  1. Thats the ticket Mobile! Fantastic post. A post like that really makes me feel "I made the right choice" Soon, I will save my pennies and venture into "tube land" I know my SM-70 is a keeper. -benny ------------------ Monarchy Audio: SM-70 class A amplifier zero feedback Onkyo DV-S535 dvd player(transport) Klipsch Heresy II mahagony finish with riser stands Monarchy Audio Model 33 dac/pre AudioQuest Slate speaker cable / Diamondback interconnects - Bolder Cables digital coaxials>
  2. Hey guys, Max sounds like real fun. I wish some of my friends would have a clue. I tell you, these Heresy's are really in a league of their own. I have not turned off any of my units. The Bolder cable has been running for 4 days now. It started horrible, But, who's in a panic? not me! Now its really settled in. My soundstage is wider and my lows are a bit better. I need a sub most definitely. Words to describe....."presence" ! I will try to load a pic of my gear soon. Thanks again to All. -benny ------------------ Monarchy Audio: SM-70 class A amplifier zero feedback Onkyo DV-S535 dvd player(transport) Klipsch Heresy II mahagony finish with riser stands Monarchy Audio Model 33 dac/pre AudioQuest Slate speaker cable / Diamondback interconnects - Bolder Cables digital coaxials>
  3. WOW !f> How can I explain, without sounding too "korny", well, its impossible! I have had my system running no-stop since 1/31/01. You know, you read all these reviews and people expressing the same comments..."I heard details like never before" , "I found myself pulling out all my CD's and just Listening!" ...im there. The one that first Set-in : OOO Baby Baby / Linda Ronstadt. I chose this CD to leave on repeat mode while I was out. I knew my wife would enjoy it. The volume has been set pretty low, so I (we) never really noticed. One hour ago I got home..Oh, Im on days once again. I disabled the repeat mode and began the CD. I was smiling from ear to ear. Yelling for my wife to come have a listen! She was floored. These jewels were invisible (with the toeing) the vocals were so intensely "Real". It all came together in such a way....well I thought about the sayin' "you wont go back" yep. I cant wait for the DIP, and the digital coax. Young & Rollins/salsa flamenca "Julio's Song" is spectacular in every sense of the word! Thanks to: jelliot / chickey / jonM / randy / bitter / macK / talk / shape / kevins / audioflynn / shape / dbflar / mobile / manuel / fini / maxg / colin no kissing butt here, just good ol'respect for all. thanks, -benny ------------------ Monarchy Audio: SM-70 class A amplifier zero feedback Onkyo DV-S535 dvd player(transport) Klipsch Heresy II mahagony finish with riser stands Monarchy Audio Model 33 dac/pre AudioQuest Slate speaker cable / Diamondback interconnects - Bolder Cables digital coaxials>

  5. Thank You All again, The heresy's are still on and guess what mobile, "they have been playing L.M., on repeat" ! I know mobile it was all in fun, I wasnt fired up as you thought i was. The highs are getting "softer", the whole sound I should say. If anyone finds a rega in the used market that may look like the one to buy, let me know. I might as well start now. Thanks, All the cable comments , I have the bolder digital coax on the way. The DIP should be ordered next week. -benny ------------------ Monarchy Audio: SM-70 class A amplifier zero feedback Onkyo DV-S535 dvd player(transport) Klipsch Heresy II mahagony finish with riser stands Monarchy Audio Model 33 dac/pre AudioQuest Slate speaker cable / Diamondback interconnects - Bolder Cables digital coaxials>
  6. mobile, K-tel The company formed in the late '60s and released its first album, 25 Polka Greats, in 1971. The label mostly focused on pop and classic rock, but also released compilations featuring disco, comedy and other genres. maybe you should have kept your distance from "polka songs" . Luis Miguel's label has to be better. Mariah Carey, who had an awesome label, was/is going nuts over "Mr K-tel Miguel" .go figure. ------------------ Monarchy Audio: SM-70 class A amplifier zero feedback Onkyo DV-S535 dvd player(transport) Klipsch Heresy II mahagony finish with riser stands Monarchy Audio Model 33 dac/pre AudioQuest Slate speaker cable / Diamondback interconnects - Bolder Cables digital coaxials>

  8. K-tel, Mo-tel , holiday inn'' I got lost back in Sinatra/K-tel''whew! Ill do some surfin, and get the scoop. One last question before I jump the gun. Should I buy the MA DIP or the AMC CD8(transport) or _______________(transport) Im planning on purchasing either, early next week. thanks, -benny ------------------ Monarchy Audio SM-70 Onkyo DV-S535 Monarchy Audio Model 33 KLIPSCH HERESY II (soon) AudioQuest Slate/Diamondback
