  1. Bump from the dead! Had to buy a new washer/dryer this week, so a little extra cash would be nice...
  2. I was thinking the same thing. These look fantastic, and I'm glad they aren't anywhere near me
  3. at least they are in a nicer set of cabs now . happy to see they went to a good home, and now I can dig into my CS1 project with the old cabs. Just need to see if @MookieStl is still willing to cut me some new motorboards...
  4. Glad it worked out, and it was great to meet you. Hopefully our paths cross again soon for some more serious listening
  5. I have a pair of H1's that I am struggling to find a use for in our new home. I'm in Saint Michael, where are you?
  6. Yeah they have always seemed bass shy to me, and I've compared to everything else in the house (KG4.5, KG3.5, RP-160M, RF3II, Heresy). Only the Heresy comes up short in comparison. I've run them on 200w Outlaw monos and even then I found them lacking unless I played with eq and had them at high volume. For the last few months in the new house I've been running them on a little Teac with 30wpc, they sound fine but I had to run a sub to fill out the lower end. I've been running the CF-3's on that same amp and the difference is very noticeable. Maybe I need to look into crossover upgrades...maybe there's something wrong with the woofers? Maybe I'm just doing it wrong. I should get the Outlaws hooked up to them soon though, and do some A/B with the CF-3's LOL, not trying to show off, just got lucky and ended up with 2 pairs in a single week. I should have bought a lottery ticket while I was at it!
  7. I'm all for experimenting with that, but it does mean I'll have to reconfigure the cabinet setup for my gear. time for some plywood and threaded rod! Mookie! Good to see you back here. The Chorus are still alive and well, I was using them every day until about a week ago, but only with a sub as they don't move a whole lot of air on their own. As far as my impressions, well I think the Chorus just aren't quite up to snuff when compared to these. To be fair, Epic CF-2's were my first Klipsch speakers, bought them in 2013 and I still miss them but these CF-3's are even better. I know I'm probably biased here, but the Epics outshine the Chorus in almost every way. I still love the Chorus but they may end up getting squeezed out soon unless I can find a way to make them sound better
  8. Hah, I see what you did there My current plan is to use the black CF3's as my mains, and either a single oak CF3 as a center or both of them as rears (in which case I'd use the KLF-C7 as the center). My concern with using them in the rear is that the couches will block a good chunk of the output due to the MTM layout. I'm probably better off using the C7 as the center and those KG4.5's for the rears. That gives me an excuse to use the oak CF3's in my office Oh and the speakers behind them are the Chorus I's from @Matthews. I need to find a place for those too, but I haven't even finished unpacking so that might be a while.
  9. Nope, I've only had them downstairs for a couple days now. I think the whole room is shifting 90 degrees anyway, so it will be a while before I get anything dialed in.
  10. I fed them after midnight and ended up with 2 more::
  11. The ports are 2.5" deep. I'm not up on the versions but I believe these are v3 according to @mimalmo who looked at them yesterday. Thank you, I'm excited to get them set up :). I had CF2's for years, sold them in 2016 but I regret it. These will more than make up for that. Thanks! These are keepers for sure
  12. Picked them up tonight! Now I just need someone to help me get them out of the truck...
  13. A couple of us have been in contact. I was supposed to head over today but he just told me he can't meet now. I fear I've lost them to someone else.
  14. My dad has lived in that area for 20 years. Doesn't seem terribly bad to me, but I didn't check out every street either. I was in LV for 2 weeks back in November, and I checked CL daily for good deals but nothing like these came up. Not that they're good deals necessarily, but there was just nothing interesting for sale while I was out there.
  15. Thanks Moray, I look forward to getting my hands on them this summer. Now I need to decide on some drivers and bass bins
  16. looks like I picked a bad time to be out of town .
  17. Upper Peninsula. You mentioned finding something in Michigan but west of Lake Michigan, so the UP came to mind.
  18. Hoping to find something on the UP?
  19. I'm pretty sure he owes me a favor or two, so I don't think he'd have a problem picking them up. He lives in Langdon and works in Calgary, not sure which one might be closer to you. If the UPS thing falls through for the other guy let me know, thanks.
  20. I'd be interested in these. My brother-in-law lives in Calgary, he could probably pick them up if I bribe him. I see him in Winnipeg about once a year so I'd be able to transport them back home to Minnesota soon.
  21. I brine mine for about 24 hours. I just leave it in the garage since it's cold enough up here in the frozen north...stays at around 36-40 inside the bucket. Good thing I didn't have to brine it a few days ago when it was 3 degrees outside.
  22. I've been using the AMNPS 5x8 for about 6 years now. Mostly used it for cold smoking home-cured bacon but I have also done a lot of cheese, which turns out great. As for my turkey, I used to smoke them but I was never happy with the flavor so about 8 years ago I began brining them for 24-48 hours, then leaving them in the fridge overnight to dry out on a platter. I rub fresh herbs and butter under the skin and cook it at 400F using this method, which only takes 2 hours or even less if it's smaller: https://lifehacker.com/5860136/this-is-how-you-should-cook-your-turkey-next-thursday-or-you-could-waste-hours-of-your-life Roast turkey for 45 minutes. Remove pan from oven; baste turkey with juices from pan. Using 2 large wads of paper towels, turn turkey wing side up. If liquid in pan has totally evaporated, add another 1/2 cup water. Return turkey to oven and roast for 15 minutes. Remove turkey from oven again, baste, and rotate so that other wing side is up; roast for another 15 minutes. Remove turkey from oven again, baste, and turn it breast side up; roast until breast registers 160 degrees and thighs register 175 degrees, 30 to 45 minutes.
  23. What he deems as realistic is up to him I guess. I don't think he has any regrets no matter what price he paid (and I don't know what he paid ) Not sure about the Lear jet part, but yes they do look fantastic and I am sure he is quite happy with them. No congrats to me, I just followed along while he decided to buy something he knew he would really enjoy. Unfortunately I am thousands of miles away so I will never get to hear them. They are beautiful indeed. I'd love something like this in my own basement/listening room but I don't have 2 proper corners to manage it.
