  1. I purchased these from a forum member a few months ago after deciding to finally experience the sound of tube gear. These units came highly recommended from many forum members and, in fact, not only do they sound amazing, they are beautiful pieces of gear. The reason for the sale is that my wife and I are downsizing our audio gear and had to make some painful decisions on what to let go. We really want to pass this great system on for someone else to enjoy. Following is some information from the original listing with some of my additions. Juicy Music Audio Blueberry Extreme w/ Cream (LOMC Option) Preamp Comes with the original manual as well as the following tubes: V1 = PHILIPS MINIWATT ECC81 V2 = AMPEREX ECC83/12AX7 V3 = MULLARD 12AT7/ECC81 V4 = AMPEREX JAN 7308 (not sure if this is a date code or the actual model, it's the only number on it) V5 = SYLVANIA 12X4 Juicy Music Audio pCAT LYNX Mono Block Amplifiers Tubes: (2) ELECTRO HARMONIX KT88 (1) RCA 5R4 GYB (2) MULLARD ECC83/12AX7 (1) SOVTEX 6N1P All in very good condition and functionality. Some slight blemishes (mostly on the side of one amp) but nothing major (See photos). Tubes are the same ones that came with the units when I purchased the package. The Blueberry Extreme preamp and the pCAT mono blocks are sold as a single package. I don't want to separate them (at least not at the moment). I have the original boxes, packing and will ship at buyers expense. $4000 + shipping and insurance for all to the lower 48. I'm located in the Cincinnati-Dayton, Ohio area. Of course local pickup is preferred. PayPal Friends & Family (otherwise buyer pays the fees). I can share more pictures if you're serious. Thanks for looking!
  2. NHT home theater speaker system for sale. Purchased everything new in 1995. Speakers are in good condition overall and work as they should. The piano black finish on all of the speakers is in overall good condition with a few visible scratches and nicks. The speaker grill frames are intact with some minor wear visible on a few grills. This set has been well cared for over the years and sounds great. Selling because we're downsizing. Includes: 2 VT-1A speakers, 2 Super Zero speakers, 1 VT-1C center channel speaker, 1 SW2P 10" passive subwoofer, and 1 MA-1A mono amplifier with built in crossover. $500 OBO. Thanks for looking!
  3. I purchased this in late January from the seller/builder who had posted the ad on another forum. The builder/seller was local to me so it made the decision to purchase it easier. I finally moved it into the family/listening room in mid March and have used it since with my La Scalas which creates the sound and bass I was looking for. The problem is, it takes up way too much space and, unfortunately, it's time to find a new home for it. Below is some technical information on this Custom Devastator sub. LaVoce SAF184.03 18" Devastator subwoofer built and bought from a current *** member. The sub was built with 3/4" MDF, pine strips around the ports and horn, and "Shaker" style pine trim on the front. The driver was purchased from Parts Express on 9/4/20 and installed and used from 10/4/20 on. The seller upgraded to 21" devastators which is why he was selling. The sub has a flush mounted terminal cup with a banana plug connector and 2 pillows inside as recommended. Dimensions - 48" H x 28.5" W x 20.25" D The builder isn't a skilled wood worker so it's not GSG quality and does have a couple of minor flaws. The top hatch isn't aligned perfectly and the horn rails aren't quite straight but neither of those issues will affect performance. Seams are pretty good but the trim added around the horn and ports is slightly smaller than the MDF thickness so those won't appear seamless. This was painted with Sherwin Williams HGTV Black paint from Lowes bought straight off the shelf and is still sold in case you need touch up paint. This sub delivers on performance. If you don't have the ability to build this may be a great option for you as pre-built kits from GSG are very expensive in comparison to this finished product. My asking price is what I paid for it. $350 - Local Pickup only. HornResp Details The model below was calculated with 1000 watts with a 20Hz 2nd order High Pass Filter and tuned to just under 19Hz. SPL Output Port Velocity The seller's understanding is the 2/3 gap on the SAF184.03 is 20mm so within a few mm of that is acceptable which as seen below is less than 17mm with a 20Hz 2nd order high pass filter. 4. I purchased this from a forum member a couple of months ago and he was awesome to deal with. This was my first ever separate DAC and I have really enjoyed it with my La Scalas. However, we are in the process of rearranging the main family/listening room and need to reduce the overall audio gear footprint which, unfortunately, means the Schiit has to go. (Always wanted to do that) 🤣 Selling for what I paid, $250 shipped CONUS.
