  1. I'm interested in the speakers. How much would shipping be to Michigan? My zip code is 48328. How would you prefer to receive payment? Let me know.
  2. I may be interested in taking the pair of KLF-20s off your hands. They would make nice rear speakers for my 6.1 setup. Let me know what kind of price you're looking to get out of them. I'm in the Detroit area also (Rochester Hills).
  3. How did you draw that conclusion?
  4. Oh man, I just had to reply when I saw that "stretched mode" comment. What the heck do you mean by stretched. Full Screen movies are "CHOPPED OFF", in other words, you don't get to see the whole movie. Ben Hur would look absolutley horrid on your preferred 4:3 view of things. Just my opinion though.
  5. Definitely go to the store and take some of your favorite music and movies. I feel that is the best way to audition a system. I am a huge Legends fan, not totally sold on the new reference line. But too each his own. Receiver wise, I love my Denon. Onkyo also makes some nice equipment as well. If you have any questions, drop me a note.
  6. Hey john, Here's a direct link to the soundtrack list: http://us.imdb.com/Soundtracks?0079271 If you go to www.imdb.com, that's the Internet Movie Database. Incredible site, allowing searches by Movie Title, Actor/Actress. Once you find the movie, look in the lefthand column. Anything else that is available about the movie will show as a link (underlined in blue). Hope this helps! ------------------ DVD HT System ******************** KLF-30 mains RSW-15 subwoofer KLF-C7 center KLF-30 side surrounds KSW-200 subwoofer KG-3.5 rear surrounds Denon AVR5800 Pioneer Elite DV09 Pioneer Elite PDF19 RCA DTC100 DSS/HDTV Microsoft X-Box Denon MD1000 Vidikron Epoch D600 Vutec 100" 4:3 1.5 gain Daily HDTV System ************************ Klipsch Synergy System 6 Denon AVR5700 Toshiba SD3750 Toshiba DST3000 HD/DSS Philips DSR600 DirecTivo Toshiba 50HX81 HDTV
  7. I have the System 6 setup on my everyday system (see signature). Viewing for this is probably 90% DSS/HDTV and 10% occasional movie (if I don't feel like firing up the big system). I did upgrade the sub to a KSW12 instead of the KSW10 that comes standard with it. It won't "Rock the House", but it does do a very good job as it sits. 8. Hey jwadd, I have the Toshiba SD3750 and am running it through my Denon AVR5700. Sounds very good, using the digital coax connector. I am running the video through a Toshiba 50HX81 with a direct connect between TV and DVD Player. Awesome Picture! Just an additional comment. Pioneer makes excellent optical laser products for both CD and DVD. My main system has a Pioneer Elite DV-09 that handles DVDs and CDs very, very well. This is on my HT setup, a 100" screen with projector. ------------------ KLF-30 mains RSW-15 subwoofer KLF-C7 center KLF-30 side surrounds KSW-200 subwoofer KG-3.5 rear surrounds Denon AVR5800 Pioneer Elite DV09 Pioneer Elite PDF19 RCA DTC100 DSS/HDTV Sony Playstation 2 Denon MD1000 Vidikron Epoch D600 Vutec 100" 4:3 1.5 gain
  9. I have four KLF30s in use for my home theatre system. Absolutley love their detail, much more so than the two way design of the current RF line. I did a side by side comparison with the KLF30s and the second generation RF7s. A friend of mine brought over a pair of RF7-IIs and hooked them to my system. We used the Lobby Scene from the "Matrix", Normandy beach landing from "Saving Private Ryan" and a few songs from "Two Against Nature" by Steely Dan. Needless to say, he went with KLF30s. I can best put it this way though, I myself can hear the noticable difference between the two way and three way designs and so did he. Your experience may be different. I know there are other legend lovers here, hopefully they will chime in also. ------------------ KLF-30 mains RSW-15 subwoofer KLF-C7 center KLF-30 side surrounds KSW-200 subwoofer KG-3.5 rear surrounds Denon AVR5800 Pioneer Elite DV09 Pioneer Elite PDF19 RCA DTC100 DSS/HDTV Sony Playstation 2 Denon MD1000 Vidikron Epoch D600 Vutec 100" 4:3 1.5 gain
  10. Hey Kenratboy, I am surprised that you call 37% - 40% faster benchmarks WITH BETA DRIVERS getting lucky. I have used ATI cards with Intel motherboards for years. NEVER once did I run into a problem with Doom, Unreal, Half-Life or any other other demanding games. But to be fair, I have read of people having problems when they use chipsets other than Intel. I am waiting on the new 9700 card. To me, nVidia is to ATI as AMD is to Intel, always trying to be a bit faster and less expensive (cheaper). I did hardware evals for years for a major (read fortune 50 company) so I got to play with quite a bit of stuff. Give me Microsoft, Dell, Intel, ATI, HP for printers. They are companies that listen to their customer base. Sure, they may cost a bit more upfront, but the gains are in fewer problems and less need for "fixes". It IS good to see other's opinions though. ------------------ KLF-30 mains RSW-15 subwoofer KLF-C7 center KLF-30 side surrounds KSW-200 subwoofer KG-3.5 rear surrounds Denon AVR5800 Pioneer Elite DV09 Pioneer Elite PDF19 RCA DTC100 DSS/HDTV Sony Playstation 2 Denon MD1000 Vidikron Epoch D600 Vutec 100" 4:3 1.5 gain
