  1. It’s a prototype, lol. Like pretty much all of the Heritage models to this day... Subject to improvement and availabilty of parts. Gotta like a company that keeps making a good thing better.
  2. Your post here co-incided with the arrival of some EV DH1A’s from the states. I think we are all on convering paths here...horns, folded horns, and bigger horns... Got hung up in rotating postal strikes up here, but I got ONE hooked up today for a direct comparison with the Faital Pro HF200. My git-ar playin’ son thought the EV sounded better. I am partial to the Faital Pro, but I am also biased because I know I paid almost 4X as much for them...! Keep in mind neither of these are EQ’d. Just standard tone controls. On a budget, the EV is a no-brainer, but man is it BIG! So big it sits perfectly flat on the K510.
  3. Don’t do it man! What was it Chris Rock said in one of his routines? Just because you CAN, doesn’ t make it a good _ ing idea! LOL! Run some leads to one of the other crossovers on another pair of speakers. Disconnect the tweeters if it a 3-way. ...I’m too late aren’t I...?
  4. Ok, so I got an AA crossover into my ‘86 LSI Split tops that originally came stock with the AL crossover. It has been about 5 months since I sold my ‘92 LS with the AL-3 crossover. I remember being thouroughly impressed when I played those for the first time at home. Bought them without even listening to them first! I had also bought the Crites A/4500 and CT125 tweeters on a whim (and the price was right) but never felt the need to change the stock AL-3’s in my first pair of LaScalas, I could not have imagined them sounding any better at the time. Having just heard the AA’s in my LSI Splits, I don’t think I could put my finger on any significant difference at SANE listening levels. If you find a pair of AA’s for a song you could give ‘em a whirl and always get your money back down the road. Like others here have said, different doesn’t always equate to better. Just diffderent... ...those are Peavey FH-1 bins with K-33-E woofers, just like in LaScalas, my LS bins are buried downstairs at the moment...
  5. I know what DeoxIT is, but the guy selling these “detoxed” units must have really known how to party!
  6. Another timely post! I HAD LaScalas with the AL-3 crossover. Loved ‘em! Plug and play. Sold ‘em when I got LaScala Industrial Splits. They came with AL crossover... Never even listened to them like that, put Crites A/4500 crossovers and CT125 tweeters in immediately. Was not as impressed as I expected. Very refined sounding LaScalas now and I miss the bite! Recently got some AA crossovers from another forum member to compare! I will try to get the AA’s and a pair of K-33’s swapped in this week and chime back in with the results.
  7. The “low-beams” on many new vehicles are RETARDEDLY bright. Ignorant, stupid, self-absorbed bright. And everybody knows it (lmao!). They are also higher off the ground than previously regulated. I’m not sure about this, but I believe democractic process could effect a change back to post-retarded intensities... Or is someone marketing a windshield that filters out the retina searing wavelengths now? It really is capitalism 101. Create the need and supply the product. More money for brighter lights, and more money for a filtering windshield. Only the working-class poor need suffer. Unless maybe a class-action lawsuit by people who have eye damage from this latest technology puts an end to this particular insanity of one-upmanship. Lawyers and optometrists alike can join in on the boom. Ironically, my old rose-coloured ski sunglasses work wonders for this, too... ... until they roll out the yellow laser high beams. Or I get my own Canyonero!
  8. The reason I say “IF” you can resist “toying” with them is pictured below. I don’t plan on getting rid of these, but “never say never”. They are currently in the master bedroom, but if I could fit LaScalas upstairs they may have to go. ‘84 Cornwall 1’s with original B-3 crossovers and square magnet K-33-E woofers. K-107-ti tweeters and K-61-K squawkers replaced the stock K-77 and K-57 equivalents. I do not think the K-107-ti has quite the 105db efficiency of the K-77, but in this application it shines. I actually (sadly) found the K-107-ti too bright as a straight swap for the K-79 in the Cornwall 2’s, Forte 2’s and Chorus 2’s I have owned.
  9. With Klipsch the only question you should ever concern yourself with is whether or not you have room for them, if the price is right... and those are about right! Bigger IS better. There is no replacement for displacement! The last couple years of Cornwall 1’s with the B-3 crossover are really sweet. One caveat, I sold my Hersey 2’s shortly after getting Cornwalls. Missed them so much I have since bought another pair for when I am “toying” with whatever speakers are in rotation as Heresys are so easy to swap in and provide so much of what Klipsch is all about in such an efficient little box! IF (and that is a big if) you can resist “toying” with them they should hold their value for when you make a few more inches of room for LaScalas! You already know you’re headed there... LOL!
  10. Emile, I found an Optonica 5151 in the thrift stores a few years back for pocket change. Same 85 watts a channel. Compared to another “find”, a Sony TA-F400 at 100 watts a side, it was pathetic...
  11. These arrived in the mail today, well packed and in great shape. I can’t wait to replace the stock AL crossovers in my LSI Splits with these! Welcome to the forum Steve, and thanks again!
  12. Every now and then an opportunity like this comes up where you get the chance to see what you’re missing. If you don’t think you will have any trouble getting your money back out of the purchase (and I don’t think you will...), you really owe it to yourself to give it a whirl. Nothing to lose but the time spent playing with them! The bass on the Cornwall II goes significantly lower than that of the Chorus 1 and you can swap your Ti tweeters from the Chorus as they are the same in both models. You might end up keeping both, lol. ...until you get LaScalas... who keeps saying that?!