  9. Luis Miguel???? LORD. His backing band sounds like something off a K-tel release! Holy sap-a-rama! Ole Sinatra is rolling in is grave with that comparison! Benny, what's goin' on down there in Texas??? Whats up with that?? I was comparing the styles, not recording, and/or band. " he melts the ladies with his voice and lyrics" that was the comparison I was intending to deliver. But, NEVER having the pleasure of listening to Sinatra's stuff, I couldnt compare. Nonetheless, I enjoy the music. Another issue, I jumped the gun and ordered : www.boldercables.com NOW you tell me! what are your thoughts of these cables? ------------------ Monarchy Audio SM-70 Onkyo DV-S535 Monarchy Audio Model 33 KLIPSCH HERESY II (soon) AudioQuest Slate/Diamondback
  10. colin, one of the rig legs for a bass tube, yu will get really killer deep bass, just posistion your house at the sweet spot at the end of the bass leg! I would have to buy a house-boat ! and, then maybe the Navy would send out scouts to see what is throwing off their subsonic radar????? thks -benny ------------------ Monarchy Audio SM-70 Onkyo DV-S535 Monarchy Audio Model 33 KLIPSCH HERESY II (soon) AudioQuest Slate/Diamondback
  11. Okay, Another night. I spent all day "burning in" the system. It has been changing, slightly. Sometimes during that listening process I say to myself, its really not, Im just "accepting it" - or - should I say geeting used to it. I feel a loss of detail, clarity, I once had. Then I really pick up on some dynamics as if its the real "live" sound. I am ready to drop(order) $80.00 on a digital coaxial cable. I really think this should give me more "weight" than the "thin" sound the optical toslink. What do you guys recommend ? Oh, I went ahead and bought tickets for a Luis Miguel concert. He is like the Frank Sinatra of Mexico. I really enjoy his "music". My wife enjoys watching him...hehehe. He utilizes all the right instruments, romance with trunpets, violins, sax, you name it. Orchestra style. (02/07/02 concert time - our seats right about dead center and the first level above the floor seats) This should bring a good conclusion on the sound I need to sort of compare my Heresy's to... RIGHT??? Thanks again, -benny ------------------ Monarchy Audio SM-70 Onkyo DV-S535 Monarchy Audio Model 33 KLIPSCH HERESY II (soon) AudioQuest Slate/Diamondback
  12. fini diffrent subject, but the orange rig from Armageddon, is here at this site. its amazing to see these monsters being pulled in by tugs, into our piers(docks) Ensearch EEX: Try again for the pic. ------------------ Monarchy Audio SM-70 Onkyo DV-S535 Monarchy Audio Model 33 KLIPSCH HERESY II (soon) AudioQuest Slate/Diamondback This message has been edited by BenG on 02-01-2002 at 02:35 AM
  13. Enough...! this poor "bastard" was crying wolf. if it goes to two pages it just shows me Ive got some friends or you guys like to make ridicule...hehehe give me a break... its because of this forum, and all you klipsch gun-ho's im trying to make this puppies comfortable in my house! I was only a guest, then the hook was set. Bammm! here i am, sold the Para's and trying to raise some klipsch's thanks again, -benny ------------------ Monarchy Audio SM-70 Onkyo DV-S535 Monarchy Audio Model 33 KLIPSCH HERESY II (soon) AudioQuest Slate/Diamondback
  14. Sorry for hiding in that cave too long! Im still on night-shift and have been testing the atmospheric conditions on 50 voids on an Off-Shore drilling rig. Then....it took some time to read all the helpfull comments. I dont know where to start...I have left the units running now for 12 hours and going. I placed them 5" from the back wall and they are about 7' apart and pointing straight(no toeing) I dont have the riser stands yet. the bright/harsh sound has reduced. honestly, i thought that this burn in process was b''crap, not the case. i get the feeling as if the system is "getting comfortable" i am still missing some detail of certain musical pieces. they are like faded out somewhat. bass is really shy, cause: no corners avaliable at the present position.(ill work on moving furniture around) i definitely want better cables and a transport. I know, i jumped the gun and feel somewhat (newbie-embarrassed) but what the hell. you guys really help. there is a woodworker coming over on saturday to give me a quote on refinishing(paint) the heresy's to match my wifes furniture. (rosewood, reddish cherry type) My wife said, "thats it, no more switching all the units, buy the cables, dip, and a low priced cd player, and stick to this one" i wont turn off the units ....no mo! possible items to buy here pretty quick: Synergistic silver cables AMC CD8 ?? Silver Serpents Bettercables.com ?? DIP corner placements...and i will update. anyone selling related items THANKS again everyone going the distance, benny ------------------ Monarchy Audio SM-70 Onkyo DV-S535 Monarchy Audio Model 33 KLIPSCH HERESY II (soon) AudioQuest Slate/Diamondback