  11. The Ear, I have to disagree and vehemently I might add about your comments regarding the Legends. I listened to KLF30s and RF7s side by side. RF7s LACK detail comparatively. I listened to indentical music and movie scenes in my home setup, first using the RF7s, then my curent KLF30s. Granted, it's just one man's opinion but I wish Klipsch would put some money into a new, updated legend series. PLEASE, PLEASE, OH PLEASE go bakc to a three way design. Just my two cents worth. ------------------ KLF-30 mains RSW-15 subwoofer KLF-C7 center KLF-30 side surrounds KSW-200 subwoofer KG-3.5 rear surrounds Denon AVR5800 Pioneer Elite DV09 Pioneer Elite PDF19 RCA DTC100 DSS/HDTV Sony Playstation 2 Denon MD1000 Vidikron Epoch D600 Vutec 100" 4:3 1.5 gain
  12. I think many people feel that horn loaded speakers are too "Bright", as some call it. Yet several of my friends who don't own Klipsch love listening to my system. Two are horn players, they feel that klipsch reproduces horns very "Accurately" compared to many of the other systems they have heard. They mentioned that they sounded much like the Altec Lansing (I think) Voice of the Theatre speakers that are used as PAs in large halls. Also, cymbal crashed sound very "Accurate", not like someone striking a juice can lid. Xylephones sound incredible also. I love to demo my system using "Jazz at the Pawnshop" CDs. These are live recording done with very few mics and in a small jazz club. If you can find them, try one out, I highly recommend them. I love my Klipsch and prefer them to that "Warm" or as I call it "Muffled" sound of many other speakers. Bottom line though ... to each his own. ------------------ KLF-30 mains RSW-15 subwoofer KLF-C7 center KLF-30 side surrounds KSW-200 subwoofer KG-3.5 rear surrounds Denon AVR5800 Pioneer Elite DV09 Pioneer Elite PDF19 RCA DTC100 DSS/HDTV Sony Playstation 2 Denon MD1000 Vidikron Epoch D600 Vutec 100" 4:3 1.5 gain
  13. I agree with the other guys, Legends are much sounding then the new Reference series speakers. A cymbal crash or a plucked string do not sound as accurate on the new speakers. I dare say a bit muffled compared to the legends. I was surprised when the new line was only using a two-way design instead of the 3way from the bigger legends. I know it comes down to personal taste and all, but LEGENDS RULE when it comes to reproducing sound, be it HT or Music. ------------------ KLF30 mains RSW15 Subwoofer KLFC7 center KLF30 side surrounds KSW200 Subwoofer KG3.5 rear surrounds Denon AVR5800 Pioneer Elite DV09 Pioneer Elite PDF19 RCA DTC100 DSS/HDTV Sony Playstation 2 Denon MD1000 Vidikron Epoch D600 Vutec 100" 4:3 1.5 gain
  14. I have a Vidikron Epoch D600 LCD projector. Been using it for over a year with a 1.5 gain Vu-lite fixed mount 100" screen. This projector blows away the Sonys and at 12' from the screen, the "screen door" effect isn't visible. SOurces are DVD and DirecTV, DirecTv HD and OA HDTV. All are spectacular pictures. I have yet to build mattes to frame my letter box material. But if you're enjoying the movie the not quite black isn't bad. 15. Hey BB! You are going to love the RSW15s. I have one installed as the sub for my KLF30 mains and moved my KSW200 as the sub for KLF30 surrounds. In a word .... WOW. Just a ton of bass slam for both home theatre and music. I am still trying to decide if I should set my surround 30s to small though. Bass is great with them set to large as it is. The RSW15 performs very well, rumbling my concrete floor in my home theatre. So far, it's only been a few days, but this sub really rocks! I am using the RCA bass cable to connect for LFE use. Used such movies as U-571, Gladiator, Titan A.E. to test out the bass. Does a great job with handling music as well. It is currently configured as my main sub, with my existing KSW200 now being placed behind my couch and wired to my two surround KLF30s. They are currently set to large, so there is some experimentation going on. I will keep you posted. ------------------ KLF30 mains RSW15 Subwoofer KLFC7 center KLF30 side surrounds KSW200 Subwoofer KG3.5 rear surrounds Denon AVR5800 Pioneer Elite DV09 Pioneer Elite PDF19 RCA DTC100 DSS/HDTV Sony Playstation 2 Denon MD1000 Vidikron Epoch D600 Vutec 100" 4:3 1.5 gain
