  1. Here's how clueless she is. You know those tests that they do on how alert dogs are? I think it's safe to say she totally failed. She won't be no home guard dog Look REAL close. Ninja cat 1. Boxer big fat 0.
  2. Yesterday rescued a boxer from some idiots. Not exactly "abused" just severely neglected and left for couple months in the back yard with four other dogs for survival of the fittest. Answered an add in the CL and once there which was a 158 mile one way I was seriously depressed. I've raised boxers and their disposition is happy, go lucky how are you types. THIS boxer ran from the owners hiding under the bed of a truck, running across the yard to wedge itself between a trailer and the home. They managed to drag her out and it was all I could do from letting my blood hitting boil. I thought there is no way I can work with this dog. It was filthy and scared as all get out. The owner picked up a stiff as aboard dog and started to bring her to me but seeing that she was already scared of men I let my wife and daughter take the lead. She immediately responded to them. She licked my daughter right away and those two hit it off. You could just tell "Lily" (I got to name her) liked kids. My wife she was equally ok with. After about ten minutes with them I came over and just squatted there letting her get used to us. My wife said "we need to get her out of here". I agreed. I'm good with dogs but.... However, this would prove challenging. There is no instruction manual just go by gut. So I gently grabbed onto her collar and held her and talked to her for ten minutes petting her. Then I had my daughter hold a treat out from ten feet away. She responded! Stiffly walking to her she gladly accepted it. That's a start! Did this maybe ten times just to get her to walk. The owner "you can pick her up and put her in the car". I calmly (wanted to use other words)told him "She has to do it on her own. She has to come on her own will." An hour later she made it from the front yard to the bumper of my car. That's a win in my book. All of 75" took an hour of coaxing and a little bribery. He was pissed it took so long. I so badly wanted to yell at them. She was a good girl on the ride home too. I had to carry her to the bathrooms for shower though. Well after a good hour of shampooing, pampering she's white again! Her ears were really, really dirty. Got out as much as I can could but the vet will do the rest tomorrow. First night at home she was SO exhausted almost falling asleep sitting up. Kinda funny. Swaying left to right. I stayed in the downstairs bedroom and she was staying in the tv room. About 3:15 in the morning I heard her yelping and whining. Checking up on her she was panting as if she has run 5 miles. Clearly she had a nightmare or panic attack. Stayed with her for about 10 minutes then I decided to sleep on the couch. After that she slept like a baby. This morning her appetite was very good as she is WAY underweight for nine months old. As I greeted her this morning I got ONE butt wag but wasn't sure I saw it. However when my daughter came downstairs there was so much butt wagging to power small home. Another good sign. Today she was trained to walk with me. Only took an hour but she decided she would go with me. She started out not so sure kinda jumpy but with some encouragement loosed up a bit as we went around the block stopping fifty times as she jumped at every sound. It broke my heart as she came to me with her nose almost touching the ground. I brought her head up and told her "hey you gotta hold your head up. Your a good girl". She SLOWLY started to "take pride" walking. The COOLEST part. Called the SPCA.to get her spayed explaining the situation and told them she's in heat too. Unfortunately they were booked out for couple months but reservation do get cancelled. That was 8am. By 11:30 am I got a confirmation of her operation tomorrow at 7:30 am!!! Blown away. That NEVER happens to us. I guess someone was watching over her. Today much more but wagging and healthier disposition. Time will tell what her personality really is. But so far she doing ok. Below her resting on her first day home. Checking her "Pee-mail" on our first walk together.
  3. Just made a run to local grocery store as they had inteligenica coffee beans on sale for 50% off. $7 each. Perfect. Looking forward to waking up tomorrow.
  4. Recently I went to the Antique fair of all places and found the original CDs (by date) for $1 each. Hauled off some favorites. Same with DVD's. Wen tot an estate sale. $1 each! Grabbed about 12 of them never opened. Ironically just twenty minutes prior I had purchased Men in Black three CD set at Walmart and promptly returned them when I found these for $3 at the estate sale still sealed. Lol.
  5. I went through that situation awhile ago trying to figure out what would fit right with the Bell's. Finally found a lady selling a vintage entertainment center that coincided with Bell's decade. Happy camper for $40. I'm contemplating putting the same cloth as the ones on the Bell's to match it black. Hehe. There is actually another piece to this I found by accident that was on the east coast. Arrgh. Seller didn't want to ship. Best of luck to you.
  6. Avguytx Looking forward to your impressions on the switch. I just thought it odd here I'm pushing 250 watts each side of the Bell's and while it's overkill it's perfect. It makes me think hard not to go to low watt tubes. Maybe big McIntosh Goliath tubes but 10 watts ones? Hmm, suspect at best.
