs Money, We Don't Need No Education, and Comfortably Numb were always favorites before then, but that was really about it. My roommate was their number 1 fan, and he played their vinyl frequently. Later, the movie The Wall was released, and that solidified it for me. It was then that I realized they were more than just a group. They were storytellers.

I have been a fan ever since.

The new CD Endless River baffles me a little. I know there is a story being told, but either it's over my head, or I am over thinking it.

Honestly, IMO, you may be over thinking this one. I had to force myself to step back and realize it was unfinshed work. We are not getting Piper, or DSTOM, or WYWH, or Division Bell, we are getting one last horrah, one last glimpse at what they truly enjoyed and enjoyed doing together. Nick even stated in an interview with NME that this one was truly meant to be rough, lost, and all over the place; because it was technically studio jams that were never truly completed with Rick. The only story being told in this one, is the story of playing music together and being happy doing so. Jam sessions, Rick, life, and the awe of music, hence the only song they went in and did new lyrics for being Louder Than Words.

"We ***** and we fight. Dis each other on site, but this thing we do.

These times together. Rain or shine or stormy weather. This thing we do.

It's louder than words, this thing that we do.

Louder than words, the way it unfurls.

It's louder than words, the sum of our parts, the beat of our hearts is louder than words"

Of course, someone also had to invent this "money" thing that really hampers my style.

Trust me buddy, being in this hobby you become a season tickets holder to an annual wallet bleeding.

i’ve been real good for a long while now…no new speakers…now new guitars…there’s my lovely weakness.

My weakness is really computers, as far as revolving door expenses. Luckily, I can set a goal on a receiver or speakers I want, work to get them, and I'm very content for long periods of time. I just can't do that with computers though. I do a lot of graphic design, video and audio editing as a freelance designer and for my corporate world job. That makes it hard for me to not want the next best and greatest PC every year. Oh well, such is life. :D

    Steve,

Thanks for your kind words. I am doing ok, being here on the Forum does help.

Thoughts on Roger's concerts? Have you ever heard Ca Ira? It's nice...

I saw some of Ca Ira on You Tube -- not enough to form an opinion.

Roger’s concerts are fantastic actually. Played nearly identical to an LP -- which i take pleasure in; however, heard a few people bashing that … accusing him of being too technically perfect and not showing any enjoyment. I disagree with them of course. In addition, I’m a fan of this guitarist named Snowy White and he was part of Roger’s band both times that I saw him. I do like and respect David Gilmour; but, wasn’t missing him while watching Snowy.

Very cool. You know, Snowy has played as backup guitarist for Floyd and a lead for Roger since the 70s with Floyd. Thus, why he was so good when you saw him play with Roger. He had many years experience at those Pink Floyd songs. :-)

snowy also played with phil in thin lizzy for a while, talented guy.

Yes, I really like Snowy. It was sad to only see Roger without all the other guys, but Snowy and John Carin made it as authentic as you could want for a Floyd experience.

  11. Welcome!

DSOTM was the first CD I bought right after buying my first CD player back in 1985 (or was it 86?)

I still have that CD... pretty good shape too. I always took care of my CD's like I did records.

Same here, bought it in 84, along with a new Yamaha cd player, the player was $400! All my friends thought I was crazy spending 2 weeks pay for a new device they're never heard of. And yes, I still have that cd.

Isn't funny how we remember stuff like that? I found my receipt last year... bought a Yamaha CD-500 on Aug 16th, 1986 for $370. That was closer to 3 or 4 weeks pay for me. The laser finally gave out after 12 years or so.

Hang on to that early CD! I think it sounds better than most remastered versions. It certainly has better dynamics but the MFSL version is very nice too.

    Awesome you all!

You have to remember I'm only 33 and didn't even, sadly get into Floyd until late 90s. So, my first album I went with was Obscured By Clouds. I obviously had witnessed The Wall and heard the radio stuff, so I wanted to go obscure off the bat. Thus, my album choice.

I have yet to hear any albums more clear and detailed than the blu ray mixes, but I honestly love my MFSL Atom Heart Mother gold disc the most out of any album I have. The MFSL Meddle is pretty amazing as well. AHM is my favorite album though.

I can't wait for some more blu rays or Immersion Boxsets!