  13. Excellent... I see you have them wired in stereo... LOL! Bet it is amazing! Love meatloaf... It’s been a while since I used the smoker. Homemade sausages were surprisingly awesome on a smoker too!
  14. $3300 for THREE Lascala II’s?! ...I cannot find the “jaw dropping on the floor” emoticon on my keyboard...
  15. The artwork on top of the left speaker is hip-no-tyzin’ me! ...MUST BUY LASCALA II’s...! but seriously, get some tempered glass tops for those beauties! You KNOW some bonehead will eventually set a glass down on them... And when it happens you will feel me cringe all the way from north of the border!
  16. Good! Now I can stop trying to figure out how to fit Khorns into a 1400 square foot house already packed with Klipsch. Smokin’ deal for whoever got ‘em!
  17. Emile, I am glad you found this post. I noticed the other day you were looking at something in Garage Sale but did not want to hijack that thread. I cannot believe how low these FH-1’s sound with K-33-E’s in them. And clear! The doghouse slot is much larger in these than that of the LS and I think that is “reflected” (lol) in the sound.

    Any comments

There was a pair of B&W speakers encased in GRANITE on Ebay for local pickup near me years ago. The seller said it was the only way his wife would let him put them in the living room! (Can I get an amen...? lol) They wound up going for a song. At the time it never occurred to me to buy them and just smash the granite to remove the fruit inside! I would be leary of transporting those MIRRORED Cornwalls across borders... No telling what has “accumulated” in the seams. I received some horn/drivers from Hawaii that had traces of “herbs” stuck in the bug screens when I disassembled them to check their condition before mounting!
  19. I don’t own, nor have I ever heard Heresy 3’s. I do own Heresy 2’s, again! They were so nice I bought them twice! lol Most amazing “small” speaker I have ever heard. I am amazed at the quality of bass from the Heresy 2’s. And the Hersey 3’s are supposed to be better! You could spend the difference on a sub? But, ...you will always wonder what you are missing if you don’t... Who said that?!
  20. I do. I may even go back to bridging my C372’s. I had the 120 watt version of the C372 years ago, the C370. Sold it to a guy who had the 80 watt version, the C352. He texted me a week later to tell me how much better the bass was on his PSB Image something-or-rathers...! Image 5t’s maybe?
  21. At the risk of offending someone... I would go big, or go home. If that is an option. There is no replacement for displacement. You may not ever turn the volume past 9 o’clock, but the woofers will know what to do with the extra horsepower. Tight and deep. I have owned half a dozen lesser NAD amps over the years. NONE of them sounded as good as the one(s) I kept. Currently running a C372 at 150 watts a side. I used to have a couple of them bridged. Got a “tester” amp, a Harman Kardon Citation 22 at 200 watts a side. At about the 50 watt LED it pounds! My Heresy II’s sound even better on it! Leaking caps and all...I can smell them as I type this! Lol
  22. Claude, have you ever tried the Kappa 15C in your FH-1’s? I have a feeling it may push them right over the top. As odd as this may sound, when I tried them in my ‘92 LS the combination of better midbass “seemed” to cover up or alleviate the hump. With 8 bolts that require a 3/8 wrench on the end of what amounts to lengthy threaded spiked bolts, I am not looking forward to the trial, but may have to. “Just so’s I know.” My scars have just healed from the Black Widow swap. Peavey really took it one step further when they routed out the doghouse where the woofer edge might slap the cabinet! Is it just me or are they quite comfortable crossing at 500hz? Maybe higher?
  23. Thanks to everyone for their input on these. I have owned, and LOVED, many Klipsch over the years... most recently ‘92 LaScalas, and LSI Splits. I preferred the ‘92 LS over the LSI Splits. So far... Most recently I ran the LSI tops with Crites A/4500 crossovers and CT-125 tweeters on both the stock LSI bins and FH-1 bins with K-33-E woofers. I wholeheartedly preferred the FH-1’s. But THESE have really started the ball rolling again: Klipsch K510 horn with Faital Pro HF200 driver. Crites CS-500 crossover. FH-1 bins with K-33-E woofers.
  24. This is where I am at right now. Same K510 with Faital Pro HF200. Same Crites CS-500 crossover. Peavey FH-1 bass bin with K-33-E woofers. I have several other “projects” running simultaneously. I just finished putting Crites A/4500 crossovers and CT-125 tweeters in the LSI tops and gave them a ride on both the LSI and FH-1 bins. The FH-1’s sounded better in every way... Given, the K-43 in the Industrial LS doesn’t go as low as the K-33, but it sounded octaves lower with the FH-1’s. I will no doubt wind up putting K-33’s in the LSI bins to do a head to head. ...after I run the current setup with the LSI bins stock... As had been suggested by several other forum members, this is a killer combination (K510 two-way with folded horn bass). I have been listening to the Booker T & The MGs recording pictured below on 8-Track, cassette and now CD, since I was a kid. MY BIG FAT KLIPSCH INDUCED PERMASMILE HAS RETURNED!
