  1. Not for tubes really, but can be enjoyed for easy jazzy listening: The Best of Fourplay. Don't miss The Best of David Benoit also! Great musical detail. A masterpiece. If you prefer for a more modern/contemporary jazz, try Rippingtons album, especially: Black Diamond or Rippingtons Live in USA.
  2. I'm using an old pairs of JBL Music 2 system. The sattelite speakers still sound great (considering price performance factor) but somehow its subwoofer unit (Bass2) is weak. Anyone here have experiences with this unit? If you kind enough to help me, please reply this postage or e-mail me at haryanto@aig-lippo.com

  5. A-Open seems to have a decent breakthrough with their new motherboard series. The board equiped with onboard Vacuum Tube technology to give us, PC user, very high quality audio output. Any comments about this? Will this technology bring us to a new era of computer audio environtment? Or just a bluff or waste of money?
  6. I owned PowerDVD4 XP and DTS decoding work flawlessly. Try to check your system information for IRQ sharing. Maybe your sound card do the weird freeze stuff. Or maybe you can switch your soundcard to another PCI port. Anyway, reinstalling a new windows also seems good. (As I said above, you don't have to reformat your HD for reinstalling windows) Oh...don't forget to un-check the DMA option in PowerDVD. Good Luck!
  7. For those Jazz lovers, try Rippingtons albums Black Diamond. The first track which is Black Diamond Song is difficult enough to hear without a good bass equipment. This track is not so jazzy anyway. Much more like a new age track. I myself don't like very much a BOOM sound followed by a windblow or a hiss come from your sub. Try FourPlay album, The Best of Fourplay, to experience solid and high technique bass experience by Nathan East. And off course, the old Kenny G Live! album can also be a good choice for showing off your sets. Followed by the legendary lypsnyc album Milli Vanilli, which contains solid mid-bass is useful enough, again for showing off your speakers.
  8. Another victims of Cambridge I see. So the most special about 4.2 system is off course its power. Ok..ok...I knew already that power is not everything. But surely much power will make some differences. Second, you'll get much better sound positioning. Two subs (front and behind) is good for the sound positioning.
  9. Have you tried with creativelabs.com? I once d/l it but it was a long time ago in the galaxy far far away :-) Try to find someone who has a newer SB Live! driver CD. Good luck!
  10. But I still recommend a SB Audigy Card...just for 99 bucks with a good sound output too and no problem for any 4.1, good game AdvanceEAX compability, Firewire port, and ready for you too upgrade into 5.1! Plus tons of software such as SoundFont, Wave Editor, PlayCenter, Surround Mixer, etc.
  11. "Where do I put the win98 files I took off the disk? (Before I install)" So...here's the idea once again... The deltree.exe usage is off course ONLY for deleting your program files (progra~1) directory and windows directory. So your other files/directory are not deleted. They're safe and sound as long as you don't deltree them. Off course you're gonna need to re-install all of your applications such as MS Office, Coreldraw, etc again. You can copy your win98 master or installation file into your harddrive anywhere, for example---> c:\install\win98 so you can install a fresh windows from MS DOS mode: c:\install\win98\setup.exe Hope this will help those who wants to re-install new OS without formatting their harddrive. Good luck!

  13. It is depends on what the purpose of a graphics card. If you're doing some sort of 3D Graphic/Rendering job then 3DLabs Oxygen/Wildcart will be fit. But for games GF3 or ATI is more suitable. I myself believe that ATI will give you better video display quality based on their reputation and my experience. It will need more time for us to have the real winner between GF3 and Radeon.
  14. To tell the truth, I never tried... or in another words... I won't try WINME. WINME is the most unstable OS I ever saw. The fact that it is a failure product is unavoidable. Still to me WIN98 SE is the best for easiness and comfort. Win2000 can give you better stability though. I can burn-in the fly AudioCD while listening to my MP3's with Win2000 :-) Yes Justin, if you used FAT32 then you can adapt my tips. The file deltree.exe is in windows\command directory. Remember to copy the win98 master installation first into your harddrive. Good luck!
  15. Has Anyone ever heard Creative Inspire Digital 5700?
  16. Agree. The original JP is much better. And the sound is incredible too.
  17. Here's a tip if you don't want to reformat your harddrive: 1.First copy your master windows files to your harddrive (examples--> d:\win98). 2.Make a boot disk with smartdrive files (optional) on it. Find smartdrv.exe file from DOS. (What's smartdrive for? Well...in the next chapter you'll find). 3.Shut down into MS DOS Mode 4.Run your smartdrive from the bootdisk (the file is smartdrv.exe OK?) 5.Deltree your Program Files directory (examples--> deltree c:\progra~1) The smartdrive that you'd run before will make this task more faster! But if you couldn't find smartdrive, it's okay. But you'll gonna wait for longer time. 6.Deltree your windows directory (examples--> deltree c:\windows) 7.After that...install windows from your harddrive (examples---> d:\win98\setup) 8.Tadaa....a brand new fresh windows without wiping out your harddisk!
