  1. So there goes that option. I was just interested in using "premium" parts to get every bit of quality as I could. Still haven't heard the CWIV, but coming from Klipschorns to the CF-3 version. 1, I've learned i prefer 2 way for my personal taste. So my only options are 1. staying put and upgrade gear 2. Go active crossover w/k510 3. Ki-396 - ugly pro speaker 4. Wait for used La Scala+k510 Jubescala. 5. JUBE LF+K510 cant do massive k402 Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk
  2. I'd probably try and figure out a way to go active 2 way with the K510 and large format driver before all that. My 6 ch McIntosh MC7106 would lend itself very well to that project. I could bridge 320wpc to the LF and 100wpc to each HF or tube amp. The issue is not having a clue how to do an electronic crossover. Its my understanding roy gave the active settings for the Jubilee or using the k402 with la scala lf and people just tweeked from there. Could be wrong and it could be easier than expected? 3. My mistake, Bob did tell me he CAN replace the caps, but that's it. "First the crossover cannot be built on a separate board. The factory board used interactions between closely spaced parts as part of it’s tuning. All I can do is replace the capacitors. I cannot replace other parts as that would effect the tuning and I cannot modify one crossover type into another type for the same reason." Modifying was in reference to me asking if he could turn a CF-4 V2 network back to V1 and i would have added the longer port tube. I'm curious if madisound would be able to do that "board interaction between closely spaced parts" with their own board @314carpenter? Bob mentioned it's a very complex crossover.
  4. Sounds great, but i don't think either of those are the schematic for the version 1 CF-3 which i can't seem to find. There seems to be a lot of confusion on CF-4 and CF-3 schematics from what i've seen in the past. EDIT: Both of those schematics are 100% NOT version 1 or version 2 as the red/black wire is noted. I'll keep looking, but i don't think v1 is around anywhere.
  5. Haven't heard of JEM, here as in where you live or here on the forums?
  6. Ive seen some on ebay offering work on any speaker and any brand. Cant link as its been a while, but I wonder if someone on ebay offering services could get it done professionally. Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk
  7. Same for you? Cant get yours worked on? Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk
  8. I seem to recall Bob replying to me that he doesn't work on these when I first got my pair. Dean If I recall correctly, told me they were a pain in the *** and he wasn't doing them anymore. Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk
  9. Anyone do any crossover work on their CF-3 series 1 and/or KV-4? Capacitor and resistor upgrades with premium parts? Looking for someone to do the work as i don't think Dean or Bob work on these OR looking to buy plus trade my stock version 1 CF-3 networks for your upgraded networks. While i'm here, anyone got a pair of CF-4 ver. 1 for me to take off your hands in Texas, Louisiana or Arkansas near Tx border? 😁
  10. Might be more of an issue with shipping rather than cabinet build. There were a lot of shipping damaged Forte IIIs. The cabinet did need more bracing though. I'm sure passive radiators add to the cost, but removing them and opting for ports even with new mumps ports would be a mistake. The passive radiator is the big draw for it as an in between option from the HIV and CWIV. I still would love a 2 way w/ 15" driver. K510 or new cornwall horn. Better yet, Roy gives us an Epic CF-4 II. As much as I love the Chorus II, I dont see a place for its return with the Cornwall IV out. Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk
  11. Yeah, the III already has all the new things. Mumps horn. New compression drivers and tweeter. Iirc Roy voiced it and did the crossover. I cant see where it can be improved into a IV so soon other than reworking the crossover with new compression driver, and tweeter. Doubt they'd make the jump from a 12" driver to 15" and I doubt they'd put the larger horn the cornwall currently uses Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk
  12. In Houston. Would love these but im really happy with my ver. 1 CF-3 and just now integrating my RSW-15 to my liking. Really wonder if 3 way is for me anymore in small rooms. Its that upgrade bug for something new and shiny that is so tempting. I sold my single Forte III which would have been awesome to use as a center channel with CW IV Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk
  13. They will ship? Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk
  14. Oh man I would have loved to play with these and experiment with my cf3 LF Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk
  15. CF-4 revision 3/version 3 in production. Didnt mean CF3 Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk
  16. Looks like possibly v3. I cant faintly make out short port and darker horn. Could be my phone quality though. Great price for even a v3 Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk
  17. How exactly does one scam a local sale? Robs you gun point when you arrive to see the speakers...at his own home? Or did I miss something and he wants to ship only? So you pay and then you get your tracking order and you receive an envelope with the photo of the chorus II lol Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk
  18. Hell of a deal Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk
  19. CF-3 weighs in at 102lbs so not sure if something built for a kg4 would do it, but i'll take a look, thanks. I shouldn't have even asked though to be honest because i'm just now remembering how ridiculously expensive speaker stands can get. I'm not a handy man either. Small hands.
