  1. Well my file size is too big from my cell phone pics,4MB. Did not get to tweak them much, currently 14'' from sheetrock wall and 6' apart, with no toe in and 3 feet from corners. Mounted the SB1s on stands and located them next to Forte 1s but 6'' above@ 42''. The SB1s are between the Fortes and the corner and toed in. The woofer really adds something right now,it is located 6 foot forward and on the left side, next to the component cabinet. Both the sub and sb1 speakers are controlable with the remote. A/V controller to 5 channel amp, no center channel, pre amp out to sub. Will be a week before I can get back and adjust some more. Any suggestions or observations would be greatly appreciated, Thanks Ben.
  2. I had only the old reviews and sparse info to go on. Seems that like you everyone likes the new mid. That was why I did not hesitate to buy these. Tested them before buying and very much liked the sound. The plastic horns are new to me so please forgive my inaccuracies. Replacing some Klipsch bookshelfs and will be running these with a Klipsch 12" powered subwoofer that was already in the system.
  3. Thanks for the help and specs. What I was used to seeing was the metal horns loaded from inside the cabinet. These are plastic installed from the front and the mid is not the larger one used in later models. The passive is in the back. Will get the ser#s and pictures to post later. Have to get system wired and put together, Thanks again for all the info.
  4. Just picked up an astounding looking pair of mint walnut Forte's 1s. They have the 12'' woofer and passive radiator, but the new midhorn and what looks to be a tatrix tweeter horn not the traditional K7 series. They are front loaded speakers. Is this a transitional model and would the specs be the same as the originals? Pictures to follow, too tired tonight.
  5. I have a ERC 3 cd player coming in Friday. Would it be better to rip mixed cds or go with an external DAC to steam outside audio? Are there any concerns with HDMI 2 ? Have been looking at the XDA2 gen 2 or a used Oppo since I have blown my budget already.
  6. Here is the basic plan if all goes well. Emotiva XSP1 running both outputs full range to two XPA2 Gen 2s. Fronts will be Khorns and rears will be Belles. Thought about using loop for an equalizer, any recommendations? Sources will be cd player, and a possible interface with Itunes, Ipad or Alienware computer, trying to keep from having a jillion cds around. Both sets of speakers will be stereo. Listening area is 8x16, actually half of a larger room divided by a movable partition.I have the ability to position the rear amp near the speakers on a separate power circuit, although I have been told a single outlet will suffice. Any concerns about running a xlr cable 20-25 feet or would you place the amps together and run speaker wire? Just looking to fill the room and yes sometimes the nut gets loose on the volume control. Any help or recommendations would be greatly appreciated, Thanks, Ben.
  7. Just wanted to look over the horns, but if the grills are affixed and you have to remove the horns for inspection I will leave it be. What would be best to wipe them down with? Found out both are oil finish, WO & OO.
  8. Want to give the Belles & Khorns a detailed cleaning and inspection. Khorns are ser# 2E507 or ZE507. Belles are ser # 8552418. The Khorns are oil finish walnut and the Belles look to be a finished oak possibly. Cross overs have been changed on Khorns from type a to Micheal Crites, but still have the originals. Any tips or hints on what to look for and how to best preserve them. They were very well cared for so I am not expecting to find much hopefully. Just want to look them over and shine them up. Thanks in advance for any help you can give.
  9. Had not thought about the seperation. May just let it be, Thanks for the heads up.
  10. Has anyone here tried to steam out a dent on an oil finished speaker? I have done it on furniture and gun stocks, with good results.
  11. I posted this in the ss amp category also, what do yall think about a McIntosh MX135 A/V control center and the MC7106 6 channel amp for $3500?
  12. Have a chance to pick up a MX135 a/v control center and a MC7106 6 channel for $3500. Was the original equipment used to power the speakers I bought. How is that price?
  13. That NAD is a beast, looked it up at $4000 suggested retail. Need to check the outcome on the Emotiva auction for the XPA 2. The McIntosh is still in the works, we are haggling over price. It is the MC7106 , but at $2500 seems a bit high. The speakers will both be on the 16' wall opposite each other. Have been looking at the Emotiva pre amp processor, some good used deals on ebay, good enough for just music?
  14. Had to go back and measure room is 16' x 24' with an 8 foot ceiling. Listening position will be front center about 6' from khorns and 7' from belles. I used to compete in the crank it up contests in car audio, was 3rd in the nation at one time. Moved on to build systems in some of the clubs. I do not mind loud as long as it is clear and precise. Funny that I used 15'' JBL pro woofers and midranges and still have 6 Klipsch horn tweeters from the car system. Usually pretty casual listener but there are those times when you have to turn it up.
  15. Thanks, I have been keeping an eye on craigslist. That is how I came about my speakers, one owner, matching serial numbers, purchased in the first few hours of listing and had others waiting in the wings for them. Had cash and got a very good deal on them.
