  1. I always thought the Dynaco Output transformers were considered very good. Lots of mods and upgrades around for them too. Easy to work on etc. ST70's are not really too expensive from what I see on Ebay. I have seen and heard a few Chinese Trannys that I thought were horrid. I know they can make it to a price point, but then its expensive too for a really good one. .
  2. I recently purchased a nice pair of Klipsch Forte II's. I decided to upgrade the crossovers with the Bob Crites upgraded ones along with the Titanium Tweeters. I found the midrange to be a bit too forward for my taste and room acoustics. So I looked at the autoformer info and switched to the 0-Y , 0-1 tap, for an additional 1 db reduction. It seems to have worked well and I am much pleased with the results. Should I have changed any other Caps or Resistor? It really does sound much better to my ears. Has anyone else done such a thing? Is it my imagination ? I am really liking these speakers now. Billy Z
  3. I used Klipsch Heresy's for PA applications for years , no Sub. I used 2 on each side on stands. I always got complements on the Sound quality. Granted these were not huge outdoor concerts, for those I used the heresy for side fill. The KP250 is a great Pa speaker, get a great sounding amplifier though, they will reveal a harsh amp in an instant. Never bi amped or tri amped. Except outdoors, then I ran the Klipsch subs on there own amps. Always used Crown amps outdoors, K1, and K2.
  4. I work on and build tube guitar amps for a living. I was soldering for years , even use a weller wes51 , cardas quad eutectic solder, etc. blah blah. Then I read the military paper on how to solder. Western electric connections and all. Humbling. I see so many bad soldering jobs in my work it is sad.
  5. What about the original Dynaco st70 ?
  6. Not all orange drops are the same construction. 715, 716, 6ps, 225, etc. they sound different. 6ps are warmer sounding than 715 , for example.
