  1. that's cool. while I've seen a few in person & have read about them I guess all my life - I am. what's not to impress from 389 ci with 3 deuces on top of it just itching for a fight, lol?
  2. beautiful car, those Z-28s. I don't guess there has ever been a Z-28 I don't like. so much so I'm not sure I can pick a fave year, or even a fave style. I do really like the new tech they put in 'em nowadays tho. while since superseded, my fave might be the return of the ZL-1 in 2012 - C & D reviewed here and no, I've never ridden in anything on the street that's really fast or powerful. (I did ride in one of those NASCAR ride-alongs @ Talladega where they said we hit about 175. now THAT WAS a blast!)
  3. I thought I'd recognize the chief engineer if I could recall his name. but once I saw the pics of the 64 Goat, well, I was done. thanks for that reminder there @Davis
  4. wow. I mean - look at the 63 Tempest, and a close relative, the GTO. (for me: ugh. ick.) but look what the GM & PMD folks were working on when those were rolling out. by that, I mean flashback & compare the look of the 63s to the 64s - wowza! (just sayin')
  5. for $75, yeah I would have thought they would have been long gone. I've paid more for less, even considering that they don't seem to be in too good shape. but they will fix. I would think the cabs alone if solid would be worth half that at least
  6. CL post now deleted. gone I suppose? at that price, not surprised except that they stayed up for ANY length of time at all. I rarely see ANY Heritage models up for sale in my neck of the woods, much less a really good deal like this one.
  7. as I revisit this & reread 1st psot, does not seem like OP is seller. maybe should go to Alerts instead of the Garage? that is - unless seller IS a member here?

    What I Got Today!

@codewritinfool - congrats on your beautiful granddaughter! ditto what babadono @ dirtmudd said - may God continue to bless all her family. it DOES go by too quickly, and is way too short for conflict. that's great CodeWriter!
  9. wow - that's a level of customer service that seems pretty rare these days. that might be worth considering.
  10. Schu mentioned Wolfchase mall. I didn't think to mention in previous post but I was in Memphis for a day visit for work recently; specifically in the Wolfchase area. nice looking area, lots of shopping etc. not run down at all - bunch o big box stores, chain restaurants & the like. nice area but cannot speak to any surrounding residential areas as I didn't take time to assess. highways are wide & busy, even in midday but did move well even in pm rush hour.
  11. sure. and then there is this from the ad: "All used goods come with a 90 day Adorama warranty. To ensure your satisfaction, any used equipment can be returned within 30 days of purchase, no questions asked!" so, at worst, you might pay shipping both ways to look at them & try them out, looks like for even up to 90 days. if you're on the fence, looks very hard to beat that.
  12. my fiance & I had Memphis on our list of possible relocation destinations if we had to move for me to find a job I wanted. we did some research but wound up staying here in Jackson MS (3.5 hrs south) cuz a job came up here without having to move. but in our research it seemed like an area similar to Jackson & Birmingham where we both have lived before or do currently - has pros & cons. housing market was slightly more expensive than Jackson. as I recall: for a home +/- 1800 sf not updated since 1980, avg price I recall was about 190k. new homes +/- 1300 sf FS around 200k. traffic = busy. but seems like an area we could adjust to & like. bigger area than Jackson which is fine with us - more amenities & conveniences. good luck in your oppportunity. edit: one of the online home search tools (Zillow, Trulia, Realtor, etc) has demographic stuff as a layer in its search - things like grocery, crime, school etc. don't remember which one but that info was very useful. for what we could tell (based on Birmingham market where we lived for years), it seemed reasonably accurate.
  13. supposed to be. you would think they'd proof their work at least once before submitting, eh?
  14. so @dtel, I'm curious - what medium do you play from? "offline" collection flac, etc, streaming since you don't do vinyl or RTR any more?
  15. glad to hear immediate impact has apparently gone well all things considered.
  16. I'd say fewer incidents of problems - inherent attempts at feline retaliation for being hunted. but severity/complexity of those lower quantity of problems could rise due to heightened ire of the hunted. and then there's the whole "prey are just harder to find when in season" mentality. I'm not a hunter but don't object to it. I just prefer increased shuteye in the bed rather than falling asleep in a tree stand. but for example in deer season, don't the deer immediately become more scarce, only to suddenly reappear the day after the season closes to mock you?
