  1. This is the most exclusionary comment I have heard on this Forum to date. I have no other comment.
  2. I'm not confident I can say this here, not sure if I need to remove certain words or phrases, don't know if it really even matters. Probably destined to thread lock and deletion. My contribution to this non-political thread related to the long term care situation: We are moving into a very rough stretch over these next couple of months. It's going to be a record breaking year. The most important thing to keep in mind is that this affects all 8 Billion of us. Nobody will be left unaffected in some form or fashion. Silver lining is there is a good chance that herd immunity finally becomes a reality and this whole thing becomes endemic in the next year or two. There will be untold numbers of unfortunate survivors of this devastation that will require a lifetime of medical assistance. You will most likely not see them, not hear about them, will not be aware of them, but they will be there, and we will all be paying for their ongoing care in some way. This is not the one you want to be wheeled out from the ICU, having recovering from this. I'm not going to get into the specifics on the post-covid medical aspects, but the reality is those numbers are just not being counted, shared, or talked about. That isn't politics, as it is a reality for all nations, for all humanity. At least it isn't now, not yet. Years ahead, you will wonder why something wasn't done earlier to address the long term health care situation. Some of you will one day wonder why you can't find a safe comfortable place for your loved ones, wonder where your final days will be spent, wonder if you will receive the same level of care as you provided for someone that you knew earlier in life. Case counts do matter. Your choice, our consequence.
  3. BTW, Eagles 2022 regular tour tickets go on sale this week. Check their website for info. This IS the last go round for the guys from what I've been told so...
  4. Klipsch Quartet Speakers Like New 5 STARS***** - $650 (South suburbs) One Owner, near perfect condition. Sound is amazing as it is with all the Heritage Line Klipsch Speakers. It will be a long time before you see a set this nice. http://www.audioreview.com/product/speakers/floorstanding-speakers/klipsch/quartet.html https://chicago.craigslist.org/sox/ele/d/crete-klipsch-quartet-speakers-like-new/7430637219.html #20 Brown Grills is less common. Oiled Oak. Noticed the pricing was originally posted for $550, but changed to $650 sometime within the first 5 hours. IMO no red flags, but too far for me to go.
  5. DR, TL, Can I get Forte's sound quality w/ Klipsch monitor speakers? OP. NO. The entire universe we live in functions on the exact same principals of physics, no matter what anyone else tells you. Did someone tell you they make some speakers the size of refrigerators because of their cool factor? Oh, here get this matchbook size speaker instead, but I'm still worried your neighbors will call the cops when you play it all the way up. Buy what ever you like the sound of, fits your ideal space + budget.
  6. Excuse me...Do you have another pen? Mine ran out of ink. Ok thanks. And my report form has gotten wet, can I have a new one?
  7. I wish the forum had a button where I could delete my own posts.
  8. I keep forgetting about that. My confusion comes from this thread being created in Garage, instead of being created in Lounge.
  9. Question on the poll of polls...need more of your input. Please respond in kind... What are the rules of engagement when it comes to equal opportunity? In your own opinions, is there such a thing? Within the Garage Sale Thread, is there a Right Of... First contact? First offer? First negotiation? First refusal? If so how do they apply to both the buyer and seller? If so, should it be written into the TOS on Garage? Thankfully we have a lawyer moderating who can help with the wording, for those of you who are in support of such a thing. If you are against such things, please say so. I yield the floor.
  10. I was once invited into a home to purchase a pair of speakers. I discovered this home was literally hoarded with the most amazing collection of equipment and speakers I had ever seen. The collection was spilling over into garages, attics, into house next door, stacked to the ceiling, goat paths between speakers that obviously had been used on large venue stages, amps that took two people to lift, stuff you could not touch. Just because I was there to buy one item did not entitle or privilege me to purchase anything more than I was invited there to purchase. I could only inquire, but only to a point, or be subject to my own likely dismissal. $$$ did not move the needle either. I know other places I would love to be invited into to even have a chance at making a purchase therein, but they won't even answer the call! Seller holds the item, buyer holds the cash. Buyer and seller can both decide independently who to do interact with, or not interact with. It's a hobby, not a business. So only to add to your comment, I might suggest some may want to add this... Either side has the right to walk away from any sale, or lack thereof, for any reason.