  17. I think BobG will back me up here. The S6s were never really designed to match up with the legends. They were just the closest you could come by, so many folks started using them. I am looking to replace my KG3.5s soon, I used them because they were gathering dust in my closet. I wll probably go with 20s or 30s here soon, but had to move some money around so I have to wait. ------------------ KLF-30 mains KLF-C7 center KLF-30 side surrounds KG 3.5 rear surrounds KSW200 subwoofer Denon AVR5800 Pioneer Elite DV-09 Pioneer Elite PD-F19 RCA DTC100 DSS/HDTV Sony Playstation 2 Denon MD1000 Vidikron Epoch D-600 Vutec 100" 4:3 1.5 gain
  18. Hey WB, How about moving S6s to the rear effects and picking up another pair of 30s for the surrounds? I use all direct radiating speakers. 30s for mains and surrounds, C7 for center and KG 3.5s for the rear effects. My main reason for chosing direct radiating is two fold. First, I bought a pair of S6s, tried them for a short time and then sold them. Secondly, Iif you go to a theatre, they use direct radiating speakers there as well, as recommended by Dolby Labs (though they do mention di-poles and bi-poles as well. There are a few other disciples of the direct radiating surrounds on this site. Maybe they will jump into this discussion also. I guess it all boils down to what sounds best to you anyway. Also the new RF surrounds are suppose to be an even better match than the S6s for the Legends. Get a pair of those for surrounds and move the S6s to the rears. Good luck, if you have any further questions, let me know. ------------------ KLF-30 mains KLF-C7 center KLF-30 side surrounds KG 3.5 rear surrounds KSW200 subwoofer Denon AVR5800 Pioneer Elite DV-09 Pioneer Elite PD-F19 RCA DTC100 DSS/HDTV Sony Playstation 2 Denon MD1000 Vidikron Epoch D-600 Vutec 100" 4:3 1.5 gain
  19. THEEar, In both the highs and the midrange there is just enought there, for me anyway> to pick the threeway design of the KLFs over the twoway design of the RFs. With detail I am referring to cymbal crashes being a bit more crisp, the shell casing hitting the marble floor in the "Matrix" lobby scene. Things like that are my idea of detail that I listen for. The "Jazz at the Pawnshop" CDs also posses a great deal of detail, other than music. It wasn't as prevalent on the RFs as it is on the KLFs. Bottom line still remains is that it is what sounds good to YOU. Good chatting with you ------------------ KLF-30 mains KLF-C7 center KLF-30 side surrounds KG 3.5 rear surrounds KSW200 subwoofer Denon AVR5800 Pioneer Elite DV-09 Pioneer Elite PD-F19 RCA DTC100 DSS/HDTV Sony Playstation 2 Denon MD1000 Vidikron Epoch D-600 Vutec 100" 4:3 1.5 gain
  20. A question for you GeorgeC. You mentioned that you felt the RF-7s had more detail. Did you also try movies thru them as well. I found the RF-7 to be lacking in detail compared to the KLF-30. Both pairs were played thru a Denon AVR5800, which also what I have in my home system. How do you define detail? Of course everyone has their own taste, but was just curious is all...Thanks and enjoy your new speakers. ------------------ KLF-30 mains KLF-C7 center KLF-30 side surrounds KG 3.5 rear surrounds KSW200 subwoofer Denon AVR5800 Pioneer Elite DV-09 Pioneer Elite PD-F19 RCA DTC100 DSS/HDTV Sony Playstation 2 Denon MD1000 Vidikron Epoch D-600 Vutec 100" 4:3 1.5 gain
  21. Definitely go with the 30s. Direct radiating speakers are the best way to go if you have adequate room to set them up. I currently use a Denon AVR5800 and have no problems. ------------------ KLF-30 mains KLF-C7 center KLF-30 side surrounds KG 3.5 rear surrounds KSW200 subwoofer Denon AVR5800 Pioneer Elite DV-09 Pioneer Elite PD-F19 RCA DTC100 DSS/HDTV Sony Playstation 2 Denon MD1000 Vidikron Epoch D-600 Vutec 100" 4:3 1.5 gain
  22. I compared the KLF30 and the RF7. I find the RF7 to have less detail then the KLF30. I think there is really something to be for separate tweeter and midrange drivers. Also, I don't believe in the "speaker break in" thing, I think it is your ears getting use to the new speakers. But that's just my opinion, humble as it maybe ------------------ KLF-30 mains KLF-C7 center KLF-30 side surrounds KG 3.5 rear surrounds KSW200 subwoofer Denon AVR5800 Pioneer Elite DV-09 Pioneer Elite PD-F19 RCA DTC100 DSS/HDTV Sony Playstation 2 Denon MD1000 Vidikron Epoch D-600 Vutec 100" 4:3 1.5 gain

  25. Can someone explain the "ambience sound" created by these WDST speakers. I tried a pair of KSP-S6s versus a pair of KLF30s. I went with the 30s even though my receiver could have handled both. U571 sounds awesome, as does Saving Private Ryan, the Matrix and Super Speedway. Absolutely no loss of sound at all.