  5. We did something similar in 2016 and use a dedicated Denon AVR X6200W HT receiver to control three zones. Has worked great and gives the ability to play the same source through any combination of those three zones or a different source in each zone. For music, we use a Chromecast Audio for each zone. For video, a DVD player and Chromecast with Google TV device are connected to the receiver. Everything is controlled through the Denon Remote app and the specific music and video subscription apps. We use an android tablet to control everything. Hope this helps. Sent from my SM-N960U using Tapatalk
  6. Very nice looking setup!
  7. Realizing that I'm a relatively new member of the forum, I will go out on a limb and say that I believe reconstituting those specific threads could really be beneficial to both long-time and newer forum members, for both educational and historical reasons. I will say that I'm somewhat biased given that I recently purchased the Blueberry Extreme w/ Cream and pCATS listed in the Garage Sale forum and am wanting to learn as much about these units as possible. @RandyH000, What are the steps to accomplish this? I'd be willing to make a formal request if need be.
  8. What a great experience that must've been. Looks like Chuck found his calling early on in his life. Something we all strive for I think. Sent from my SM-N960U using Tapatalk
  9. I'd be happy to do that for you and promise I won't prank you. I was first introduced to Chester's Pizza around 1980 and went there often over the next year before leaving for OSU.
  10. That area and campus is beautiful. In fact, yesterday we visited Hueston Woods did some hiking and sightseeing. Were you in a band and do you still play? One of our hobbies is traveling to hear live music, from small to large venues and we listen to a wide range of genres. Although that really didn't happen in the year that shall go unspoken. 11. Thanks for sharing this. Traveled to M. U. from O.S.U. often from '82 through '84 getting "educated" in Tappan Hall. [emoji16] I grew up a bit south of you in Arlington Heights-Lockland. After a college came a stint in the USAF and then job, family etc. Ended up in West Chester/Liberty Township 27 years ago. We visit Gatlinburg annually and have for years. Amazing what you learn about folks as you get to know them. Small world really. Sent from my SM-N960U using Tapatalk
  12. Thanks for the background! Seems very unfortunate to lose all of that history especially for new owners of his equipment. How long have you been gone? Sent from my SM-N960U using Tapatalk
  13. I looked around on the forum and found some information about the Juicy Music gear and see a lot of posts referring to Mark Deneen in my searches but nothing from him. Was he an active participant in the community or just a member?
  14. I've recently posted about wanting to explore using tubes with my La Scalas which I've had for a couple of years. Up to this point I've always used solid state gear for about 30 years. I've received a lot of helpful feedback from many forum members about tube amplifiers and related issues. As a result, I've been researching many different tube amps and watching the various units that have come up for sale on the forum. Recently, a Juicy Music Blueberry Extreme with Cream and a set of pCAT monoblocks were posted which made me wonder if this would be a good way for me to jump in and experience tubes. But I have some questions about these units that I was hoping some could help me with. I have been in contact with the seller via PM and he's been extremely helpful, and, like me, he also recently jumped into tubes. He suggested I post some of my questions here to learn more about this line. First question, what do you know about this Juicy Music gear and would you recommend it as a first step into tubes? Any pros or cons? Any members have experience with these units? Also, my music tastes range from classical to hard rock and mostly everything in between. Thanks! Sent from my SM-N960U using Tapatalk
  15. Just want to give everyone an update a couple of things I've done since my original post. After some of the suggestions in this thread, I purchased a Muzishare X7 integrated amplifier about a month ago through Amazon and used it for two days before one of the tubes began "red plating", which is a new term for me. I switched tubes and concluded the problem was in the socket. Ended up sending it back to Amazon for a refund. Didn't really have it long enough to do any listening or comparisons. Based upon some of the comments here about McIntosh, I went to a local McIntosh dealer to listen to a McIntosh 275 tube amplifier. After a bit of listening they offered to let me demo the unit at home on my La Scalas. For the past five days my wife and I have been comparing it to both my Sansui G-33000 receiver and Sansui CA/BA 2000 separates, listening to a wide range of artists and music. So far, my preliminary observations are that the 275 definitely sounds different than either of the Sanusi units with the La Scalas. I'd describe it as not as forward or detailed, and it seems to soften the overall sound. This was with jazz, rock etc. I also want to say the Sansui's seem to handle the transients in some of my faster paced music better. I'm not sure if these descriptions make sense but these are the words that came to my mind to explain what I thought I was hearing. Is this the "tube sound" that I've read about? By way of background, I've never heard a tube amplifier and have never done a comparison like this before. Any comments or suggestions for additional comparisons, or to just help me understand the differences in what I'm hearing are very welcome. Thanks!
  16. If I was in the market for a new set of HT speakers I'd be all over this and, I'm in the area! GLWTS!
  17. Nice presentation. What amp is this? Sent from my SM-N960U using Tapatalk
