  1. So what will happen now Steve seeing this is the only way I can contact you as you are not answering my calls or emails. I have given Steve alot of time to sort this out and this was my last resort to end this. Its coming up to 7 months since he says he made the insurance claim and I don't think they are that slack. Ivan
  2. Thanks for all your comments and yes it is true. When I made the decision to buy this I too thought that this was a very good forum with honest members but I guess there is a bad apple in every forum or something like that. Yes Mike Lindsey, that was me. I have made other transations from America through ebay and USPS and they have turned out much better. Thanks again for your support. Ivan
  3. Some of you may remember myram selling an academy earlier this year which I bought and he sent it to me in Australia. It was damaged in shipment which IMO was because of the poor packaging that myram did which was not suitable for international shipment (not double boxed, wrapped in a little bubble wrap). He said no problem I'll file for insurance and everything will be ok. So four months went by and still no insurance and myram was not returning my emails. I found out his phone number and asked him what was happening, what is going on and he says he doesn't know, he hasn't heard anything. This went on for another two months and still no word about the insurance. Then myram put in some call intercepter thing on his phone line and I have not been able to talk to him on the phone either. I called USPS to see if there was an insurance claim pending on the package. I was told there was not. I then asked if insurance had been purchased for the package. Again the answer was no. So Steve didn't even get insurance for this internationally shipped package even though I specifically asked him to. Steve has been lying to me all along about the insurance and thats when I realised the kind of person Steve Howard (myram) really is. A lying, deceptive, pathetic weasel. He took advantage of me being in another country thinking that he could just ignore me. I will be breaking up the academy and selling the parts on ebay as I do not want to repair it. The purpose of me writing this is to encourage you NOT to do business of anykind with Steve Howard from Biddeford, Maine. Thank you Ivan
  4. Thanks for the replys On the volume thing, I just called the guy and asked him about the volume pot and he said it is the volume pot that is mistracking and not how its wired. So can I just get a new one? About the grounding, yes he said that I could have been shocked if I touched the chassis and something else like another metal amplifier covering that was grounded. This is when its turned on of course. Everything is grounded in Australia I think. He grounded a wired on the chassis to go to the step-up transformer that im using and it just plugs in there. Just one other thing. Have you measured how many watts your EICO is actually puting out? He said mines doing just over 11 watts and its almost imposible to get 14 out of the EL84's. Thanks again for your help. Ivan
  5. Hey thats a good idea. I'll have to get some of those. Thanks Ivan
  6. And it is true. This little thing is amazing. I had to get it serviced and all checked out because it didn't have a fuse in it when I recieved it and just to be on the safe side. The guy said that because it wasn't grounded, I would have been shocked by 240v if I touched the chassis and something that was earthed. Anyway so he fixed up that and some hum and he said that the volume control tracking is poor. So when I turn up the volume, the balance is wrong and he didn't know how to fix it. Does anyone know? And this guy used to build tube amps. So its all going good now. Thanks MH for the suggestion. A great way to get into tubes. Ivan
  7. Hi, just received an Ecio HF-81 and there is no fuse in it. Could someone kindly enough peak into there HF-81 to see what type of fuse is it. Thanks Ivan
  8. Thanks for your replys. I found his phone number on an internet phone directories and called him and hopefully everything will be worked out. Thanks Ivan
  9. Some of you may remember myram selling an academy on behalf of a friend at the start of the year. Well I bought it and he sent it over to me but was badly damaged in shipping. It was insured and he made a claim but because we were international and not domestic he said it may take a couple of months. I kept in contact with him to see what was happening but now he isn't returning my emails. I know he is still active on the internet because he has been posting on the avsforums. I sent him a personal message on that board and left a quick message to email me on one of his threds but still no reply. I don't know the claim number so I can't really contact USPS to see if it has been paid out and if they sent the money to him or what. So what do you think I should do? He was a member on the board and I thought I could trust him as other people had bought things off him before. Does anyone have his phone number? Thanks Ivan
  10. http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1339411786 Hey, Just wondering what all of you thought of this. If I get it, it will be my first tube amp and will be running them with some Forte II's. Is there anything bad about this amplifier I should know about or look out for? I have been looking out for a kit but are abit hard to come by in Australia unless I buy one from overseas. Thanks, looking forward to your comments Ivan