  11. Pre-veneered wood panels have obvious advantages and disadvantages. Plated in sheets of 24K gold? No, but only because it wouldn't sound better? Consideration will likely come down to local availability, shipping cost, actual product cost, in addition to your allocation of time and effort.
  12. How is this part of this topic? I guess it goes with the say anything anywhere anytime theme? Your choice? OK then. Lets use the opportunity to learn something about Forum etiquette on the Garage Thread. Here we go. Derail. I used this to great success on 6 different vehicles. Stopped 99% of the leak. Never paid for a repair after. Lost one vehicle afterward though, due to dry cracked seals opening up wide after use, cost of repair greater than vehicle value. The key is to use this product while your seals and gaskets are still flexible, and definitely do not use when they are like burnt toast and your oil is spraying everywhere. There, I just saved you about $2600 on repairs. You can thank me by clicking here >
  13. @gsgleason IMOP your suggestions will be very difficult, will cost a lot of time and money, and unfortunately will not have a satisfactory result. You are correct in attempting to ask around to find a solution that works better for you. I provided you with three strategies that will likely have an improved potential outcome for you. It would be better to make your choice dependent on your level of experience, ambition, budget, and goals. Your level of personal success will mostly be based on your ability to not over/underestimate those things. First choice Difficulty 2 / Cost 10/ Rewarding 6 1A) Sell speakers, run, buy new speakers, enjoy Second choice Difficulty 4 / Cost 2/ Rewarding 2 1B)Bondo speakers, wood filler, grain filler, black lacquer, enjoy Third choice Difficulty 10/ Cost 6/ Rewarding 10 1)Bondo 2)Sand 80/120 3)Wood Putty 4)Sand 80/120 5)Grain filler 6)Sand 80/120 7)Veneer adhesive 8)Veneer all sides of both speakers with wood species of choice 9)Wood conditioner 10)Water or alcohol based Dye 11)Sand 240 12)Non-Wax shellac 13)Sand 360 14)Water based Stain 15)Sand 360 16A)Speakers kept are in a room full of windows: 3 coats Epifanes Marine Varnish for maximum UV protection 16B)Speakers are not in direct sunlight: 3 coats Spray Lacquer 17)After full cure: hand rub with a brown paper bag 18)Send pics so we can all enjoy
  14. No longer needed post that I wish I could delete on my own, but do not have the tools to do so.
  15. Oh. I thought this was a real thing. The tongue-in-cheek part must have been very subtle, but then I'm usually like
  16. Please share your ideas here in this thread, unfiltered, unfettered, free from backlash. Discussion is potential upgrades regarding programing new features specific to the Forum classified ads thread commonly referred to as Garage.
  17. Having had personal success in the past in the creation of such polls on this and other similar forums, I feel like I can provide structural support for those who wish to create such a poll. One that adheres to the standards of those who also wish to provide input toward the creation of it. Like Travis said earlier, a poll about taking a poll. I have some ideas which I have previously expressed in this thread, but I don't know what everyone else is thinking. I wouldn't want to be so presumptuous to create a poll as important as this without an established time period for community input. I suggest that we all agree on getting together for some good old brainstorming, to ensure a larger representation of all of our ideas are put to work, as best as possible. I have learned that regardless of how well put together a poll is, there are always those who will respond afterward about how they would have liked to change the format of the poll. We all have that opportunity now. Now is the time to speak out about it, and not after we have a running poll. I am stepping back now to allow those who wish to respond, ample space to have their time to speak and be heard. Let's all agree that we should concentrate on hearing from those free thinkers, while the rest of us have a sense of restraint where we avoid stomping on the thoughts that come in before they are even compiled. So, do we agree that this is a time for expression, not indoctrination? I mean all of this in the most general sort of way, and am in no way picking anyone out here, including the member who I have quoted here.
