  1. Ever since I got my Node 2i and the Denefrips Pontus Dac I listen to Tidal much more often than spinning vinyl but when I want to play a record its nice to have a more than decent vinyl playback option and now I have the Technics and the Dual. and both sound great and are fun. I try and make sure everything I do is fun! as often as possible. 👏
  2. I love it when I buy two and sell one and that pays for the one I keep!!!! Congrats - and yes it run silent and with the Shure Cartridge Pete had loaded sounds very very good to me
  3. Its funny - I think Pete H, Dave A and Claude are all buddies and all three of them pack the gear they sell as if their lives depended on getting it to you safely! Im loving the new TT - Just added the KAB fluid Damper and the Achromat platter Mat and its sounding SWEET! 🤘
  4. I have over 300 albums and some of those were never on CD or streamed anywhere. I listen to vinyl almost daily on my Dual 1229. When not listening to vinyl I stream Tidal with a very analog sounding DAC from Denefrips.
  5. It was a very interesting first day with the Technics 1200. Before receiving the turntable I read many threads about the shortcomings of the 1200. Many people said almost everything about it was mediocre and many modifications were required to have it sound even barely listenable. ahhhhh - Audiophiles!!!!! lol So I added a better mat and setup the cartridge and my phono preamp up to match and have spun many albums that I have listened to many times on my Dual 1229 and think the Technics sounds equally as good. Very interesting takeaway from this experience. My hearing must not be very good because I do not hear a bad sounding turntable. This is almost straight out of the box. Is modifying something that is already very high quality necessary for everything in the audio world? What do audiophiles hear that I do not? Do records sound vastly better on a Rega or VP, Garrard, or Clearaudio or is there only so much you can get out of vinyl playback. Is it real or mostly "really" HYPE? I dont have any answers here. To my ears in my system my valve amp sounds better than my hybrid Mcintosh Integrated did but does it really sound better? hmmm Same with my Denefrips Dac seems to sound much better to me than my old chip based Dac.???? The one thing I can say for sure - the upgrades I have done to my speakers have made a HUGE difference but are other parts of the chain as critical to enjoying the music?
  6. I recently purchased a "new to me" Technics 1200 MKii with a Shure m97XE cartridge from fellow Klipsch Forum member Pete H. He packed it better than I have seen anything ever packed for shipping and it arrived flawless as has everything I have bought from Dave A and Claude. The turntable looks BRAND new and after quickly setting it up it sounds really good. Perhaps as good as my fully restored Dual 1229 with a V15 Type 3 cartridge and Jico SAS stylus. I will have to spend some hours playing many of my favorite records but I just wanted to share the great experience I had with this purchase and the amazing packing job Pete did with this precision Turntable! Kudos!

  13. My wife came home and thought the Super Heresys sounded exactly the same as my Fortes
  14. Finally tried the Super Heresy modded speakers as my mains just to compare to my Fortes and I am very impressed with how good they sound. Very close to the sound of the Fortes but the mid bass of the Super Heresys might actually have more punch. My initial listen as my mains surprised me because there is very little difference between the larger Fortes and the small Heresys. Also I find that the Fortes sound best placed about 8 inches off the back wall but the Super Heresys can be out from the wall without losing any bass. I was also surprised how well the Supers Imagaed! ----- Thanks again Dave A and Claude for all the years you spent dialing these puppies in and sharing your recipe with everyone.
  15. I can not imagine selling my EVO 400. Im sure there are amps that sound amazing in both SS and Valves and some have spectacular technical specs. Some may sound better than the Primaluna but with my Fortes and Sub I cant imagine replacing for something that sounds better. Different is possible but an upgrade??? Highly unlikely! this of course is just my opinion but i understand if people disagree.
  16. I updated the crossovers on my Fortes and changed out the K77 Tweeters to Dave A's Lmahl Tweeters and that made the Fortes sound so much more accurate and bright without sounding fatiguing. My large HSU sub adds plenty in the lower registers that isn't found in most speakers. A good fast sub that digs down below 20 HZ helps you feel the music and feeling is just as important to me as hearing. So far I am loving Claude and Daves Super Heresy upgrades and the projects fixing them up have been a lot of fun and they feel very custom now in our home.
  17. yes claude and I have discussed possibly making that change along with moving the tap up one on the Autoformer
  18. I followed Claudes recipe but he helped me decide to hold off changing capacitors until after i had listened to the speakers for awhile - I was surprised how close the Supers sounded to my Modified Forte 1s. Where they are positioned as surrounds I may not change the crossovers - still to be determined - I picked up the 4 uF and extra 2 uf capacitors if I decide to change those out
  19. When I got them home from my big Ebay Heresy purchase -
  20. my forte and Super Heresy along with my HSU sub and Primaluna EVO 400 - As good as my Super Heresys sound I think my Fortes still sound even better but the Supers are much closer to sounding more similar to the Fortes than they did before the changes to the Heresys were made.
  21. Last year i picked up some very beat up 1979 Heresy speakers from an Ebay seller. They were in bad shape but I was looking for a project to play with and try my hand at veneering. Early on I changed the woofers to Crites woofers and later I changed out the capacitors, stripped off the old messed up veneer and lined the speakers with acoustical foam. I then added some slant risers from Bob Crites. I set these up as my surround speakers and they were a major upgrade from the small speakers I had been using in that situation. Lately Ive been bored and decided to take the Heresys to another level. I decided to change out the klipsch tweeters and replace them with Dave As SMAHL tweeters. After texting with Claude I decided to take them all the way to the Super Heresys that Dave and Caude have been building for a number of years. Claude helped me by giving me a great deal on a pair of Klipsch K-42-KP. woofers. I added a rear 4" port to the back of the speakers and just fired them up and WOW!!!!! The bass is so much stronger - extremely more punchy and the midrange also has more oomph. Very clear now and quite impressive. Just finished them up a few minutes ago so I have not had a good listening session yet but they are obviously at another level. I must thank Dave A for his amazing Smahls and his assistance and Claude for spending years dialing in these Supers This forum has a lot of talented people who are willing to share their knowledge and experience and help out other fellow audio enthusiasts. Thanks Dave and Claude - ps - I knew that Daves Smahls would be great because I changed out my Klipsch tweeters for Dave A's Lmahl tweeters on my Forte Ones and that was an amazing upgrade. I wonder if anyone wants to buy my Crites woofers and my original Forte or heresy tweeters?
  22. I purchased a Dual 1229 on ebay a few years ago. Seller assured me it was in mint condition but had no dustcover and the Shure V15 type 2 in bad condition. Took it to the local vintage repair shop where they made it worse than when I received it. Finally found a true master outside LA who completely refurbished the 1229 and I found a Shure v15 type 3 on ebay and bought a new stylus and it sounds fantastic. but... it wasn't something that worked right out of the box. I love it but vinyl can be a commitment no matter how you get into it. I alternate between my vinyl and streaming Tidal depending on the mood and music I only can get on vinyl
