After seeing the Vintage Wood Sign... it inspired me to create some alternative wallpaper versions. Thought I'd post & share them here.

I'm a Petrol Head. among many of my favorite tracks (Nürburgring, Monza, Monaco, etc.) Laguna Seca is my favorite. I have a cousin in CA & he sent me a Laguna Seca t-shirt... & a "H-M" t-shirt. Cool stuff.

He won many (car, & bike) races & had to turn down even more due to varies movie roles. His race name was "H-M".

Agree with all above, certainly it depends on the listening area & room width to determine the degree & angle.. but I've always toed mine in.

Great choice! As you can see I'm a big fan of anything car/racing/bike related. Bullitt, Grand Prix, Get Away are always a great watch. My favorite from that era is Le Mans... Bullitt has great car chases... but the movie itself is a bit like watching paint dry. I gotta dig out Le Mans this week.

Went old school & watched the original. Always a good time. Fun to revisit #1 again & see all the characters when they were introduced. Now I just gotta wait 5-6 months.... for "7" to get released.

Love the idea. For me the most important speakers are the Center & Subs (everything else augments or fills in what they can't provide) I always stayed with my original RC-7.... & never made the move to the 64-ll. (space has never been an issue for me) I'm sure the Quad 6-1/2's have their strengths (& slightly longer than my RC-7)... but always felt that I'd miss my Dual 8's. One thing I've always wanted to address or improve upon, is expanding the sweet spot & widening the center sound stage. With 2-3-4 people it's obviously fine, but add more people, the sweet spot seems to shrink & somewhat diminish. The Dual 8"... RC-7 is: 26" The Quad 6-1/2"... 64ll is 35-3/4" I would have to guess a Quad 8" would have to be around 45-48" That expansive sound stage would have quite an impact & definitely increase the sweet spot. Right now if I switch to the 64ll... I only gain about 4" on either side of the sweet spot. With a Quad 8"... I'd almost double it. Excellent!

Originally a day-one purchase, I watched it again last night (probably the 5th x) & I still enjoyed every moment. A fresh, modern take with the genre with tons of attitude & interesting characters everywhere. John Wick strikes the perfect balance of calm & serenity combined with deliberate, matter of fact chaos. The fight choreography & gun-play is outstanding. Lots of memorable dialog & one-liners. Great score, even better soundtrack with music selections that hit all the right notes at just the right time. The audio filled the entire room from start to finish & the PQ was excellent. The sound engineer should have won an Oscar for the rumble of the Mustang alone. I can easily see this becoming a new franchise for Keanu. Good Stuff. I can't wait to watch it again.

That's great news, thanks for the update! I have the Denon X4100W with Atmos decoding & over the past 6 months I’ve played with 4 different pairs of speakers in various placements & configurations. And I can say that I really appreciate & prefer the upward firing Atmos option. With that approach... the speaker shoots the audio upwards (at an angle), hits the ceiling, reflects, disperses & falls down to the listener. Visually think of it as a wave that rises, curls & cascades over you when at the beach. By comparison, conventional ceiling or wall mount speakers are great & have been around for a quite some tiime, but they all deliver audio from a “fixed” position. Ceiling speakers in the home environment (with 8-10-12 foot ceilings) don't have the space to disperse. Just for example in John Wick (a great Atmos Blu-ray) .... when playing the standard Dolby TrueHD track; it has the barrage of bullets, helicopters & rainfall "coming at you" at ear level (very directional, either from the front or rear)... very much an "Equator" only sound hemisphere. It just hits you from "1" sound stage. With the ATMOS track.... the barrage of bullets, helicopters & rainfall hits you from the "whole, northern" sound hemisphere above you... not just the linear "ear level equator". In the real world, when a gun is fired in a room... the concussion of sound, expands hits the ceiling & fills the room. The sound doesn't come from a fixed position (i.e., front left corner). That dome of sound is really effective & noticeably different with the Atmos track. That example demonstrates the benefit an Atmos track provides & I'm only using 2 front modules. I can only imagine how great & immersive the sound will be when I add an additional pair of upward firing modules to the back as well. Good stuff! I can't wait for future updates.

