  2. Just ask and ye shall be rewarded ! This is the best of the best for Klipsch info. Thanks to you for the info. I shall pass along the favor to someone to get even.
  3. There is a product call mass loaded vinyl that does the lead job better than lead.
  4. Properly done more birch will certainly take out a lot of the vibration. However it is often the corners of the box that are the problem. Make sure the existing layer is seriously well fastened and secured because any lack of a good connection will just pass on to the second layer. There is a material called green glue that the sound proofers put between layers of drywall to reduce vibration. You might want to try some of it between the layers.
  5. I have checked the Klipsh website but did not fine the specs. Any one know a way [with out complicated electronic equipment that is] to test for min freq with a given driver.
  6. Does anyone know where to find the specs on these horns? Specifically what is their minimum frequency?
  7. You have already owned a boat?

    DONE

Don: Just got the parts. Box looked like USPS had rolled it down a mountain. BUT... your really good packing kept the parts good. Seem to have every thing except one of the red seals from the horn. Not a problem since I plan to replace them anyway with new ones. I am going to use them [and a new 15" Crites woofer] to build a center speaker for my TSCM fronts. Thanks for the excellent packing and lets hope someone can make good use of the remaining horns. I note the electronics does not have a brand or mfg identification. Do you know the source of these?
  9. Tell your spouse how much better this is than owning a boat.
  10. This might make someone with Khorn front speakers a good center.
  11. Has to be a sweet sounding set of Belles. I did a somewhat similar refurbishment to my TSCMs complete with the ALK crossovers and the improvement was impressive. Put these with real sub and you got a fabulous stereo set ! Would like to know what you have that is so good so as to make these beauties expendable?
  12. I have a similar Samsung but the 85" model. We have a ton of hours on it even though is just over year old. Great TV and jd's price is a good one. Interesting after TVs and PCs getting cheaper and cheaper they are now starting to go up. Someone should buy this one !
  13. I think Robert has a point, doesn't seem to be much to be gained by putting a center between mains that are 5 feet apart.
  14. Sorry, like Amadeus had too many notes you have too many words. I too like content not special effects. Enough said.
  15. Here is a set of tscm on EBAY. Think this is the 3rd time I have seen them. KLIPSCH TSCM PRO - KLIPSCHORN SPEAKERS $24,000.00 *NEW!* http://www.ebay.com/itm/KLIPSCH-TSCM-PRO-KLIPSCHORN-SPEAKERS-24-000-00-NEW-/222519708751?hash=item33cf354c4f:g:sjYAAOSw8vZXMoDQ

    DONE

Probably not. The plan is to take all 4 horns and stuff them into the area where my center is now. A top hat would only use one set. Using both matches 6 speaker corner boxes against a 4 speaker center. Thanks though because TSCM parts are a bit hard to come by.

    DONE

For the pros here, I am acquiring the Khorn pieces to make a double speaker center speaker for my TSCMs. Sure the match up will be good.
  18. I have basically 3 settings on my Marantz. First direct stereo which I use for Pandora; second, TV which has my EQ settings on stereo and third, movies. Especially on the movies I like the rear surrounds and the back heights to be considerably louder than Audyssey would set. So I use Manual setup rather than Audyssey. I also like my custom settings on the multi-channel virtual surround better than the Dolby. There are so many controls I have spent 2 years learning the amp. I understand that the small setting on all speakers somehow makes the Sub work better. Maybe someone here understands this. Enjoy !
  19. I note that with my Energy speakers I actually have the gain for the RF 3s down about -4 db since the Energy speakers have a lower loudness rating.
  20. Not sure,,,, I have a multi channel amp with each amp tuned separately. Looking at my amp settings it does look like I have about +3 db extra gain on the center. But... the RC-52 also needed extra db. Seems like I had it at +5 but have lost the settings. I also thought the Crites diaphragms helped the timbre match up with the 82s.
  21. A couple of year ago I replaced the drivers in a RC 3 and installed a Crites Titanium diaphragm. Result is a really good, CHEAP center speaker. I have matched it to my RF 82ii and now to a new set of Klipsch Energy speakers. I think your efforts to keep this speaker are well directed.
  22. By the way, here is what I did for a center. Two R 81s crossed.
  23. I have both a RC 52 and a RC-3. The 3 to my ears sounds better but I have upgraded the tweeter to Titanium on both. It is my impression the 52 has two 5 inch woofers while the RC-3 has 6 inch. In any event my vote is for the RC-3. But.... listen to these guys because for movies much of the audio is from the center and a timber match can be important. Your Cornwalls have a great sound and a good center would be a plus. My choice is to totally destroy the budget and get a RC-7.
  24. Center speaker pic. My width is 16'. I say don't let anyone talk you out of the center speaker.
  25. If you are using a projector and screen just put the center behind. If a TV with some of them you can play both the TV and the AVR in which case the TV speakers make like a poor man's center. In any event a large percent of the audio comes from the center and the understandability of the audio improves with a center. I think it is worth working for. I put a theater in the attic of my home, see attached. For movies a center is much better than 2 channel stereo.
