  1. Massive speakers at 6' and 180+ pounds. I'm glad I had Altec A7s in the house when my then-future wife moved in... she'd gladly live with just about anything -aesthetically- after that. After any number of speakers I've had in our time together, the Dunlavys are the first that actually made a good impression on her sonically.
  2. After years with horns, I've turned to the dark side.... I recently picked up a pair of Dunlavy SC-IVs that have changed my whole perspective on speakers for the time being.
  3. They do indeed! There are a lot of 'what ifs?' with these... if I had room to store them, if I had the ability to keep them all, etc. Alas, when the new comes in, the old must go.
  4. Little heavy on the sales technique... but I just copied from one original listing when I put 'em out there.... $1200 One set of US-made, consecutive serial numbered Klipsch Chorus II speakers in gorgeous oak veneer. The consecutive serial number have no bearing on how they sound, but makes for perfectly matched veneers that can be proudly displayed in any room. Recently given a little TLC with a couple fresh coats of Watco Danish Oil to insure the perfect luster for their next owner. The Chorus II represents the absolute top of the line for Klipsch speakers, great engineering and design and steps ahead -still!- of the original Heritage line. In fact this model was discontinued for the very fact that it was out-selling the original Heritage line models like the Cornwalls, La Scalas, Belles, etc. and hurting their bottom line, not due to a lack of positive reviews or buyer demand. The Tratrix mid horn exudes a natural, more refined and relaxed presentation than any of the previous exponential horns. The 15" woofer matched with the 15" passive in the non ported cabinet allows for deeper and tighter bass than it's forbearers -the Chorus I- or Cornwalls, etc. A number of key upgrades have been made to this pair to bring it on par with the best of speakers on the market today. Titanium diaphragms were swapped in for the original -Crites in the tweeters and Klipsch replacements for the mids- allowing for extraordinarily a clear, crisp and highly detailed soundstage with extended highs and full rich midrange. Additionally, internal wiring replaced with pure silver to the tweeters, silver coated copper to the mids and super heavy gauge Monster copper to the woofers. The entire crossover was rebuilt with high quality parts: a beefier Crites autotransformer, 12 and 14 gauge Solen air coil inductors, Dueland resistors and 1% tolerance capacitors. Vastly superior to the original crossover quality, allowing for a full, open presentation and takes full advantage of the diaphragm upgrades. Fantastic speakers that I hate to part with, but have moved along in my constant search to compile the 'perfect' stereo.
  5. Stating a price will be highly beneficial, but not as beneficial as pictures, or even mentioning the veneer/color.
  6. Why did you post the part about the amp? Is it a part of the sale price? I was just curious. With the upgrades and extra grill, that is a super nice price for the buyer, and he will be getting a plug and play ready speaker. I'll edit that out..... they were up as trade bait for a while, I was looking for a tube amp with a little more meat. The Cornwalls were lovely with my Dynaco ST-35, but I wanted to double up with a beefier PP amp to push the new Chorus IIs. I found just what I was looking for in a Quicksilver GLA. I'd had a pair of QS Silver 90s for a while that I ran with other speakers, but I think over a certain wattage, tube amps lose their charm.
  7. One of my longest and closest friends is huge fan of music with a eclectic but extremely wide palette of tastes. His stereo is nothing to write home about, I can't even remember any of it offhand and that's not the point; he is quite happy. On the other hand, he spends boatloads of money every month on new music, something a lot of people don't do... especially on gear forums, including myself. I said a while back on another forum that, truth be told, the music that plays from my current stereo may sound infinitely better than it did on the stereos of my youth.... but the level of enjoyment is the same on a basic level.
  8. One of these days a pair of 14s or 19s will come my way....
  9. I wish I knew for sure if these'd work in my amp, that's a great price.
  10. They are in very good condition, combed over you can find a couple small pock marks, but no major scratches/dents/marrs.
  11. Added pics... I actually thought I had a bunch up. Serial posted in main body.
  12. Total scam. I'm an hour south of Pittsburgh and wrote him immediately after it was posted the last time. Time to flag it again! The response Hey Thanks for replying me . i am sorry to say i already sold it . but i suggested you that where i get it . I got it from bidsinfo(dot)net . you can get bellow 70 doller of your chossable product. it's very easy process . i wish you must be get it . Put (dot) = . All the best
  13. They should do great for your Cornwalls. I was running them in my '75s and thought they sounded much better than stock, with the ability to attenuate tweeter and squawker output.
  14. One pair of ALK CSW networks. Purchased for use with the Cornwalls I no longer will be using. Save yourself some cash and a wait and grab them up here. $275 shipped to the continental US of A.