  16. I paid 900.00 for the Hersesy's and 85.00 for the riser stands(b/o) I dont know what drivers they have. I think I will call Klipsch, not really sure what they can do. If they were to help with a trade-up program I would purchase the RF-5's. I have heard RF-7's with my amp I had not listened to the Heritage line before, I went on good ol' gut and reviews instinct. I had the Paradigm Studio 60's, and before those Boston Acoustics VR-M60's thanks Any more input is really appreciated -benny ------------------ Monarchy Audio SM-70 Onkyo DV-S535 Monarchy Audio Model 33 KLIPSCH HERESY II (soon) AudioQuest Slate/Diamondback
  17. Well, he it goes the good news. I got a call from Don at Sound World (Houston,TX). "Your speakers are here"(Heresy II's Mahagony/riser stands b/o) Now, I have been working the night-shift for 2 weeks (6pm - 6am)i know, horrible. Nonetheless, I was out of bed and in route to Houston at 10:45am! First impression Looks- not to be rude, but cheap looking, (compared to the Paradigm Studio v.2 60's/Cherry-sold) definetly 70's look. I knew my wife would complain. I can live with that, knowing they are classics, right? Bad news- Sound- I have the Onkyo DV-S535 DVD player as a transport / using RS optical toslink /to Monarchy Audio Model 33 (DAC/Pre) / out through AudioQuest Diamondback Inters. / into the Monarchy Audio SM70 / and out through AudioQuest Slate Spk / to Heresy's my initial impression "what did I do?" The sound is annoying, highs end off with "ssshhh" voices(deep) on male or even mid-bass notes sound awesome, but if the voice leaves the lower notes and heads for some higher pitch vocals then I lose all fullnes and get shrill-like sounds. Familiar recordings such as Young & Rollins Salsa Flamenca, I lost detail in every aspect. (im still in disbelief) I really got depressed when my wife said "instead of getting better your going backwards" "you always complian about my dads system (carver/cerwin vega/EV/soundcraftsmen) its blasting, no refinement" "thats what it sounds like" those remarks really bothered me. Still in disbelief I argued, "wait honey, I need the riser stands, Monarchy DIP, BetterCables Silver Serpent Digital Coax, and beter interconnects". I called Don at Sound World and Asked him if he had the "trade-up" program. He said no Another issue the color was tottally off. It did not match the "reddish cherry" audio/video stand, it looks orange/brown. Should I give it a chance? or should I sell them? stressing- -benny ------------------ Monarchy Audio SM-70 Onkyo DV-S535 Monarchy Audio Model 33 KLIPSCH HERESY II (soon) AudioQuest Slate/Diamondback
  18. glad to see that my amp is being recommended! it really is a jem. i auditioned some rf7's at sound world in houston, tx. dong pham was real helpfull. i dragged the sm70 to his shop, and had me a little trip to la-la land. smooth and liquidy. enjoy, -benny ------------------ Monarchy Audio SM-70 Onkyo DV-S535 Monarchy Audio Model 33 KLIPSCH HERESY II (soon) AudioQuest Slate/Diamondback

  20. Keith, unfortunately, when i purchased the AQ cables , i also purchased paradigm studio v.2 60, and the monarchy sm70. the cables i had before were AQ type 4, and bettercables.com premium int. I had the anthem intergrated 2 and boston acoustics vrm60. i should hold on to the cables and test before but i sell them. i couldnt compare, sorry my biggest down fall, being new to this; i take into consideration what others in the forum and reviews comment, on certain purchases i make. -benny ------------------ Monarchy Audio SM-70 Onkyo DV-S535 Monarchy Audio Model 33 KLIPSCH HERESY II (soon) AudioQuest Slate/Diamondback
  21. I am very close in completing my 2 channel system(as you can see in my signature) The Heresy's will be in sometime in mid-Febuary(i hope) My MA M33 DAC/Pre will be in next week. I will place an order for the Monarchy Audio DIP next week as well. Now, In my eyes, not my ears (since I have not heard this combination) my weakest link should be the Onkyo DV-S535 DVD player. My question is, If I am utilizing the DVD player as a transport would there be a noticable sonic difference if it was a CD player? ------------------ Monarchy Audio SM-70 Onkyo DV-S535 Monarchy Audio Model 33 KLIPSCH HERESY II (soon) AudioQuest Slate/Diamondback This message has been edited by BenG on 01-28-2002 at 06:25 AM
