  1. Saw this from Fry's Black Friday Preview promo email to me...
  2. Well, not necessary, but if my speakers were capable, I'd wanna do it! Although, some have claimed no noticeable difference while others do. I wasn't aware of a minimum wattage requirement. That seems odd to me. About the Black Friday deals, every seller is doing something. A site like Crutchfield has decent information and filters which are handy for the features you are looking for. I happen to be a Yamaha guy, but it's all about the features one can afford.
  3. Nothing specific, but a 7.2 with assignable channels to allow for bi-amping would be a must for me. Lot's of Black Friday deals to be had.... I do not know the answer to your TV refresh rate question.
  4. Hi, IMHO that AVR may be underpowered if you plan on bi-amping those R28F's or like volumes great enough to really get them going. But, you know how opinions are :-)
  5. SOoooo, after sitting behind my keyboard at work all day insisting this is how my Yamaha RX-V473 functions, I decided to verify everything after I got home last night. Alas, I am wrong, mistaken and spouting BS! All function buttons directly affect the TV. Watching TV and listening to another audio source simultaneously is not possible. Lucky for me, my 2-channel system is in the same room allowing me to have the game on and listen to music through it. My apologies; I am sorry. ~Richard P.S. Good luck with the solution and please let us know how it works out.
  6. In my setup I can select the HDMI input (TV, Roku, DVD) and with the TV on watching say a football game, I can then select an AV input to put that sound through the speakers. If needed, I can then turn up the sound on the TV and the sound will come out of the TV speakers or I can select the HDMI input number to put that sound (matching what's on the TV) through the surround speakers. I would think your Marantz can do the same thing. Perhaps it's an "advanced" setup setting a little buried in the setup menus?
  7. I run a Yamaha HTR to Samsung TV. HDMI inputs are 1. FiOS 2. Roku 3. DVD. Each connected with HDMI and 1 HDMI out to the TV. I can use the HTR remote for switching between HDMI sources with the HTR OFF or on. I can listen to any audio source and still have the TV on whatever channel. The HDMI sources are independent of the audio sources. Is this not the case with your AVR?
  8. My pair fit easily in my '08 Chrysler Town n Country (tops removed as well as side panels removed). I agree with the blankets.
  9. Not well without building a false corner imo.
  10. I would be $5K deeper in speakers today if I was near their location!

  12. My 2 cents as I have been interested in bi-amping and read this thread... If the speakers were bi-amped, what, if any mods were made to them? Was an active crossover in use when demo'd to you (most likely yes). In reading about bi-amping and the KLF 30's, the low end does take more power. So, if you are not running as demo'd, bi-amped with an active crossover in play, you will not achieve what you heard. Bi-wiring is not letting you drive the low end independently. I read another member's post about bi-amping AND using subs. He explained that the 30's were great to down around 40 Hz and set his subs to 40 Hz and below. I think you have tried many things other than duplicate how they were demo'd and it seems to me you're in a "can't get there from here" scenario.
  13. I have a very similar pair with the same crossovers. I really enjoy them! GLWS!
  14. Beauties! Great price, too. If i were closer...... GLWS
  15. This thread has link from Klipsch support. Perhaps they will reconsider support for your unit?
  16. Wow! That's disappointing to hear. It seems to me it would behoove Klipsch to support it anyway as it is a $2k device with an obvious flaw.
  17. This? Red LED Flashes Slowly: Firmware problem. Unplug AC power for 15 minutes, and plug back in. If problem persists call 1-800-KLIPSCH. Is your unit not being covered under warranty??
  18. I would build a box/shelf that fits the tv stand to simply raise the tv.
  19. Does the sub sound ok connected to another system?
  20. I elevated my La Scalas, but have insulation directly under them. Bass response is better and overall sound has improved in my use case scenario. This pic was during their move so please excuse the mess, but you can see the height of the stand and the insulation under the cabinet.
  21. I have a Sansui SE-300 you are welcome to have if you pay shipping from 21409.
