  1. Before changing the crossovers, have you placed them on the ground like they were intended? Having them on those blocks will destroy your bass response and change the balance of the speaker. The tweeter may be a bit hot because of the fact that they are a lower than ear height when positioned as intended. Perhaps lifting that tweeter up higher is causing the highs to be too much. 2. Definitely play with placement. I moved mine around a bit and now have them in my partially treated office. They have very full and tight bass in there, and sound top to bottom coherent. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. I haven't heard the 7III yet but @MetropolisLakeOutfitters has.
  4. The RF-7II don't stand much of a chance against the Forte III.
  5. I've owned the RF-7II and currently have the Forte III. Forte III all day, every day, and twice on Sunday. Midrange is so much better, more detail, and overall much more balanced sound. No harshness whatsoever and you can listen to them all day long.
  6. @RJB2 Like @dtel's wifehas mentioned, this would be great to donate to the museum. These are potentially the earliest set of La Scalas still existing and would be an amazing addition to the museum to keep around for other generations to see.
  7. The Forte iii doesn't just have titanium diaphragm updates. It has a new woofer, completely different mid horn and driver, new crossover design, updated internal cabinet volume, passive placement, new tweeter horn, etc. Just putting a titanium diaphragm and updated caps into the previous ones won't bring them to the level of updates the new one has. I am by no means saying the I and II aren't good. They are fantastic. It's just that Roy has absolutely knocked it out of the park with these new ones and to think that changing a diaphragm is all he did would be doing him and the new ones a serious injustice. 8. The 64 is better. You'll hear deeper voices and more full sound. ...you'll then want to upgrade everything
  9. I have the Chorus II and Forte III. I can say the Forte III sound much more realistic and voices are just right with them. The Chorus sound bigger, obviously, but I'd choose the Forte III all day long.
  10. Getting towards the end of the week bump.
  11. I'm pretty sure the studio 290 is the replacement. I think JBL is really slimming down their consumer offerings besides synthesis.
  12. I've heard they are discontinuing the 590s just like they did to the 530s.
  13. Tuesday special, buy this center, get to use it!
  14. You will miss the Quartets. Now you'll have to find Forte II or Chorus II. That mid horn is awesome on those. ...or get yourself the new forte iii. :-) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. Actually I used the RC-64II which blended surprisingly well. I really enjoyed the combo. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. I had them in a 3.1 for my TV/Movies and music as well.
  17. SOLD JBL Studio 590 pair in perfect condition. No dings/dents/scratches. All original packaging and manuals. Located in Terryville, CT. Local pickup only. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. The 590s are definitely good speakers. I prefer them to the Reference series I had (RP280 and RF-7II). However, I prefer the heritage/extended-heritage speakers more than the JBL. I'll actually will be putting my 590s up for sale shortly although they are absolutely fantastic for movies. I have put them up for sale.
  19. RC-64 II in black. SOLD Great condition. Located in Terryville, CT. Local pickup only. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  21. You would definitely miss the fortes if you replaced them with the rp280
  22. Please explain to me what is common sense about them not sounding alike. Because they are different series? How could you possibly say they won't be close without hearing it? You have exactly 0 to base your opinion on. I own them, I have them, I listen to them daily.
  23. I've owned both. 590s are better. Heritage series Klipsch are better than both. ..but now there's the RF-7III...
  24. Actually, you do have to try it to make an informed decision. As I actually own these speakers, I'd say I'm in a better position than you. Hearing loss? Sure, minus the fact that I've had my hearing checked multiple times recently and everything is perfect, including up to 20 kHz, but nice try there. There's no reason whatsoever to try to dismiss what I'm saying or insult me because of your lack of knowledge on the subject.
