  1. Where is her getting her music from? Because I use Google chromecast audio. It' s $35 and it use WiFi, sound quality is great, and it's pretty simple to use and connect. Only problem it that I know it doesn't work with apple iTunes and just a few others. But it does cast from YouTube and of course Google music and many others as well. Tell me what she uses and I can check for you. Sent from my LG-D950 using Tapatalk Sorry just read that you have chromecast, don't think chromecast audio will be much different but if nothing else works, can't hurt to check out. 6. You are very welcome, even though I did not do much. Glad you are liking your Yamaha A-S801. Yamaha is doing some great things with stereo audio these days. It is a beast. When it first arrived, I had a heck of a time getting it out of the box due to it's heft. Bill I agree I use to sell Yamaha for more than a decade and I always thought I was a great gear but this is next level for Yamaha, I mean cost no object, you expect a certain level performance, but this is an affordable gear that can deliver, in my opinion, 70 to 80% of esoteric gear performance. That's phenomenal! Sent from my LG-D950 using Tapatalk
  7. Thanks so much for everyone's help I'm in Flac heaven right now! Sent from my LG-D950 using Tapatalk
  8. Thanks willland! Your info guided me back to the Yamaha website, long story short, I use Foobar2000 and I needed to go into it control panel and select Yamaha's DAC. I'm in Flac heaven! Thanks so much for your help. Sent from my LG-D950 using Tapatalk
  9. Thank will land, AS 1000, what a beast of an amp! That's the only thing I miss, those wood panels, old school. Love it! The onboard DAC in the AS 801 is capable of decoding up to 32/382khz but for some reason (or some step that I missed) it only playing CD quality. Sent from my LG-D950 using Tapatalk
  10. Congrats! Very nice looking amp for 2 channel. It should support anything you throw at it. Are you saying you play a wav or flac files and it samples it to 44.1 khz? If you play a CD it will be 44.1 that is CD quality. Maybe download a file that you know for sure is a higher sample rate. I have a Denon AVR 1333r for HT and it has HDMI and lan features where I just click on a file on my computer and it starts up the amp and displays the song and bit rate on the TV and on the amps screen. It will show the sample rate for anything I send. For high bit rates it shows PCM with the sample rate. Your specs are here, it looks like it should play anything. Again congrats on the nice buy!!! 100 W x 2-ch (20 Hz - 20 kHz) USB DAC function supports native DSD resolutions (2.8 MHz / 5.6 MHz) and PCM (384 kHz / 32-bit) Digital signal indicator shows DSD and PCM playback formats and sampling frequencies High efficiency ESS Technology 32-bit DAC (ES9010K2M) Digital audio inputs for TV or Blu-ray Disc™ player CD Direct Amplification and Pure Direct High strength chassis with double-bottom design for excellent dampening of vibrations ToP-ART (Total Purity Audio Reproduction Technology) and high quality parts I/O (input to output) direct symmetrical design ART (Anti-Resonance and Tough) Base Custom made power transformer / 12,000 µF block capacitors / extruded aluminum heat sinks Gold plated speaker terminals and RCA terminals Continuously Variable Loudness Control Yes thanks BobK, I forgot to mention they are mostly flac files that I have, I may have a few wav as well. I love the amp! Fantastic sound even a CD quality. Thanks again. Sent from my LG-D950 using Tapatalk
  11. Try control panel>hardware and sound>manage audio devices>whatever your device is>properties>advanced. Should be able to select the sample rate and bit depth output. Thank you robbiey60, I will give it a try. Sent from my LG-D950 using Tapatalk
  12. Friday I received my new integrated amp the Yamaha AS801 in silver ( I love the silver it reminds me more of the old school Yamaha) and the sound is fantastic paired up with my also new Klipsch RP160M bookshelf speakers. The only thing I haven't figured out is how to get higher than 44.1khz from my amp when using USB. I have many 96khz and some 192khz but when I play them they will only playback at 44.1khz. I downloaded the drivers for the USB connection for the AS801, I went into the control panel, sound settings on my windows 8 computer, but I couldn't find anyway to select a higher resolution. I'm sure I've missed a step somewhere. If anyone has an idea what I may have missed please help.
  13. Welcome to the forum, yeah I agree, I don't think you can go wrong with that setup. Enjoy! Sent from my LG-D950 using Tapatalk
  14. What stands are you using and what height are they?Sent from my LG-D950 using Tapatalk My name is Chris and yours is Joe?, I'm building some stand for them. They will have a top and base that will be a little wider than the speakers base and close to 3 inches deeper than the base. I guess the stand height is around 30" tall to get the tweeter to ear level. I have some measuring to do.Sent from my LG-D950 using Tapatalk Thanks Joe. I agree, it's all about the music. 15. Thanks ChuckAb3, yes 2 channel only. I looked at both Parasound and Marantz. Both excellent performers. I want the simplicity of one box and the Parasound integrated amp was waaaaay out of price range and Marantz has many great integrated amps but I read a review about Yamaha's A-S 801 amp and the highly rated ESS Sabre DAC. It seems like a perfect fit for me. It's at the very top of my budget but I'm sure it will be worth it. Sent from my LG-D950 using Tapatalk
  16. Hey thanks ricktate, I agree with you. I've made up my mind, I'm going with the Yamaha A-S 801. My budget was about half of that before but I decided to wait on a turntable for now and that opened me up to getting a much better amp. Sent from my LG-D950 using Tapatalk

  18. Congrats.....Soooooo what amp are ya thinking about??? MKP :-) I think I've decided to go with the Yamaha A-S 801. Thanks to willand suggestion to look at a couple of Yamaha models. It has everything I wanted, highly rated DAC, decodes every hi rez format, and I love retro like style. I think I'll even get it in silver for more of that 70's flavor. OK then, Mr. Sound Mind, in your honor: Sent from my LG-D950 using Tapatalk