  18. @Travis In Austin And all others, Please allow me to introduce the following as a larger part of the potential solution: The seller feedback rating system option I just noticed that in this entire thread, no one has yet entered into the discussion the seller feedback rating system option. IF YOU ARE THE PERSON CREATING A POLL, DO YOU SUPPORT THE CREATION OF A SELLER FEEDBACK SYSTEM > YEAH OR NAY < , SHOULD BE INCLUDED IN YOUR QUESTIONAIRE in some form. This system will allow for completed transactions and their immediate associated parties an opportunity to provide information about their own experience. Implementation will also go a long way towards our dedicated and underappreciated moderators lives be reclaimed. The only thing left then to moderate in Garage would be reports of fraudulent and unfair feedback not following the TOS. I will borrow the iTrader system for an example as to how this system could be constructed, as I find it simple and effective. Plus there is a nifty pdf that goes into detail that help explain it all. READ THE PDF! linked below. I provided the pdf here for the benefit of this forum, to further along this very important discussion in a more constructive and meaningful way. Reading it and commenting here about it here will benefit everyone. The document is well written, has graphics that help you understand how it works, and is comprehensive in form. I don't have the source code, not a coder either, sorry I can't help you program it. I can help answer some questions, and provide you with more details on my own real world experience using this system. Here are some basics to explain what I am suggesting here... iTrader allows you to give positive, neutral, or negative feedback to the person you transact with, as well as short comment indicative of your experience. You may wish to provide comments related to communication, speed of service or payment, packing, shipping, overall helpfulness, etc. Feedback scores are accumulative and are given a point value of either +1 for positive, 0 for neutral, or -1 for negative. Remember, according to the iTrader feedback must be left when the trade or sale is mutually complete, not before or during the transaction. Only registered and activated users can see links. For example: If you are a buyer or trader, even if you are satisfied with the product in the immediate aftermath of the trade deal, it is worth waiting up to 7 days to leave feedback, in order to allow time to ensure that nothing unexpected happens with your purchase. If you are seller, it would be appropriate to leave feedback within 24 hours of a successfully cleared payment; however, you are certainly welcome to wait until your buyer has left their feedback. How To Use the iTrader Feedback System.pdf Thank you all for your helpful and constructive replies to this.
  19. I drive through Waterloo, Wisconsin all the time. That place is the best. Why did you ever leave? Oh... NM.
  20. I'm very happy for you too. I share your experience with both of my main listening spaces finally coming around these last several years. What I can wish for you the most is that this feeling you have now stays with you for a very long time. Just enjoy what you have, and postpone the My 5X Super Heresy build thread for as long as possible.
  21. I haven't tried real hard to sell them either. If I were really trying here, I would have totally done it different. I haven't listed these anywhere else. I still haven't posted pics. Didn't even mention in the ad that I am including glass tops for the Chorus II's. I figured if someone wanted them, I would hear about it soon enough, and I have, with demands or conditions. Not that I didn't set myself up for that though. I am willing to listen to anyone. I could easily sell higher on a larger platform in this region. I have monitored every sale of FII's and CHII's in this region for the past several years. I know my price is more than right in this area. Mileage price just barely covers my fuel cost, so that is a consideration. I just wanted to keep this between regulars on the forum, so I am keeping the door open. I'm obviously in no hurry, should anyone else be?
  22. Just to make sure you are aware this sale includes a single Forte II speaker, not a pair of Forte II's, plus on pair of Chorus II's, not a single.
  23. Wow! So you paid 100% all cash upfront? Those were the only terms I was given by the seller, with no other payment options. I'm glad someone here got it. I would've loved to have gotten it. I just wasn't good with the terms.
