  1. do you still have one port available? I will take it. thanks!
  2. I have a KLF-C7 driver 8" K-1062-KV that needs to be re-foamed for sale. Driver works perfectly except for the foam shown. This probably costs $20 to UPS so $40 shipped to someone that wants a project to do. Paypal preferred. Thanks.
  3. How many outputs total? Could I get a pic of the back as well. thank you.
  4. So I want to invest in a phono preamp but unsure what will work best with my set up. My system is a McIntosh C-28 pre-amp, McIntosh MC2105 amp and my turntable is a Music Hall MMF-5.3 with an Ortofon Blue cartridge. Speakers are KLF-20's with a C-7 center and a Mark Seaton sub. I mainly listed to 60's-80's rock. Even though my Mac's are fresh off rebuilds and completely in spec the phono section of my C-28 is a bit noisier than I would like at higher volumes. All the other inputs are dead quite so I want to get a phono preamp that is quitter. I have looked Vincent Audio products and Cambridge audio products under $500 which is about what I want to spend. Any experiences and advice would be appreciated. Thanks.
  5. HDBRbuilder, Unfortunately you are looking at the short end of the couch... I had it the other way and it was worse. That couch is not long for this room... I am already working on the wife to get it upstairs so we can replace it with a new (single/regular)) couch. A new couch will make things easier with this room/setup. I love the miniDSP idea...
  6. First let me say thank you all for all the suggestions. Ski Bum... I am never adverse to buying more equipment (sub) ... let me look into how make a sub work best with McIntosh C28/MC2105 set up. HDBRbuilder... great suggestion on putting them under the light switches... I could instantly hear an improvement. I am sure I could play with this and move everything around and not have it make as much of an improvement. Seriously, I will be leaving it like this for a while. Now as far as you suggestion to move the couch 180 degrees... if you look at the pic above the nook on the right is where the door to the basement is but the nook on the right is where I have my stereo: That nook is 8 ft wide... would you suggest putting it there? jjptkd... my set up is not hooked to the TV and I do not have plan to do that. I am just interested in a listen area. As for the center, I find it really completes the soundstage. derrickdj1... I am going to look into subs... the room is due for a new couch which will help with the listening arrangement. Chris... thanks for the analysis... one weekend I will have to try your suggestions. I have been listening to The first Firm album while typing and I am still blow away buy the difference with the movement to under the light switches. Again, thanks for the suggestions... onto the sub forum... Member's total reputation
  7. I am have been playing with my speaker placement to discover the best placement for the best bass reproduction. When I finished the basement 5 years ago I had no idea I would be getting a 2 channel set up so the room was built to maximize space, not audio reproduction. About the room, it is long, 46 ft. feet in total. It is 13 ft. wide. The speakers sit in a section that is 8ft deep from the front of the speakers. There is a room behind the speakers. There are two “cutout” just in front of the speakers. The ceiling is 7’ 8” high. All walls are insulated and the ceiling was insulated with sound proofing. The couch I sit on is 10 ft. back from the speakers. Not an optimal room for a 2 channel setup but it is what I have. The speakers in the image below are KLF-20's and a C7 center. All recently rebuilt with Crites crossovers and new driver diaphragms. The 20 Cabinets have been reinforced on the inside. I have moved the speakers back and forth, closers to the walls/corners and the set up below is what I find to have the best bass response. I have tried several of the “golden triangle” formulas and that is how I ended up with this set up. So my question… does anyone have any recommendations/comments/suggestions regarding my speaker placement to maximize bass reproduction. Thanks in advance.
  8. Check out this modification: http://kansascity.craigslist.org/ele/5860760694.html Is he on to something here with the reinforcement modification??
  9. I am just getting back into the game as this is the first year both my kids are at college. I have taken over the kid cave (finished basement) and here is the set up I have assembled (so far): McIntosh C28 pre-amp, just off a refresh at Audio Classics. McIntosh MC/2105 power amp... it will leave for Audio Classic in November for a refresh. The above two units are driving my KLF-20's that I bought restored/updated. I love the sounds from these. I just added a KLF-C7 center that I am driving with a Hafler 9130 amp (set up in mono), fed from the center channel output of the C28. My audio sources are a very tired Harmon Kardon T-30 turntable and a Marantz CD6005 CD player. Overall I really like the set up for my space. I completely agree with the comment above " Speakers disappear, sound stage appears". That is exactly what happen when I picked up the KLF-C7. It was like night and day. That being said these are on my wish/tinker list: A new turntable is not far off and very much needed, a think I have decided on the Music Hall MMF-5.3 I really want a pair of KLF30's... If I can get my hands on some '30 I want to try switching out the C7 center with one of my KLF-20's. I would eventually like to switch out the Hafler amp with a McIntosh MC-7100 amp to drive my center.
  10. I have a pair of KLF 20's and a KLF-C7 center channel but I am considering getting a single cornwall for my center channel... is that overkill? I know it would look great but am I doing more harm than good? Thanks.
  11. I have a McIntosh C-28 preamp and a McIntosh MC2105 power amp running through KLF-20’s. I just got a smoking deal on a KLF-C7 and I would like to use it with this system as my preamp has a center channel. The issue is that my power amp is only 2 channel. Is the best solution to buy a mono amp? Sorry for the 'newbe' question. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.
  12. I grew up listening to music on a McIntosh 1900 receiver with AR14 speakers so from a nostalgia standpoint that is the receiver for me. Not a bad little set up either. I still have that receiver although it is not a part of my everyday gear.
