Surprised the old Electro-Voice Interface D doesn't pop up on the lists. Fantastic sounding speakers. Would love to come across a restored pair some day.

Don't leave us hanging... and by the way I appreciate the fact that "normal" affordable components were used. Very easy to pontificate about exotic tubes this and that, but most of us never had them and still don't.

They would have had to be rebuilt top to bottom. By the time you were done they would have been essentially replicas. It reels the mind that they could be let go so badly.

With a room that size I'd lean towards the stand mounts. Down the road when you move they will most likely be fine there as well. Seems a lot of apartments have smaller living rooms than they used to. At some point they could be moved to the back as rears in a surround set up.

I have a feeling the Threes are destined to become a classic. I hope to hear a pair later this year while down south.

It should sound very good. It is large, capable, very clear and neutral (uncoloured), and punches well above its price point. In fact I use one with my Ohm Accoustics 2000 Talls and somehow it blends flawlessly.

A very impressive video and that motor boat has some serious power. As for the forty foot jumps....nope. Alabama looks very nice, going to have to make my way there at some point.

Both the Denon and Marantz are good choices. I have been a Marantz fan for many years so would be inclined to lean towards it. You will have more than enough power for most rooms and still have the option of adding more through the preouts down the road should you find it needed.

I'm with you. I had a pretty extensive vinyl collection back in the 80s but became an early CD adherent back in 84 ( NAD player). I like the sound and don't miss the never ending work of turntables. Have yet to jump into the digital file world, the formats change to often for my liking and I don't want to buy another copy of the White Album to quote Tommy Lee Jones. I do however listen to some pretty good good sounding internet radio through my Apple TV from time to time.

You will be fine, my fronts are 6ohm Ohm Walsh, everything else is 8ohm Klipsch, works and sounds fine.

I'd like to watch this at some point.

My two cents: Marantz and Klipsch go together like chocolate and peanut butter.

Just read the review of the Rival in the June 2017 Stereophile. The fit and finish look great and would make a good inspiration for those building their own Crites Cornscala (which is what they look like to me). I have considered commissioning the same guy who built my AV unit for a Cornscala build. Not in the immediate or midterm budget though. Seems like PWK's concepts continue to echo through the years.

Old thread but an update... After a month and a half or so later we finally got our schedules to match. Living up north work travel is very common and we have been out of sync. The RB61 IIs were delivered a week ago. He is absolutely blown away and has given his former speakers that these replaced to another friend (domino effect). He is something of a musician and frequents one of the pubs with open mic nights as a participant. The live sound is not what he was used to or expecting. He has been texting me all week as he tweaks the positioning and can't believe the difference is sound and detail. Another member of the Klipsch tribe is born.