Thanks! The KPT-8001 & the KPT-100 are good reccomendations. When reproducing Atmos in the home environment, I personally prefer an upward firing speaker vs. a traditional ceilling or wall mounted “height” speaker. So... it would be easy to take the traditional wall mount KTP-8001 & repurpose it as an upward firing Atmos speaker. Not 100% if the angle is correct, but the cabinet design of the 8001 certainly mimics an upward firing Atmos module, plus the 8” woofer would seem to be a good timbre match with my exiting set-up. They do have a rather large foot print (almost 19” x 16’) so it will have consideralble overahang sitting (horizontal) on top of my RF-7’s. The KTP-100 is longer (21” x 11”), but the width is less awkward than the 8001. I’ll keep my eye open & see if either resurface in the secondary market.

It's been almost 3 months now... curious if anyone has heard of updates since CES. Any word on release dates for the Klipsch Atmos speakers or the separate add-on modules? Even a ballpark timeline would be great (2nd-Quarter 3rd-Quarter??) Looking forward to the specs as well, 6" woofers??... 8"? Can't wait to add 4 of the upward firing modules from Klipsch.

Dusted this off & been rewatching Season 4 again this week. Finished it last night. Man it seems to take longer & longer for each new season to start. Tonight should be fun.

I'm simply warning others not to read your earlier post... unless of course they want to know how the movie ends for 2 of the main characters. I suspect most people (who haven't seen the movie) don't want to have that info prior to watching. Nothing complicated about that. Since you like witty... look up "spoiler" in the dictionary. It seems you have difficulty grasping the concept. I'm done derailing this thread over a bone-headed comment.

Based on his response that's doubtful... he thinks its funny. It's not. He thinks the movie has a punchline. It does not. He thinks the movie is about spaceships. It's not. - - - As with any movie, it's about the characters, their relationships to each other & how their individual story arcs; begin, interact & are eventually resolved at movies end. If you've not seen the movie... you don't know how the story line of 2 of the main characters will unfold. If you read his post (like unfortunately I did) you essentially know (before the movie even starts) what happens to them (40 minutes into the movie) & how they end up a full 2 hours later (when in fact you shouldn't know how their story is resolved). Yeah that's real funny. Best way to make it simple... just ignore his post(s). btw derrick... I don't "need" to watch it again to understand the movie. And I certainly don't need you to tell me to watch it again. Keep your witty comments for your friends & family, not directed at me.

Finally watched Interstellar tonight. Great ride. Would have enjoyed it even more if it wasn't for the asinine post from derrickdj1 (#1144). Geezz, who does that ?!? EDIT: If you've yet to watch Interstellar.... don't read the aforementioned post #1144 or you'll be as pissed as I am.

Gravity: Diamond Luxe Edition. It was fun to watch the new Atmos (lossless) mix at home― via 5.2.2. Visually the movie always took advantage of a 360° environment― with rotating-tumbling actors & the long flyby shots zooming across the screen filled with debris & chaos. Now the audio track contributes (even more) to the 360° environment with the new Atmos mix. In space there is no such thing as "up or down" & likewise, the new Atmos track effectively surrounds you. I even appreciated the uneasy quiet moments, as the "stillness" of space was interrupted by the dialog & the sound effects that precisely bounced around the room. It brought a smile & really elevated the movie (no pun intended). Also included with this set, is the new "Silent Space" version― which eliminates the movies score (presented in 5.1 Dolby― not Atmos). For me it worked as a fresh unique approach, but the absence of the score really changed the feel of the movie. It was a far more intimate (almost a first person) experience that further highlighted the claustrophobic & isolation aspect. They say in space no one can hear you scream― with the Silent Space version― no one can hear the "score" (lol). The Silent Space presentation is lossy, I wish it had been an Atmos lossless track, but it never once crossed my mind while actually watching. I still enjoyed it very much, it will be interesting to see more films experiment with this approach in the future. I am disappointed that a 3D version was not offered in this release. I own the earlier 3D release (5.1 DTS-HD MA) which obviously is quite excellent, but it would have been outstanding to experience a 3D Atmos version. The thought of a 3D Silent Space version with Atmos would be eerie & creepy in a good way, but sadly that will have to wait for another day. The addition of those configurations would have made for the perfect re-release, especially since this is already a double dip for me. But for what it is... (as an Atmos early adopter) it was a must have & I enjoyed both of the new versions that were presented. As a bonus, there are a ton of new Special Features with the second disc, but I've yet to get to any of them yet. Transformers AoE, Expendables 3 & John Wick were all great Atmos editions (especially John Wick)... but the Gravity Diamond Luxe release is a demo-worthy experience all around. Loved it. I'm going to watch it again tonight.

