I'm the proud new owner of these Heresy speakers!  They'll be my surrounds to go along with Heresy II fronts and an Academy center.

at least they are in a nicer set of cabs now :) .  happy to see they went to a good home, and now I can dig into my CS1 project with the old cabs.  Just need to see if @MookieStl is still willing to cut me some new motorboards...

Never heard the Chorus describe as bass shy, but you do need to put some serious watts behind them to get them to really shine. I only heard those for a couple minutes, so never really got to know them, they did sound good though. Updates are available for the tweeter diaphragm and the x-over could use an upgrade it you want them to "sound better". BUT if you have a certain sound that does it for you with the CF series, go for it. It only matter what sounds good to you.

For me that sound it the LaScalas (or Belles). They just have the sound I love.

What every you do, good luck and enjoy.

    Mike

Yeah they have always seemed bass shy to me, and I've compared to everything else in the house (KG4.5, KG3.5, RP-160M, RF3II, Heresy).  Only the Heresy comes up short in comparison.  I've run them on 200w Outlaw monos and even then I found them lacking unless I played with eq and had them at high volume.  For the last few months in the new house I've been running them on a little Teac with 30wpc, they sound fine but I had to run a sub to fill out the lower end.  I've been running the CF-3's on that same amp and the difference is very noticeable.

Maybe I need to look into crossover upgrades...maybe there's something wrong with the woofers?  Maybe I'm just doing it wrong.  I should get the Outlaws hooked up to them soon though, and do some A/B with the CF-3's

    Showoff! :D  Just kidding :) AWESOME :D

LOL, not trying to show off, just got lucky and ended up with 2 pairs in a single week.  I should have bought a lottery ticket while I was at it!

I would experiment with using an Epic for center channel duty, whether upright or on its side. Yeah, a 100 pound center, a killer front 3, I think.  👍

I'm all for experimenting with that, but it does mean I'll have to reconfigure the cabinet setup for my gear.  time for some plywood and threaded rod!

Good to see those Chorus again! I will be interested to hear your take on them compared to the CF3s. Shocked to see that the 3's are actually larger than the Chorus (knew the 4s were)!

Hope they aren't getting squeezed out!

Mookie!  Good to see you back here.  The Chorus are still alive and well, I was using them every day until about a week ago, but only with a sub as they don't move a whole lot of air on their own.  As far as my impressions, well I think the Chorus just aren't quite up to snuff when compared to these.  To be fair, Epic CF-2's were my first Klipsch speakers, bought them in 2013 and I still miss them but these CF-3's are even better.  I know I'm probably biased here, but the Epics outshine the Chorus in almost every way.  I still love the Chorus but they may end up getting squeezed out soon unless I can find a way to make them sound better :(

Whoa,  that is an Epic spread of speakers.  I like the natural wood pair behind the Epics, nice!    What is the plan for the 4 CF3's ?.

Hah, I see what you did there :P

My current plan is to use the black CF3's as my mains, and either a single oak CF3 as a center or both of them as rears (in which case I'd use the KLF-C7 as the center).  My concern with using them in the rear is that the couches will block a good chunk of the output due to the MTM layout.

I'm probably better off using the C7 as the center and those KG4.5's for the rears.  That gives me an excuse to use the oak CF3's in my office :D

Oh and the speakers behind them are the Chorus I's from @Matthews.  I need to find a place for those too, but I haven't even finished unpacking so that might be a while.

congrats!  those look very nice.  can you post some pics of the ports or measure how deep they are?  curious what version they are based on the serial #?

The ports are 2.5" deep.  I'm not up on the versions but I believe these are v3 according to @mimalmo who looked at them yesterday.

Congrats, mighty fine speakers you got there!

Thank you, I'm excited to get them set up :).  I had CF2's for years, sold them in 2016 but I regret it.  These will more than make up for that.

No, it is definitely a very bad area.  Right by the Boulevard mall, where all of the anchor tenants have fled away.

My dad has lived in that area for 20 years.  Doesn't seem terribly bad to me, but I didn't check out every street either.

