  1. I'm working on a couple of projects and would like to see these as well. I did do a rebuild on some Heresies not long ago. Maybe these photos will assist you in some way... http://s1368.photobucket.com/user/MCoffel/library/Klipsch%20Heresy%20Restoration
  2. SO... our seller turned out to be a VERY nice lady! I met and we talked about how much it would take to get these bad boys up and running including refinishing the veneer. She let me have them for a very reasonable price which will allow me to replace ALL internals, need be. I have some spare parts (see the $60 La Scala project thread) so I hope to have them up and running soon. Going with Crites CT-120 tweeters. My wife is picking out veneer... Cheers and thanks again Kenlengoo1! Side note: I ran across some Ohm Walsh 4's at a junk shop for $20. Couldn't pass them up. I think I have them sold as is to help finance the Cornwall refurb/rebuild.
  3. I have a friend who recommends a different product. I do not know the name but I'll let you know...
  4. I will most certainly take many photos. The plan is a full rebuild of the crossovers. I've got that covered. Thanks!
  5. This has been weighing heavily on my mind for that exact reason. Templates... exact placement or chisel it off and begin again. If I am to keep them, I want them to be special. One thought I had was flat black inside with exception of the "V" portion which will be contrast with a cherry stained birch or ??? veneer, But even then, tough to do. I'm thinking vertical grills to cover the openings in the doghouse has well like Mathews has done on some of his. I'm going to get the crossovers done and gather the missing speakers components etc and go from there. Pulled the drivers off the mids and there is like cotton balls stuff in the driver end of the horns! Also - The caulk peeled right off less a few tid bits.
  6. Thanks so much! The voice coil is larger in diameter than the speakers in my La Scalas. Regardless - I will match the speaker types/voice coil size just to be safe. I have to think there is some difference that will manifest itself to the listener. . . . . maybe. lol
  7. SO... missing the tweeters, needs one woofer and at the very least a sand and refinish. PLUS... a possible re-cap of the crossovers.
  8. I posted them for her earlier on in the thread but she figured it out.
  9. WOW. Would love to have one of these. The 1700 is THE last Technics RTR.
  10. After looking again, perhaps the mids are there.
  11. I made contact. They are "U" serial #. They appear to missing all the speakers save for one woofer. I'm fairly close if someone is interested and can go take a look but I think I would pass for empty cabinets. Hope you don't mind my 2 cents and sharing the pics kenlengoo1...
  12. My La Scala project speakers are 1977. I was given this extra woofer. What are your opinions on which would offer the best bass? The original square back K33 or ??? I'm not even sure what vintage this woofer is. Can someone ID the year? Thanks!
  13. The AM-2800 is quite rare here in the states and for an integrated amp, it will perform admirably with Klipsch speakers. I'm using one to power a pair if Heresies. It's unique loudness control makes the Heresy come alive. Cheers to your recent score!
  14. I think someone was trying to eliminate "cage ringing" with the terry cloth. Not sure. Put a meter on everything and all the speakers are good. A friend came over yesterday and did his best to sway me towards a stock rebuild. Being that the dog house is intact but apart on the one, I would love to veneer it but that leaves the other being a little more difficult to veneer. Especially if I want everything visible done. So... I need to make a decision on the woofer and do a full rebuild on the crossovers and during that time I will mull over what direction to go with the cabinets. I've veneered before so I'm confident enough to choose something a little more exotic. I'll get the wife's opinion on that.
  15. Right. I've called before. I restored some Heresies and used his "kit" for the crossover. Link: http://s1368.photobucket.com/user/MCoffel/library/Klipsch Heresy Restoration
  16. Exactly! I have a relatively "stock" pair so I want to make these something special.
