  1. Oh yea since it will be a year before I'm back LOL... He also sent me a some botched up xover caps too LOL.. some off brand electrolytic to run in parallel over the soniccap to make up the diff in value... Needless to say all the originals caps were in spec and back in my speakers now ... I bought the cap kit for the forte 3 xover.. :(.. Well happy new year !!!
  2. never mind sorry I asked again for the info on BOBS speakers :(.... Ill try again a year later
  3. I just thought If I could find the real data on them maybe I could make some boxes for a garage system or sometin instead of shit canning them..
  4. Just still working on the one size fits all.. When I still have a pair in boxes I bought a year ago that cant handle the power in my forte 2.... Then called Klipsch told me to use caution with the Crites Woofers.. Bought the original Klipsch k-28-e from them.. They sound really good !!! Not as good as the K-25-k original, but close Just Curious about the data on the $240 dollars worth of stored speakers I have. BTW the klipsch OEM speakers were cheaper
  5. He cant or wont tell you.... Just says sonically the same as the k-25-k, and same as the k-23-k and same as the k-28-e.... ???
  6. In total respect to the forte 2 speakers . I have done extensive testing. I love my speakers had a driver failure the 12 inch. Went with bob crites drivers. Was very unhappy with the results . Called KLIPSCH and bought the replacement for the forte 2 for less than bobs . The K-28-e installed them in the forte 2 and they sound better than new, they handle the power, and sound solid again. I would expect no less from KLIPSCH!!! They had it spot on .
  7. well i tell u what i just wanted to share my journey a ND NOW THE KLIPSCH GROUP ON FACEBOOK HATES ME .. I'm done man i got my sound back and everyone just goes crazy sorry to bother you all
  8. love mine again and always have loved my speakers from klipsch since 1997
  9. I knew u guys love bob that why i was hesitant on even posting my results good luck all
  10. 3 pleats on one side 4 on the other glued wrong
  11. ill take pics of the defective surround on one of bobs woofers if u like
  12. all right let me make this clear for all members!!! had a failure on one of the woofers on the forte 2 woofers the surround cracked.. Looked around found this site. Bought bobs replacement woofers for the forte 2 did the cap upgrade too and the tweets.. 360 bucks . called bob told hi i didnt like the sound . wanted to return them. in so many words said no!! let them break in. well they didnt break in!! so i had an amp failure got another amp then its the amp.. then still sounds like shit. then called bob he told me it was speaker box issues gaskets and so on more breakin . on and on no return !!! so then i changed out the tweets to factory sounded better .. then seen they had the ne w forte 3 out gonna buy them !!! Klipsch told me on the phone after i talked about my problems to buy replacements!! factory certified!! they sound perfect and guess what they work no mid bass distortion they handle the watts like before u guys do what u will but all i got outta bob so far is a 60 dollar set of caps that i tested when i took them out and they were well within spec. besides the factory parts are cheaper than bobs and you cant go wrong at the factory they just sound and perform like they say!!! I'm happy
  13. Well i posted here before about my Forte 2 woofers.. I replaced them with Bob Crites woofers and tweets and his crossover kit. After I was done It never sounded the same :(. Called bob said it needed breakin time so did all u guys. Long story short after i removed bobs tweets back to factory they got better. Then the woofers still wouldnt handle the bass.. so I called "KLIPSCH" They sent me 2 new factory drivers!! for 208 bucks shipped!! The quality is unsurpassed .. All my sound is back!!! Just like the original Only buy factory Klipsch parts!!! I never like to bash people .. But i really feel i got ripped off to the tune of 370 dollars By Bob Crites and his Klipsch downgrades!!! Bob didnt even return my emails when asking about his speaker specs about the originals.. On the phone he blamed it on my boxes and gaskets. took lots of extra work and time but i found the problem.. thanks for all the help boys
  14. Does anyone have the specs on Bobs woofers the cw1230?? gonna compare!!! Data for K25K nomz 4 ohms Qms 1.9 Qes 0.245 Qts 0.217 Revc 3.4 ohms SPL 92.74 db F0 24.01 Hz. Bl 11.8 Vas 0.053 sq m Xmax 4mm
  15. Well I started to break down the original forte 2 woofer.. the problem with Bobs woofers is easy to see!!! The rolled rubber edge on the Original forte 2 woofer it tuff!! "Real Tuff"!!! Unlike the accordion edge on Bobs woofers. the weaker edge allows to much woofer excursion!! Its very clear to me now.. The surrounds that I ordered form simply speakers are foam and weaker than the accordion edge on Bobs speakers. No point in me going any further with the rebuild of the old woofers. Unless i can find real rubber true surrounds they are a lost cause. Original in good condition K25k drivers are the only option now.. I'm surprised they are not really sought after. I'm gonna watch ebay Maybe bob can have them design one with a true rolled rubber edge then they would handle the watts in the lower range.. The bass punch you wanna hear and feel at 100 watts
  16. Bulbs are easy I bet !! I dont know everything we just rely on info from places like this. I really like this forum !!! Lots of knowledge here.. I think Bob does know his shit when it comes to speakers.. I'm a guy that cant afford to spend 300 bucks on a cap upgrade done by somebody else. I have always figured If i can get the tools and the parts we can fix it just like any other man The Internet rules!! Lots of info!! Only problem I run into is with newer electronics . Most of this old solidstate and tube stuff is really basic. It only becomes a problem when the cost of the parts or tools is greater than the value of the Item The other day dads flat screen died lost the power supply for the backlighting fixed the power supply with spare parts i had from other junk. Then one of the boards that controls the hdmi inputs died told him to junk it!! Cost of that board 300 bucks!! Dont have and cant get info you can get a new tv 42inch for that.. I have been really excited about this vintage audio hobby and the stuff just rules over the new stuff!!! Easy to work on powerfull "ITS AWESOME"!!!
  17. Oh yea i was gonna say too when i did the tweets on the speakers they did have residue of a fluid around the coils ferro fluid maybe they just used that on the last Forte 2s mine are from 1996.
  18. Yes i have the service manual. No problem on adjusting the bias . We just rebuilt my buddies adcom amp. I figure we can just test for problems on the carver and recap it while in there And put some lights in the meters they have been rep[laced 3 times in 2 years before I had the amp .
  19. Good points !! I did recap the carver ct-17. Just the power supply side. It developed a humm a year ago or so .. So i bought the caps and did it. No more hum . The Tfm-45 always has seemed solid. I think I will go ahead and tear into that amp as your right I'm sure it could use a recap. It would be an inexpensive upgrade anyway.. I did talk too Bob about how much power to put to them. He seemed to think the meters on the front of the tfm-45 might not be that accurate, maybe I have always been over driving these speakers. When i drove the old ones the meters always topped about about 100 - 110 watts and man did they sing!!! My Buddy has some adcom preamps he don't use . I might try one of those on it see what happens. He bought a ct-17 like mine loved the sonic holography .Thanks for all the input guys!!! Got me thinking about lots of possible issues
