  1. Mine are 74 raw fir with what looks like oak veneer put on by the original owner. How rare is the marine grade fir? Does it decrease value to stain it or re veneer it? When people like heritage klipsch, it seems it’s for the quality of build using birch wether it was veneered or stained instead of current mdf with veneer over it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. Location? I need a center belle! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. Makes sense. You still have the room for the top plate to hit the wall corners. So your vertical back plate was still sitting flush against the corners then? I see how that's not the issue now. Hmm. I don't know what else to tell you then. As long as they sound great now. Just wish we could have figured out the issue before just in case you come across it again.
  4. Here I just tried to take a photo for a reference of what I’m talking about. I slid the top hat forward so you can see how the back sits against each corner of the wall- i have pipe insulation up and down the back vertical plate and to the sides of the top hat Please excuse the unfinished paint lol Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. Your top plate sticking out like that is the issue imo. You need to saw that flat with that vertical back plate. You're essentially having your bass bins stick out from the walls due to that top plate hitting the wall before the rest. I hope im making sense.
  6. I just googled images of rear klipschorns. Are yours DIY? That that top plate sticking out like that shouldn't be that way. It's keeping the bass bin from being tight in the corner with the pipe insulation. Image reference:
  7. interesting. I thought that vertical flat back plate needed to be against the wall but the top plate sticks out keeping it from sitting flush in the corners. Haven't seen that. Mine aren't like that but mine are decorators so...
  8. Thanks but Deans got me covered! He’s building me some AAs! I got more excited when I read people’s realization how great it is to freshen up the crossovers. My first experience was listening to la scalas with deans networks compared to make stock AL. I couldn’t believe it. Though ALs are supposed to be the worst Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. I can't tell a difference between pipe insulation and without. Bass is great either way and that's with tired old AA's from 1974.
  10. Are there first reflection points to the sides of the horns for Klipschorns or were they designed not to have those reflections? I tried the mirror test and I never see the Klipschorn on the front or side wall. Is that absorption better used on the back wall or is it still necessary to have absorption on both front and side wall of the horns anyway? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. Beautiful. Wish you were closer for a center for my new KHorns. Unrelated but I was wonder if my badges were original. Seeing them on your belle means they are! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. Just spend big on the Forte crossovers, get Ti tweeters if you don’t already have them and spend on room treatment. If the wife disapproves, find other ways using furniture, book cases, thick drapes, thicker rug etc. I do think for now your cheapest way is to play with placement. Go longer on the wall and toe them In at your listening position possibly could help with that room Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. Since it seems you can’t pull them out from the back wall too much, Cornwall III,II, I or Chorus I, CF-3 or 4 or KLF-20 Or 30 would work well for you. I know reference is seen more for movies but the RF-7 III is outstanding and really improved on the II’s brightness with very smooth highs. I think you’d be very happy with that as well. I’d avoid passive radiator Klipsch speakers. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. Since you seem to have knowledge on years and badges would you happen to know if these badges and grill cloth are original on my 76 raw fir decorators? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. I could never get into the idea of the CWIII having the smaller heresy mid horn. Never heard a pair though so can’t judge. I’m happy with my Chorus II and my newly acquired Klipschorns A Chorus III with the same or larger mid horn with mumps and new compression drivers and tweeters and network would sure make me day dream though. How about just a pro version with the ability to upgrade your Chorus II to “III” via the pro parts? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. Oh absolutely not disputing or arguing for one over the other. Was just mentioning how it’s the closest thing we’ll probably ever see to a “Chorus III.” I’ve heard neither but I’m sure they’re both amazing with the k510 being the next best thing to a 402 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. The 396 is a 2 way with the K510 The KI-362-II is the closest thing to a Chorus III you can get. The same horns and drivers as a FIII with a 15” woofer in a smaller cabinet. I wonder if you could fit them into a Chorus II cabinet and make a Chorus III of sorts with the passive. Might need to alter the crossover? The mid horn is smaller than the Chorus II though. 19. I’ll have my seating against the back wall soon as well. I only have similar bass traps to put at the reflection point on that rear wall. Would that be enough or will I have to do more like hang up a large thick curtain on the wall? I know acoustic solutions has a carpet like absorption you can glue to walls so that could be an option but both the curtain and the carpet are a bit much for me. I’d rather get more absorption panels than those options. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. I’ve seen this here in this photo and on some vertical Cornwall’s so I assume they are original Klipsch grill fabric but what is it called and can it be found for purchase these days?
  21. Interesting set up and very nice room. I'll be rearranging soon to similar distance listening and against the back wall due to the KHorns needing the long wall and i had already been researching diffusion panels. Everything i read recommended them on the back wall reflection point, but you're saying the opposite huh? Maybe i won't need any after all. Do the bass traps work well on the back wall? I've normally used them behind the speakers in the corners with short wall placement, but i suppose i can use mine on the back wall as well with similar sized square absorption panels like yours on the first reflection points to the inside of the speakers, and having heavy drapes to the outside of the speakers. I'll have 1 thinner but long and wide panel left i can use directly in the middle under the tv horizontally, but does it have to be tweeter height? Wouldn't the tv be tweeter height with the taller KHorns and the reflections would happen there? As far as diffusion, i've also recently read that 1 panel can do just as much for you over multiple, but again, that was back wall. Do you have a link to the diffusion panels you use?

    Is it the DACs?

What about PCM or bitstream? IIRC people say to use pcm instead of bitstream on tv Audio setting when connected to your AVR and also same settings on the PlayStation 4. Should be set them to bitstream in order to use the dac in my marantz avr without conversion? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
