  1. B&K amp’s are one of the most underrated amp out there. I have yet to find an amp that sounds better with Klipsch speakers.
  2. I will say that I experimented quite a bit with my Chorus II. Tried the washer mod, changed out tweeters and x-overs with Crites. I ended up going back to all stock. The Chorus II is pretty much a perfect speaker in stock form. If I ever bought another pair, I would leave them alone.
  3. Search for user Morey James on the forum. He talks a lot about adding washers to the passive.
  4. I’ve wrapped all my K-400’s that I’ve owned in sound deadening material. Definitely makes a difference in the knock test, but not so much in actual listening. I also like the experience.
  5. Looks like something westcoastdrums would post. Wish he was still around here.
  6. Finally in the 20’s here. I’m ready for spring. Anyone live close to Nashville? There is a concert I want to go to on Tuesday. Wondering how the roads are.
  7. That’s one heck of a sub!
  8. I knew you’d love them. They are a hard speaker to beat.
  9. A third Forte speaker would be your best option, just as MMurg suggested. I tried two different Academy’s in two different systems and didn’t care for it at all.
  10. I’ve compared them both in La Scala’s. Not K-horns, but my experience is very similar to yours. I’ve just always read on here that the K-43 is superior to the K-33 in upper bass. You would think just by looking at a K-43 it would be better. Much beefier. That is just not the case. I do like the extra power handling, but I’ve never had any trouble with K-33’s in that regard either. Thanks for the info.
  11. Could you explain some of the differences you experienced with the two woofers? I have had both and really can’t tell much difference between the two.
  12. I’ve always wanted to try a set of those or Kp-456’s.
  13. Someone needs to have a talk with your boss.
  14. I would say no. You’d be better off with the PM8006 between those 2.
  15. I’d say it might be better. Chorus 1 can be pushed against the wall. I think the mid horn is better on the 2, but I’d still go Chorus over Hersey IV. I’d go Chorus over any other Klipsch home speaker that isn’t horn loaded.
  16. They don’t need a ton of power and will sound ok with the PM8006. Chorus speakers sound good at low listening volumes, but don’t really start to shine until you give them some power. I could never get them to “open up” with the PM8006. They seemed lifeless with that amp. I don’t really know how else to explain it. Other’s here can probably explain it better. An amp with higher current and higher wattage just sounds better with the Chorus line. It doesn’t have to be expensive, one of the best amps I ran with them was the B&K ST-140. You can pick them up pretty cheap. If you end up with the Chorus, message me and I can give you a lot more suggestions on amps and placement. They are a really good speaker that don’t get the praise they deserve.
  17. You can’t really compare the Heresy to the Chorus. I would pick the Chorus II over the Heresy IV in any situation. That is just my opinion. The only downfall to the Chorus II is they need space behind them to sound their best so they end up taking quite a bit of space. Minimum of 1ft. between them and a wall or corner. They also need more power than the PM8006 that you have. I am speaking from experience.
  18. Have you listened to both of them side by side? I don’t necessarily think the Hersey will have better long term value either. The PM8006 will suit the Hersey much better than the Chorus.
  19. I remember when you were in the process of building these. They look great. Without reading back through that thread, how do you like the results?
  20. I think this is a duplicate post in the wrong thread.
  21. I don’t have them anymore. I do miss them though. I think they are the best direct radiator speaker in the Klipsch home speaker category. The amps that sounded best on the Chorus were a B&K ST-140, Yamaha M-85 and a B&K Ref4420. Most will disagree, but the more quality power, the better on Chorus.
  22. I too had the Marantz PM8006. I ran it with a set of Chorus II. I didn’t care for it at all.
  23. Vodka and cranberry??? Would have figured only White Russians.
