  1. Hey, everyone has to be a kid now & then. Went to an estate sale and there before me was quite the collection of Chevron toy cars. I remember back in 98' when they first came out I kinda liked them. Not enough to buy them as I was too old I thought. Well, fast forward to 2018 with daughter & two grandkids that are 3-4 years old respectively. It was a eureka moment when I saw them sitting on five glass shelves. I shot a pic off to my wife and she ORDERED me to get them. She had collected them for her son when he was a little boy and I quote "like a dummy I threw them out". She been looking for them ever since. What you don't see is the vehicle transport big rig which holds five cars, fire truck and about five more cars as those went to the grandkids. They were smiling ear to ear when they got them. Gotta say, these cars are goofy and it's great to have kids especially when they can provide "cover" for buying toys "for them". My favorite is the car & pig. Wife likes all the special cancer ones and my daughter lives the ice cream trucks which do make the traditional ice cream vending noise. A pleasant surprise. At a $1 a piece one couldn't go wrong as they are in mint condition.
  2. Wow, great insight. This sounds parallel to the Peace officer profession be they prison, sheriff's, men in blue etc. Often times the "punishment" for more serious offenses from not doing night count of bodies in prison to a lack of common sense is decided "in house" before a panel. One instance of a guy who would have a habit of leaving his side arm and rifle unsecured in public places. Common sense right so nobody steals them, public safety etc.Gun owners KNOW never to leave a loaded firearm on a chair unattended and walk away. 90% of the time the punishment is less than favorable. While most of the reprimand is reduction in pay and rank it can be harsh. A few have lost their homes. However, my take is they thought you were SOMEWHAT salvageable and let you keep your job and hopefully this "correction" will make you a better person. Otherwise the in house commission then hands it over to another body outside the department. If it gets there you have less than .01% chance of coming back. As was the case with the guy who had good book smarts but no common sense when it came to firearm safety. The department let him go after the third time. One can appeal outside via the courts but most of the time judges give wide latitude to these commissions.
  3. I'll be right behind you doing that next week. Making that area which I refer to as "no man's land" a dog run for Lily. The rocks are from the last project about five years ago. I'll be taking out the drain like you have which I assume I have and installing one with a flat open grated drain.
  4. Sorry I wasn't clearer. I WAS going to get it but this flu hammered me yesterday so I wasn't able to make the drive. Jim was a nice guy and understood. I had every intention of getting it but that wasn't yesterday.
  5. Thanks. Hand washing #1. Also took Clorox wipes to all lights switches, door handles etc wherever my hands would touch. No tamiflu. Drinking around 32 oz an hour of juice, water, vitamin water, multi vitamins etc. It's a ridiculous amount of fluids but my body responds well to lots of fluids and from my experience kills the flu time in three days with lingering sniffle thereafter. You think I'd be running to the bathroom a lot. That's not the case which goes to tell you how much my body uses to fight the flu. It's crazy. My back is KILLING me from the coughing and outside of taking otc meds(which I normally don't like to do) it's one I haven't found a remedy for. Take care everyone. Stay healthy.
  6. Daaaaaaaamn it. Finally caught the flu. I dodged, bobbed, weaved, zigged and zagged but it finally got me. Took care of the wife who still has it somewhat co-workers sick and have the chills as I write. Going to get some yummy Thai chicken soup delivered. Can't come soon enough.
  7. This was good deal in Oregon I thought. $500. A little static for 2-3 seconds when shutting down otherwise a one owner pristine Mc. Would have been my first McIntosh audio gear. Unfortunately, it's in the next state over and this flu has tank rolled me so no driving for this ace. Maybe next time..
  8. That I didn't know. Thanks
  9. I agree with you. Unfortunately, I have 3 out for total restoration including a Marantz. To add another would be ridiculous.
  10. LOL. Something like that. Although I'm 100% I would have made it there getting back into the house would have been TOUGH. Mighty kind of you and would have gladly paid the beverage tax. Thank you. But I'm sorta glad I didn't know. Haha. Well.....murpmhfrul... Umm....the speed limit of course! Oh man, thanks TasDom. I should have done that. Appreciate it. I'm hoping someone who picks it up shares some close-ups of it. While the price was VERY enticing it's the rust on the fin bolts, paint chipping and such that would have had me guarded for what's inside. It didn't live an easy life that's for sure.
  11. Aside from his great mind which I admire for sure it was his ability to admit when he was wrong. That is the mark of a wise man. Under peer review on some theory of a black hole if memory serves right his colleagues pointed out an error. That's when I was impressed with him.
  12. This is well past I'm-going-nuts-I-will drive-ten-hours straight kinda deal. This is 16hrs and 1800 miles. Just 1790 miles and 15 hours 50 minutes to far for me. https://albuquerque.craigslist.org/ele/d/sansuimonster-stereo-receiver/6528787892.html
  13. Unfortunately, this does not work with the wife.... Repeated Listening(to wife) Increases the Liking for (her) By Chris A, Friday
  14. Speaking of Coffee, Cocktails & tables.... Went to an estate sale and this isn't something you see every day. An indoor bbq. I love seeing things like this.
  15. Now I KNOW where Carl's Jr gets their "turkey" burgers they call chicken. I thought it tasted funny. Wild turkeys strutting through the drive thru. There was actually two and you can barely make out the tail of the other sticking out of the black car.