Hi everyone, I joined the forum & wanted to create my 1st thread & say hello. Like most, I'm a HT Enthusiast & I've happily owned Klipsch for over 15 years now. What brought me here was Atmos. I ran across the forum in January & I followed the info Chad was posting from CES. I've been waiting (hoping) for an Atmos announcement from Klipsch & I'm happy to see they'll soon be offering both floor standing & add-on modules. Last September I upgraded to Denon's new 7.2 Channel, AVR-X4100W with Dolby Atmos, so naturally I've been anxiously waiting for Klipsch add-on modules to pair with my RF-7's/ RC-7 & RS-7's. Still early for Atmos, but one could argue that in-ceiling/overhead speakers would provide the best results acoustically, however the in-ceiling approach is not the best route for me (I have solid, finished, wood ceilings). At the same time I've read where some (Industry Professionals) have suggested that upward firing speakers work just as well (if not better) than dedicated in-ceiling speakers. Like I said it's still "early" in the world of Atmos. Not to mention, software (disc-authoring) will play an equally important role as hardware, but that's an completely separate issue moving forward. Right now upward-firing add-on modules is the approach I'm taking, unfortunately the available options are pretty limited (weak) right now. Both Onkyo & Def-Tech have some initial offerings, but they are rather anemic with single 3" paper cones & neither are of interest. KEF has a interesting showing with their R50's (5.25" woofer & 1" tweeter) (7" x 7" x 10").... but a pair of modules are pricey at $1200. Prior to the Klipsch CES announcement, I grabbed a pair of Atlantic Technology 44-DA upward firing add-on modules. They offer similar specs to the KEF with 5.25" woofer & 1" tweeter (& only slightly smaller footprint at 5.5" 8.3" 9.5") but are more affordable at $440 a pair. I currently have them positioned as front heights, on top of my RF-7's (L/R), completing my current 5.2.2 set up The past month I've been playing with Transformers: Age of Extinction & The Expendables 3 (both ATMOS authored titles) & I can assure that the addition of L/R height channels help to fill in & add to the overall experience. The physical size of the 44-DA's seem rather small on top of my RF-7's, but despite their size, they still perform really well. Transformers: Age of Extinction really comes to life with the ATMOS soundtrack, lots of opportunity for for demo-worthy moments. Set up was via Audyssey MultEQ XT32 & I've even done some "A/B" comparisons with the smaller 44-DA on the "right-height", and using my massive RS-7 on the "left-height". Also did the same "A/B" comparison with the 44-DA & my RB-35... and in both comparisons the 44-DA's still held up fairly well (but naturally with a less impact & dynamic range). My system will really benefit by having a set of Klipsch add-on modules, so in the future I'll move the smaller 44-DA's to the (L/R S) height position, on top of my RS-7's (L/R S). Then when released, use a pair of timber matched Klipsch add-on Atmos modules for my L/R front heights (on top of my RF-7's). That end result will will provide a nice 5.2.4 set up... and a big smile! Really looking forward to the full specs, release date & pricing with the Klipsch add-on modules (an 8" woofer would be great). Plus, we have upcoming ATMOS titles: John Wick, Exodus & a Diamond Luxe Gravity re-issue all coming soon! Here's some pics of the rather small 44-DA's, along with comparison pics with my RS-7's. Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn. More of a Prologue/Mini-Series than a Movie for the masses, but it's certainly an (audio) demo worthy disc nonetheless. Whether you're a fan of the franchise or have never heard of Master Chief.... this 90 minute live-action production will wake up every speaker in the house & the LFE will kick you in the gut non-stop (without apology) & make you smile. The Blu-ray can currently be had for under $9 bucks, pick one up... your sub(s) will thank you.

I have & recommend the same OPPO BDP-103. Congrats on landing a great piece of new gear! I've always been curious about the Darbee Edition. Curious to see if the additional VDP modes enhance or distract.