  7. Yup. Love to hear others experience of synergy. Not just great sound but the next level.
  8. Often talked about in audio circles when the right gear just makes everything come together for that "magic" to happen to music. I have that. But that didn't stop me from mixing things up a bit. As of yesterday the combination of Wharfedale Denton's 80th anniversary speakers paired with my Sony STR -7045 is unbelievable. 3D, excellent imaging, accurate staging of musicians, wide sound stage, warm, laid back with highs floating in the air at times ect... Downstairs the Klipsch Bell's paired with the Marantz 2500 is like a Ferrari. Everything as above in terms of sound , 3D etc..while the Marantz reproduces music clear, clean & cool without fatigue the Klipsch at 104 db just loves to flat out RUN with that Marantz . Bass is tight & well controled easily going around corners in the house tapping your ear while shaking the walls when called for. Then it can shift effortlessly to late night listening sessions in an instant and hear everything perfectly. Decided to swap the two receivers places. Whoa, what is this? The Sony now on the Klipsch isn't projecting the sound and the sound stage is flat two dimensional "wall". Imaging is accurate just bland. The Marantz 2500 on the Wharfedales while powerful doesn't project the sound on low volume the same way as the Sony did. The bass is almost absent and sure I can project the sound by brute force it's just not the same. Which should be easy with the Marantz 250 watts per channel on the dinky Wharfedales right? The Sony at 35 watts does this effortlessly on 86 db Wharfedales. Go figure. Strange world we live in when one thinks bigger is better on smaller speakers while lower watts on high sensitive speakers should be a match. I'll be switching them back later today. Back to synergy.
  9. New Marantz 2500 to join my other one..
  10. Answered a CL ad for a Marantz 2500. After a three hundred mile trip came back with a pristine unit. Enough of that. Mother nature always takes the show. I never get tired of seeing such beautiful sights My trip up to and around Lake Tahoe. How ducks can stand that COLD water????
  11. Pristine describes this unit. Made my way up towards Lake Tahoe today and what a gorgeous day it was. Here are some Tahoe pics on my way to pick up the Marantz. https://photos.app.goo.gl/5J5TyRNlgJpUxWoB3 Good night. Cheers
  12. Scored a second Marantz 2500 TODAY! Very humbling. It's hard enough to get one in the wild let alone two.
  13. Indeed. For awhile we had to rely on other countries to throw our payload into space. European space agency, Russia, China etc... Good to see U.S. taking back the lead again or at the very least competing on a level playing field. Being independent is a beautiful thing.
  14. *Scratching chin* I like the way your thinking. Send the crappiest car up there to show how far behind we REALLY are. Show "them" we are not a threat. A little head fake so they don't see what we're really doing. *Evil laugh" Galactic domination! In the meantime I'm just trying to figure out how to put together this Ikea furniture $@&_*
  15. Op. Go with your bank statements showing debit/credit card purchases in Texas.
  16. California tried that b.s. many years ago with retired people. They got slapped. Trying to reach into another state to collect income.
  17. Anyone see the Falcon heavy rocket blast off with via YouTube or live? Pretty damn impressive they were able to land both boosters in sync. A Tesla roadster was on the payload. https://youtu.be/uvuYSf_UiPk
  18. Yamaha RX-777 Bell's. Talk about BRIGHT and fatiguing. However, I have nothing but praise for Yamaha build quality inside of that unit. Each side almost a mirror image of the other half. Beautifully laid out.
  19. So it is "legal" thus everything comes back full circle eh? So there might be hope yet. Just need to introduce them to psychedelic sounds.
  20. Hoarders. That's why there is few good sound to go around! Bunch of pack rats that won't ever let their audio gear see the light of day I tell ya. Like some acoustic black hole they suck up any deal to be had then the good sound is never to leave the basement for others to enjoy. They tell themselves "I'll repair it one day" as they look at 75 receivers, 40 pair of speakers and STILL scour the net for more gear. You know who you are. I was plain dumb lucky to get my Marantz 2500. Hoarders. It's their fault. The whole lot of them. The rest of society had HAD to go to peasant iPhone & iPods. Small sampling from the net.
  21. I'm bit of a nerd so whenever a Einstein wormhole, paradox whatever comes up I naturally jump in. In this case a cute video that I think most will understand and relate too as kids. Especially when we were kids and had great imaginations. Do keep a little kid in you. Time goes by too fast.
  22. Is the titel track Houdini acoustic only? I'm digging the original opening. Like Dtel said while this is not my genre of choice I can and do appreciate quality. A very good recording indeed.
  23. Nothing like a good bowl or Ramen (or Pho) on a winter night. Yummy!
  24. My brother-in-law has a Challenger and just recently coming back from Reno he received another ticket. His third for speeding. Lucky for him that ticket was in another state. We told him time and time again you keep messing around like this you're not going to have a car to get to work they will revoke your license. I chided him and said obviously you like giving free money back to the government. I told him he has a great job making 5 grand a month and you're going to piss it away on speeding. Told him to get rid of that car. He finally got it. I think he's been ticket free for a year so far.