I was in LV for 2 weeks back in November, and I checked CL daily for good deals but nothing like these came up.  Not that they're good deals necessarily, but there was just nothing interesting for sale while I was out there.

Shaun I have one person who is considering to have UPS ship them He is not sure about pricing if he changes his min then you are next in line. Give your brother in law a call and see if he is willing.

I forgot to mention I have a pair of Peavey SP1 Mk lll two way crossovers for these. I want $50.00 CND for the pair of these if anyone out there is interested.

I'm pretty sure he owes me a favor or two, so I don't think he'd have a problem picking them up.  He lives in Langdon and works in Calgary, not sure which one might be closer to you.  If the UPS thing falls through for the other guy let me know, thanks.

On a happier note I just discovered Alton Browns secret to Brining with almost no issues. Wish I had seen this sooner, Brining in ones only fridge is a pain in the A$$

"Alton Brown: No, it’s not too long. Technically, you could brine a turkey for several days. The trick is in two things–brine concentration versus mass. You could either soak a bird for a long time in weak brine, or for a short time in a stronger one. You’re better with weaker brine and a longer soak, so take the standard brine that we use in “Good Eats,” and you could easily do that overnight. If you’re afraid of it being too salty, you might cut back to 3/4 cup of salt instead of the full cup, but leave the sugar amount the same. I’ve gotten to where I really like to thaw my turkeys in brine, because I can make my brine, keep it in a cooler, toss in my frozen bird, and leave it for days if I want without worrying about the temperature getting too high. It will stay really cold, but, at the same time, the water will help thaw the bird. So when it’s thawed, it’s already brined. But that is an imprecise science, so you have to work with it. If I feel the brine will get too warm, I’ll add a bit of ice. So far, that hasn’t happened. It stays around 40 degrees."

I brine mine for about 24 hours.  I just leave it in the garage since it's cold enough up here in the frozen north...stays at around 36-40 inside the bucket.  Good thing I didn't have to brine it a few days ago when it was 3 degrees outside.

That is nice, great for smoking cheese or fish with low temperatures,  perfect for cheese which I can't do now because of temperatures.

I've been using the AMNPS 5x8 for about 6 years now.  Mostly used it for cold smoking home-cured bacon but I have also done a lot of cheese, which turns out great.

As for my turkey, I used to smoke them but I was never happy with the flavor so about 8 years ago I began brining them for 24-48 hours, then leaving them in the fridge overnight to dry out on a platter.  I rub fresh herbs and butter under the skin and cook it at 400F using this method, which only takes 2 hours or even less if it's smaller:

    https://lifehacker.com/5860136/this-is-how-you-should-cook-your-turkey-next-thursday-or-you-could-waste-hours-of-your-life

Roast turkey for 45 minutes. Remove pan from oven; baste turkey with juices from pan. Using 2 large wads of paper towels, turn turkey wing side up. If liquid in pan has totally evaporated, add another 1/2 cup water. Return turkey to oven and roast for 15 minutes. Remove turkey from oven again, baste, and rotate so that other wing side is up; roast for another 15 minutes. Remove turkey from oven again, baste, and turn it breast side up; roast until breast registers 160 degrees and thighs register 175 degrees, 30 to 45 minutes.

Damn, he's keeping em then....   Wont be selling them at a realistic price anytime soon....

What he deems as realistic is up to him I guess.  I don't think he has any regrets no matter what price he paid (and I don't know what he paid :) )

Then you might go on the premise that one need not own a Learjet, only to have a close friend who owns a Learjet. Those look, almost, as great as they sound. Congrats to you and the new owner.

Not sure about the Lear jet part, but yes they do look fantastic and I am sure he is quite happy with them.  No congrats to me, I just followed along while he decided to buy something he knew he would really enjoy.  Unfortunately I am thousands of miles away so I will never get to hear them.

That venner is BEAUTIFUL. I found myself going back to that post too many times to count wondering how to NOT buy them.   Congrats to you both as well.

They are beautiful indeed.  I'd love something like this in my own basement/listening room but I don't have 2 proper corners to manage it.