  15. SOLD, cash on pickup One pair of Klipsch Cornwall speakers (5N723 and 5N724) in oiled walnut. Located in Uniontown PA, 15401, about an hour south of Pittsburgh, 3 hours from Columbus OH or Washington DC. I'm seeing this as a local kinda deal, shipping is not an option but we can listen to both speakers and amp at Casa RuralTom. All original, and have been recapped. Drivers have the 'sweeter', mellower AlNiCo magnets, rather than the shrill ceramics of the late 70s on. Bass is low and full with the big 15" woofer. These originally came with the rare white cloth grills, but OEM black grills were purchased later by the original owner (I am the second owner). Both sets are missing one of the emblems, the metal plate on the white grills, the PWK plastic badge on the black. The cabinets themselves are in exceptionally good condition, except for one small water mark on one speaker that has slowly faded with repeated applications of Howard's. Great sounding speakers that really sound nice and can be driven with low power tubes, but I've used everything from 3wpc tubes amps to 250wpc solid state amps to great effect.
  16. It's amazing how many people ask me how long I've been in this country when I tell them I'm from NEW Mexico. Que? FUnny thing... when I moved to New Mexico from West Virginia, a lot of folks weren't aware that it wasn't part of Virginia.
  17. Hey Tom, A Chef would fit right in! We have a couple of Cajuns for Crawfish Etouffee and Deer Spagetti the last time I was down. Last year we had smoked ribs and ribeyes and more than a few guys that smoke. I don't know what will be there this year, but can be sure that it will make your tongue slap your brains out! Roger I found the post for that event, turns out it is the weekend of my honeymoon. As much as I think it'd be perfect, and as much as my future wife is supportive and loves music, it ain't gonna happen.... there's always 2017! Cheers
  18. I can't speak to KLFs, but I have had a number of more 'modern' Klipsch Products... KG 5.2s, Fortes and now Chorus IIs. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend anything from the 'post-classic' era, as my buddy puts it. The Chorus-Forte-Quartet line was very good indeed, enough so that -if I understand things correctly- they eventually were discontinued as they were out performing and out selling the Heritage lineup at a lower price (and smaller size!). As much as I love(d) my old Cornwalls, the Chorus IIs top them in many ways. Subjectively, of course.
  19. How about killing two birds with one stone? Have your honeymoon in Hope! Congrats on the wedding! Many thanks!
  20. Wow, your first post ever? Welcome to the forum, Rural Tom! Yes Tom, Welcome to the Forum! Where in BFE are you located? Roger Tom, In all of your lurking, are you familiar with the big gathering at the PWK Factory in Hope, Arkansas in May with the us feeding the factory workers, then getting a tour of the plant, a tour of the lab, meeting Roy Delgado and Jim Hunter, getting a tour of the Klipsch Museum, having a private listening session with 60th anniversary K-Horns vs; Klipsch Paladium PF-39s vs; Klipsch RF-7II's and partying on Rodney Newton 610 acres listening to some BIG Klipsch speakers?? You could see the factory where your speakers were made. Do you have any interest in coming?? Roger I hadn't actually come across that, Roger. That sounds absolutely amazing and I'd happily contribute, as a 20yr. professional chef I likely could bring something to the table! That being said, it would likely be a timing issue, I'm actually getting married on the 18th of that month then off for a week honeymooning... sure would love the opportunity though, both to meet fellow Klipsch enthusiasts and hear some amazing speakers. I hate to admit it, but I've yet to hear a pair of Khorns. Came close to buying a pair last year, but ended up passing; I don't think my space can handle them. -Tom
  21. I know right where you are, Tom. I did an internship at Fayette County Mental Health when I was at WVU. From my house to yours it would be about 2.5 hours. Somewhere out near you is somebody who has a massive collection of vintage speakers, Klipsch, Frazier and others, I think located out on Rt. 43. I don't think he sells, he just buys. It's been a while and I can't recall his name, but I got the impression he was somewhat well known to speaker collectors in the Uniontown area. -Dave I may be mistaken, but I believe that Fayette County in its entirety is something of a mental health facility..... I wonder who that might be? It might very well explain why I never see things up for sale around here, unless only briefly.... sounds like he'd be a good fellow to know, I bet I'd love to hear any number of things in his collection. Maybe our paths will cross! Tom
  22. I've always wanted to hear a pair of 19s. I've had a line on 14s once or twice, but they always fell through. Dunno if either would replace Klipsch for me, but I love to hear new takes on horns... harder to do than I thought!