  20. Nice! I use a bridged McIntosh MC7106 320wpc 3x for my CF3 and KV4, i wish i had a center CF-3 set up. My Mac doesn't have the autoformers though, and red meters that gives a very 80s, early 90s tech feel to it that i love. I dream of true big mac amps with pretty blue eyes, but this still sounds nice with the MX120. KV-4 kind of sucks though. Been wondering if there are ways to improve it. Better 8" drivers, a KLF-C7 crossover from Bob which i believe has the same xover point. Or perhaps take an rc-7 and put the kv-4 aluminum cd in the rc-7 which should be screw on iirc.
  21. Wow. I thought it was wrong to tilt these up AND he said Klipsch recommended it, but i wonder if Roy recommends it? Need to try this with my CF-3 v. 1. I absolutely love them! Anyone got recommendations for a sturdy enough tilted stands that can support the weight of CF-3/4?
  22. It doesnt have the 8ch analog out or hdmi in. I was trying to make my big mac AVR up to date with the addition of those addons Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk
  23. MY MISTAKE. The Evolve II-4K DOES pass HDR and Dolby Vision. Using it plus a 4k hdr switcher with the 8 analog outs of the Evolve II-4k will keep your legacy AVR up to date! My only issue left will be that i can't bypass the McIntosh MHT100s processing for 2ch via my Tube Dac unless there's something i'm missing as i'll need to free up the analog in for the analog out from the Evolve II-4k, so a tube pre amp will be in my near future, which Evolve+Switcher(Roughly $320 investment) helps save my money so i don't have to spend $1400 or more on an Oppo for that HDMI In. Lower cost 4k Blu-Ray players image looks just as good according to reviews.
  24. Grr. Just realized the Evolve II-4k is HDMI2.0 and only passes regular 4k. Back to square 1. Might just have to shell out the big bucks for an oppo or just give up and use basic optical audio connections for all my devices
  25. I spoke with th guy who runs essence and from my understanding, i'd only get uncompressed 2ch pass through. So the front L/R would get True HD and Master and what not, so even if you could use optical to send compressed audio to the center and surrounds, whats the point of my L/R being uncompressed when it's just mostly ambience. The Center would be the most important to get uncompressed audio for voice, but obviously best to have all speakers uncompressed. Basically I think it's coming down to Evolve II($299) plus an HDMI 4k HDR switcher($19.99 https://www.amazon.com/Koopman-Switcher-Selector-Wireless-Supports/dp/B07PFHWHQT). So i'd get 7.1 analog out from the Evolve, plus 4 HDMI INputs with the switcher for my Blu-Ray player, Streaming Device, and PC, Game Console. Only i'm not sure how the switcher would connect to the Evolve. I'll have to email him and ask if these 2 devices would work together. This would all be solved if mid tier AVR's had pre outs for all the speakers, but they usually only come with 2ch pre out these days. My AVR can use all 8+2 Zone amps as stand alone power amps to send to another processer. Definitely don't think i'm going the Oppo route as I want to save up for a good Tube Pre Amp for 2ch with home theater pass thru.