  17. looking at your room Derrick @derrickdj1, it seems almost obvious that subwoofer bass is not affected by furniture, judging by placement of the one sub disguised as a sofa table. that opens more possibilities. as well as the SVS PC model subs Mike suggested. and then there's the whole Pandora's box of DIY subs, which would probably save cash in exchange for sweat - which is fine with me. I'm all over that. will have to look at SVS examples to get rough size, for placement in my room, and then probably move over to the sub forum & begin digging in over there. at this point, judging by typical SVS SB model size, the 12"-15" cubed range looks acceptable. now to begin the quest for WAF and budget approval.
  18. I am too easy a read if you know I'm making fun. perhaps I need to work on my skillz...
  19. is it true what is said that it's not so much the fall that is an issue but when you stop falling is when the real problems occur? how many times were your falls stopped? or how many falls? multiple stops within a single fall, like hitting branches on the way down? do you still climb trees, perhaps to test your "falling skills" for comparison to the days of yore?
  20. thanks all - Bill @willland, Mike @USNRET, Bill @Ceptorman, @Zen Traveler, Derrick @derrickdj1, and even @babadono for your attempt to contribute [ keep trying 😛] room is not very large at all - open floor plan, kit, LR & "informal DR" all in one, about 900 sf altogether. the fiance has mentioned a few times a desire for a center, so this may be the next addition, especially it seems consent may be an easy win on this. Mike yes, that hella impact is what I'd like to experience. I might be able to hide a cylinder somewhere. will have to keep this in mind, engage a little imagination & see what I can come up with. and I acknowledge it's not a true HT by any means - improved lower end responsiveness - to the point of feeling some bass slam - is what I'm chasing. we all have our things, right? I guess this clearly is one of mine. Derrick - what I'm searching for in low end is beginning to literally feel the lower frequency impact - primarily in movies etc - explosions, earthquakes, dinosaur roars, spaceship effects, etc. our favorites are, in case not obvious - both Star Trek & Star Wars, Jurassic series, Aliens & so on. not feeling it really at all now, and I want to expand the full range of special effects. I do not feel knowledgeable re frequencies, but I follow numerous discussions about them. so I agree in concept that I think I am looking to improve the 65 - 130 Hz range, feeling the vibes in the seating, feeling the chest thump, some pressure in the ears (none now) and so on. sounds to me that these are the things of which you speak in the 65 - 130 range. and therefore to achieve what I'm chasing, a center & one or more subs are the next order of biz. either make a place for them, find a place, or accept status quo as it is until these can be done. would that be an accurate takeaway from all this? and again - thanks ALL for your input & helping me learn more about this "hobby" - fascination (obsession?) -John edit: will have to get a pic of our room layout when the room is 'presentable' for photo ops. you know how that goes guys - even the photos have to have WAF. with 3x canine babies, they can wreck a room in no time at all. thanks again for all your help. much appreciated.
  21. haven't gotten around to trying that out yet, but I will. I bet you're right, given the discussions I've read about AVR power vs dedicated amp channel power. need to block out some time & do that. thanks Bill.
  22. so, I've been a little busy, and am now coming back to this. (also - changed thread title, but maybe beside the point). I did close the deal & rec'd my Acurus 200x3 amp & have added it to my system. BUT in HT, I don't sense a lot of difference. could be placebo effect that makes me think it has helped to some extent but it does not seem to be really noticeable. btw - I've connected my L & R thru the Acurus leaving the 3rd ch unused atm, and run my CW from it. I have not tested any 2 ch on it yet. we just don't use it a lot for 2 ch I am kinda sorry to say. (part of that may be cuz I like it kinda loud, and makes conversation difficult. I don't mind it much but the fiance would rather we talk. I'm sure you know what I mean. anyway - for 2 ch, I've read someone say that I should dbl check AVR stereo mode for 2 ch sources to make sure it plays only 2 ch. that may not be the case right now, as I thought it would be fun to run all ch stereo. I'm not getting great performance from my mains like this, so I think I need to change that. anyway - my point: any advice now that I've added the amp but do not seem to be getting the low end emphasis or improvement that I thought I would get. where to look? and one of these days I may get around to the how-much-power-voltage-is-really-needed test to see how much voltage I'm actually getting at the mains. but in the interim, any other ideas? thanks.
  23. Clonezilla. free, open source. have used it - not a lot, but on & off - for years now. LOVE IT ! https://clonezilla.org/
  24. that part sounds like you're doing you job pretty well too - hiding the cattle prod from her. and, for the record - I did get your joke dtel. but my "witty comeback" that was supposed to be funny - "wait, what? I don't get it, for the super obvious joke" - fell flat. the sarcasm missed the mark badly. so anyway that's just more of the usual that I cannot tell a joke.
