  1. @CoyteeLooks like original lube was: The lubricant was a mixture of tallow and beeswax. They don’t dry very fast, in fact, beeswax can dry and still lube the rifling. Last thing you want is an unexpected "boom", and an insurance claim by your wife!
  2. "I'm sorry the number you have reached has been disconnected". Maybe I should have taken the blue pill.
  3. Yea I remember that! Don't miss that at all. Well sitting out back with my morning cup of coffee, watching the koi and listening to the waterfall (and the Lascala's in the far background).
  4. Amps not being equal, and personal listening perception all across the listening spectrum, what is your AMP of choice? Your 2¢ please. I have a chance to buy a McIntosh Mc275 from a friend for not much but still pretty salty.
  5. Two for my son's wedding present and two for me. A friend lasered them. Brass badges and brass screws for the handles. Only flash allowed. And with the few leftovers that there were I made outdoor bases.
  6. Total costs were about $3,400. Labor was free but spanned almost 12 months. @Shakeydealyes you are correct. Looking at a Mcintosh mc275 but I may not make Santa's nice list this year.
  7. The end of the build and the beginning of the enjoyment. Challenging builds for sure, veneered plywood was not friendly. Looking at Super Heresy's for the next builds, Hehe! might have to get with @MookieStlon these. Just wanted to say thanks for all of the encouragement and words of wisdom. Handles being an awesome suggestion. Sadly, I did not know this. I agree 100% as his advice helped me. Oh yes! See the EQ pic of some listening adjustments. At testing, at less than 50 watts my tinnitus is getting fired up.
  8. Woofers mounted. Used 10-32 T-nuts and 10-32 NF 1 1/4 Truss machine screws. @djkthank you so much for this real world advise on using 10-32 in lieu of 1/4. Started using my vintage 1884 Hay Trolley to raise and lower each cabinet. Not sure what they weigh but they exceed my lifting capacity.
  9. I understand the bang. Slim Harpo (Louisiana swamp Blues). The Rolling Stones, Muddy Waters, The Grateful Dead, The Kinks, Pink Floyd all took inspiration from Slim. A lot of R.I.P.'s here. Better late than never for my ears.
  10. Max our 11yo Black Lab rescue having to listen to the radio in-lieu of albums.
  11. Thank you for your advice @Marvel. Backs are removable and woofers are waiting to be installed. I countersunk the 2 t-nuts before I installed the upper and lower angled diverters. The remaining t-nuts will be face attached on the baffle. Should have, barely, enough access to all 8 machine screws inside the doghouse.
  12. FYI every time anyone checks your credit out your rating takes a hit. Also reductions in credit lines causes a hit (no matter who initiates). IMHO freeze your credit with ALL three credit reporting agencies, don't miss payments, and pay the balance off (if possible) when due, and check regularly (could be someone else has their hand in your cookie jar). I don't like dealing with these agencies-just a necessary annoyance. 840 frozen and happy.
  13. Minwax True Black stain done. It was motivational to listen to Back in Black. Minwax Warm Satin sealer next.
  14. @CoyteeFWIW, my last two Honda Accords both had over 230,000 miles when I traded them in. Start with a check of maintenance with a laptop through the Diagnostic port.
  15. Just a very very light dab/touch of Carolina Reaper juice on the inside of each grill. Nose height, no problem anymore. Footnote: If cat brings you a bowl of guacamole, you are in trouble.
  16. Just a matter of time for a solution to a common issue!
  17. Installed some solid white oak verticals that I ripped in-lieu of the 3/4" veneered glued verticals that seemed too weak. Added some extra items for smoother sound wave direction (corner 45's and split side supports) IMHO.
  18. Thanks. I will take my, Methaqualone, with my morning coffee. May not call you though. HEHE. Zzzzzz.
  19. Easy, Keith Moon. @JL Sargent you did not specify if they were still with us. Sadly R.I.P. Charlie Watts and Micky Hart as well, also R.I.P.
  20. Caveat emptor. Let the buyer beware. There is a difference from brand to brand as well as within brands. Go ahead and test drive several, take them home, kick the tires (so to speak), and look for something your body needs help with (neck, back, side) etc. You spend 1/3 of your life here so, make an informed decision. As with contractors - take the lowest bid ($) and the highest bid ($) and toss them. Happy hunting.
  21. "Living on LSD". Classic lyrics.
  22. More progress and assembly updates. Red oak plywood solid and getting heavier (glad I incorporated handles). Thanks to regulars about pitfalls early on!!
  23. It's ok it is only the dark side of the moon. HEHE.