  16. I can relate. I chose to work nights which allowed me to be with my wife and daughter at the most important times of the day. I come home at 7:30 whip up a quick coffee and "breakfast" for my two favorite girls and see my wife off to work while I take my daughter to school. Something about walking with her with her little hands in mine. It's only a short walk but I love it. Sometimes wife and I get to have lunch and off to sleep I go about 1-2pm. Then back up at dinner with them and off to work I go. It's hard on the body but it's worth every minute to be with them. My whole point is FAMILY FIRST. Guys at work want to go out and see an NFL game etc but you know if I had done that I have missed my daughter first rolling over or other milestones. They always have come first. I laugh as I have another twelve years to go and only if you knew what TYPE of people I have to deal with. Comedy, horror and the weird. Wife says "How was your day honey?" Not exactly dinner conversation so I'll reply "uneventful". It's better that way. Really.
  17. Very well, sometimes has relapse it overall a A-. Lots pasta, belly rubs and whatever else I'm not even going to ask their giving her when I'm not looking. A funny.. Yesterday she got a nice warm bath with a deshedding mitt. Extreme princess package that took us a little over an hour. Afterwards she went NUTS! ZOOM, ZOOM this way and that way feeling good. I looked at the ingredients with suspicion. Not that. I thought, damn then I'm going to get deshedding myself and promptly went to the hair stylist that I've been going to for twelve years. I asked her if she had the same that would make me do that. She cracked up. While I didn't zoom, I certainly had a nice pep in my step after the haircut. She's doing great.
  18. Ok, so maybe not a "great" photo but here is Lily knocked out cold. She didn't hear me open the door. Not like I was quiet either as there is a chain on the door. So much for being a robust guard dog.
  19. ^^I played pitcher and short stop. Good memories.
  20. Lily is doing extremely well. Being young they bounce back quicker like kids? Here is a week... Sunday was her first day time walk around the block. (Prior to this I had her walk at night a couple times to get her used to the "sights" as best as she could by our neighborhood street lamps and scent to break her in slowly) Lot's of stops and hesitation. Took half an hour to go around our circular block that with normal walking is maybe five minutes. (Five time around it is a mile) Monday same thing and less hesitation but still stop and go. Kinda jerky walking with leash. Fifteen minutes this time. Making progress! Tuesday decided to take her on my usual big oval three miles walk that I do and she did great. Still a little leery of people going either on their own morning walk/jog/cycling and would hug my leg for "protection". Even the HOA landscape guys were suspect as she would tip toe past them. Wednesday semi normal walk around and learned to sit before crossing the street. Proud of her! Oh and walked past the HOA landscaper sloowly but did good. Lotsa "atta girl" belly & head rubs. Today she trotted along side of me while I huffed and puffed shuffled this 230 lbs as best as I could. She was on her tippy-toes light as ever like a butterfly. I was envious her. I let her know between gasp of breath I would have outrun her at 18. Felt better after that. Now this is how she greets us every morning... https://photos.app.goo.gl/FZrsZPuj8UvRC0wp2 So progress is slow and she still occasionally reverts back to her crouching when I walk towards her sometimes. But follows me around the house freely. She's potty trained too. Our two older daughters came over along with the two our grandsons ages 3-5. Lily did OK with our daughters and more importantly our grandkids. Sniffing them (everywhere ) and walking with them. It's obvious she likes kids. Our middle daughter (26) used to work for SPCA so she knew right away seeing her the first time. Lily came right over to her. She loves that family room couch you see in the video. Exhausted, yesterday I took a nap in the formal living room and Lily woke me up with kisses and lots of butt wagging. I'd been out two hours! Vet check up Friday to assess her weight and overall health. Hopefully she's gained a little fat. Thanks for asking. My face after her sneak attack..got the boxer kiss.... yuk!
  21. Ever sold something to someone and felt good about it? Let go of my Carver system to a gent who was a true fan of his gear. Wife & daughter(in Martial arts uniform) accompanied him into our home around 9pm to take a look at the system. He really only wanted the amp but being a fan decided to take both the pre & power amp. He sent a text later thanking me and told me how he purchased a brand new Bob Carver home theater amp back in the day when it came out. Had it for all of one hour when he set it up on his stereo rack and somehow took a nose dive. Breaking it! Well he sent it off the Carver repair and after they heard what happened they charged him nothing. You read that right. Nothing, to get it back to new. That's a class act. He could have been S.O.L. but the company took care of him. You don't hear about that too often now days. First time I accepted a cash/check from a sale of a CL add too. Great family.
  22. I got all excited and jumped into this thread. I thought you were talking about these.... "French mandolin cookies" Carry on..
  23. A fine job! Say... maybe he can fly over and do my Bell's. Sunny California...(checking airline tickets...)
  24. Thanks all. Many things I can handle from the military to my job. But hurting animals(kids too) ALWAYS gets me. Well she went to the SPCA spay clinic and "hugged" me tight. I don't blame her! She woke up this morning and gave my wife two wiggles and a "jelly bean" welcome. (Boxers when a happy, walk in a jelly bean fashion a genetic trait) but just went bonkers for my daughter. Speaking of genetic traits. Boxers LOVE couches. She did hop onto the couch and my wife favorite recliner. I'll have to talk to her about that.
