  1. Sorry for the delay in responding, COVID and work travel. So I reworked the PCB joints for the autoformer and still nothing from the mid? Everything seems to check out, but I have two crossovers and neither is working right?
  2. A little bit of a long story. A coworker brought me a pair of Quartets that he had another coworker upgrade the stock quartet crossovers with parts from PartsExpress. He brought to me because after the upgrade the speakers sound terrible.. I do repairs and restorations here in Charleston, SC so he thought I might be able to straighten out. When I look at the crossovers everything seems good. I’ve done Klipsch crossovers before and he had a very well trained retired Navy Electronics tech who works with us do the work. She did the four caps and the 40 ohm resistor. Cap values are good and I’ve looked at it compared to pics and the schematic and it seems perfect. Problem with the sound is that the squawkers are out. No sound. When I check the resistance across the squawked leads from the crossover I get about .5 ohm without the squawked attached. Does that make sense? THanks for the help.
  3. Here are a couple of quick pics of the Fortes. I'm currently powering them with a Kenwood KR-5400. Notice the "Meet the Beatles" album leaning on them. To continue my string of good luck, I picked up 30 Beatles albums (most in great condition) and about a 100 45s this weekend for $40!
  4. The rod was a g-loomis greenwater series I got when I left federal government service a few years ago. I have a ton of gear and had just never purchased the right reel for this rod. Needed something nice and light like a shimano stradic CI4. Regarding the crossover repair kit my Navy electronics background led me to conclude that 30 year old caps are not going to be "in spec". Everything needs a little tweak now and then to maintain the designed and desired performance. They sound great but new caps will most likely improve performance. I've really enjoyed setting up three systems in my house; mine, my sons, and my daughters. Used a neighborhood social media app called nextdoor to shake a couple of vintage receivers (kenwood and Sherwood) and a nice Sony biotracer out of neighbors for just a few bucks! Worth a try if your neighborhood has it.
  5. Hi, Wanted to introduce myself to the forum. I've just gotten back into 2-Channel Home Audio and have been trying to put together several systems via bartering and a little cash. Got my son a nice pioneer, B&O, and DCM system by trading a fishing trip and last night picked up a set of Fortes for a fishing rod (very nice and new) and a stick-pin anchor!! Great trade as we were both excited about the trade and the products. The Fortes are all original and in great shape. Very excited after a few hours of listening. Already ordered my crossover repair kits and look forward to discussing my new hobby!!