Welcome! They have made me feel at home, also, as I am new. My Dad was Boxx, and he was a huge PF fan.

I have seen Roger Waters twice in concert. See my post in "All You PF fans" for my other story....

Hello Maccagirl! Sorry about your loss. I was jamming my Klipsch X7i headphones at work with some Wish You Were Here for him earlier today after I read that post.

I've never found anything close to PF sound. Every new speaker addition or electronics change I make, it is always PF that is used to adjust the soundscape. Luckily, now we have blu ray audio to adjust sound to. I usually use DSOTM blu ray and now The Division Bell blu ray to make my adjustments. TDB album is such an amazing surround cut. Perfection, if you ask me. Of course, Endless River is getting a lot of play right now as well.

    Cheers! LWB

Thanks for your kind words. I am always hearing new stuff in PF albums...its amazing what you hear each time your listen. We always had a dog that would howl on cue during Seamus. Like he heard them saying something. Incredible- its not just us.

Talk PF anytime with me. I will always join in.

    Cheers back!

    Genevieve

  13. I bought The Wall in 1979, and I liked them, but I wasn't a completely fanatical fan until I saw them live…..weird I guess.

Nah, I can see that. My experience was... umm... "assisted" with some other "extracurricular activities" to help enlighten me at the time. I think I would have been enlightened either way, but the assistance helped hurry things along I suppose. ;-)

Yes, technology and speaker systems are genuinely a never ending cycle of changing and upgrading. However, if the day comes I can just have Klipschorns all around my room and the heresy as my center, I might be content at that point for speakers. The technology side however, I forsee a lifelong bleeding on that end.

When I first starting reading your post, my first thought was Waters' DSOTM concert I saw around 2006? It was at the Klipsch Music Center outside Indy (Deercreek back then) there was a lady probably 8-9 months pregnant there. She had her belly painted like the album logo! It looked awesome, great job. Ironic you say your wife was pregnant at a DSOTM concert.

Hey Ceptorman, you talking about the Nobelsville IN show? We were there! No painted belly, LOL, but we were at that one.

Hey FT, that's awesome, yep Deercreek in Noblesville. It was a good show. I did see Pink Floyd (1st tour without Roger) in Indy around 1987. That show made me a Floyd fan.

Awesome! My first real introduction to Floyd was an introduction to The Wall DVD on a friends very nice Klipsch system when I was a teenager. It was a great mind expanding and life changing experience! Never looked back after that. They have just always fasinated me realy. Don't get me wrong, though. I'm not some anti-other music-superduper-crazy-floyd fanatic though. Well, part of that is me but not anti other music though! I also really get into classical, some metal, a lot of rock and electronic music as well.

    Some of my other favs:

Umphreys McGee, Rush, Queens of the Stone Age, Foo Fighters, Joe Bonamassa, Black Sabbath, Mozart, Pachelbel, Metallica, Pantera, Disco Biscuits and so on. No country really.

  16. I understand this is a thread about subwoofers, but I can't help but take notice to you using the R-15's as surrounds.  Might I suggest using at least something from the Reference II line, such as RB-61's or RS-42's? (Even 41's)  Your ears will thank you profusely and once the mrs hears them...I don't think you'll have to worry too much about any of the lashings. ;)

Yes, I know. The entire system is a work in progress. I am currently working to, especially if some good purchases work out I'm currently messing about with, to possibly go to all Heresy's in my main room for the main 5 channels. It is a work in progress for sure. If it works out, the R15Ms and the RC-25 will go to my son to begin his first Klipsch system. However, I have actually been very pleased with the sound from the R15Ms, even though I know it isn't touching the soundscape we could be producing.

Of course, someone also had to invent this "money" thing that really hampers my style.

  18. How large a room do you have and is it a living room?

Hey derrick, It is the main room. It is large. It is 15' wide by 21' long. A nice long room, but we actually have the seating about 12' back from the screen.

  19. You're definitely at the right forum.  Pink Floyd is one of my all time favorites even though I've never seen them live.  All my fondest memories of them are a little foggy though.

Excellent CEC! I, sadly, am about too young to have been able to see them live. I could have seen the 94 tour, but I was just starting to get into them at that point, so I missed the boat. I have seen Roger about 10 times though. Great stuff. Gilmour this year!
