  1. And there is more. The new brains of the operation. Denon AVR-X4400H directly off the display shelf in the Best Buy Magnolia Design Center and is now sitting on my shelf. I have had too many frustrations with the Onkyo hdmi not playing nice with my other pieces. New things I am looking forward to playing around with that even my up the ladder but slightly older AVR-X6200W does not have are:

    DTS Virtual:X

    whole home audio integration

    smart home integration

    Amazon Alexa voice control

    Heos built in

    Audyssey xt32 multiEQ editor app

    AirPlay2

    5.6MHZ high resolution audio streaming

    AL32 processing

    Auro 3D built in

    Tidal/ Spotify/ Amazon Music/ iHeart Radio/ Napster/ Soundcloud/ Mood Mix built in

WOW. The size and build quality of those extra boards is very substantial. Definitely Not talking about soldering some high end IC chip and adding $XXX for that. If you have the capability to put those extra circuits to use vs any other circuit you can find right somewhere else right now, I am confident the differences can be heard, but to what extent, I have no idea. I really have no idea what to do with it anyway. I don't even have vinyl or headphones.

  4. I just received a email, and placed my order for a new UDP-205. I was one of the lucky ones to have signed up early for late releases. This will be the last run. I don't know how many are available, but my window of opportunity was 3 days or good bye forever. I confirmed the order 2 hours after I received the email. PS. I asked for some more OPPO swag via email, so hopefully that can happen again this time, unfortunately the guys who answered the phones before no longer have a job at OPPO.

    Frequently Asked Questions

    1. I registered to be notified - why have I not received an e-mail allowing me to buy a UDP-205?

The notification e-mail will come from WebApp@oppodigital.com and are sent based on when you registered to validated e-mail addresses. We are sending e-mails in waves for a smoother ordering and fulfillment experience.

    2. I did not register to be notified but I am still interested in buying a UDP-205. How can I buy one?

We are giving priority to those who have already registered via special e-mail links. If there are any inventory remaining after those who have registered, the UDP-205 will be made available publicly.

    3. How can I buy more than 1 UDP-205?

Due to limited supply and strong demand, we are limiting sales to 1 per customer/household. Thank you for your understanding.

    4. I received the notification e-mail to buy a UDP-205 but my special link has already expired. Can I still buy one?

To be fair to others who have registered, we must give them a chance to order a UDP-205 during their window of opportunity. If there are any inventory remaining, the UDP-205 will be made available publicly.

  6. I had a choice, but picked up this at 2000 grade, because it was the only way to get the deal I got which was another $1k off for the floor model. It would have literally doubled my cost to go 4000 grade. The great part about it was the color very nearly matches my Natuzzi set just in case I do change things up at a later date. I don't know what pricing you are looking at with the Salamander, but the other manufacturers/suppliers @Kman spoke of above were all on my radar until I discovered this one locally. Unfortunately I never had the chance to sit in those others. Name brand, power lumbar, and local supply made my choice much easier. I had to give up a 3rd seat. "Just the two of us, we will make if we try, just the two of us, you and I"

Amazing price for a top of the KG line nice looking pair. Usually are selling for double that or higher. Great opportunity for a CL flipper, so better get going on this, because they will not last. Would make a great gift for a loved one. I have owned 2 pairs of these before and the bass is thunderous, but like most 2-ways from that era, you lack the lower midrange/upper bass. They are too far for me to go get, and I am all out of room at the moment.

  8. This is the Palliser I just had delivered Saturday. The guys moving it said it was their heaviest piece, and really hated it because of how hard it was to move. Power recline, power headrest, power lumbar. The wife insisted that the power lumbar was the make or break item for her. I got it for a steal, but MSRP retail $4k, but usually closer to $2700 sell price. As you know 4000 grade would add another $1K or so.20180912_183915.thumb.jpg.c417ab97ec1b7830b2aa18a30fece0c9.jpg

The Monolith amps sure are getting high praise on the other audio forums.

If you are shopping Paradound amplifiers, a member here is a dealer.. Contact MetropolisLakeOutfitters and he can get you great pricing.

I can back up this statement. If you look at my signature you will see I run my Denon AVR-X6200W passive and use the Monolith7X 7 channel amplifier to power all my channels except one pair of height speakers for atmos. I am not going back to the Denon internal amps at least for the remainder of this decade or 2.

  10. New seating. Paliser top grain leather. Power recline, power headrest, power lumbar, and the most important of all...cupholders.

BTW, I will be ditching the TV stand in the above post when I find someone who can use one, it is a bit large for the few I spoke to about it.

  11. Not exactly today, but all this week. Two packages (24 panels total) of Owens Corning 703 acoustic fiberglass insulation. Still waiting on the Guilford of Maine fabric to wrap all of these, but I have started on some of the background panels in my recently converted dedicated home theater space. The wall panels are covered in Royalty Black Velvet for zero light reflections and constructed of 2" frames for a flush look with the screen and future acoustic panel placements.

I have this crazy idea that if I call BDI they'd be able to custom cut me the same kind of tempered glass finish I have on my BDI Corridor. I am sure they aren't equipped to do that, so I'm hoping a local glass shop can approximate the same thing.

I have black granite slabs I purchased from a local supply store for creating tops for mine. Beware granite is slighly more difficult to cut than glass 😉 but does offer more color choices.

  13. Even though I have no personal experience with your specific speakers, I really think you will be just fine. Far better power supplies than some other consumer brands in the same price range. Your ears will tire long before your D/M AVR. If you run 5 channels or more, expect 75 watts continous per channel or less 20hz-20khz, with peak burst of about 200 watts 2 channel 1khz. which does make a perfect match for you on paper. Have a look over at Audiohaulics.com for some good reviews without the BS. and real benchtests.

  14. Common answers have been Marantz if 2 channel is a priority. If movies are #1 or you use external amplification then Denon for the added features and functions at the same price point. I am hoping to purchase a Denon x4400h from BestBuy in the next week or so for $810 or less. I am hitting up the Magnolia sales guys to sell me a floor unit at open box prices, but they will not have x4500h display units for ?days/?weeks so no deal...yet.

  15. I use a 4 foot tall Veriegated Ficus for diffusion. I also have begun hanging fabric panels on my ceiling and upper wall portions. Very soon I will be wrapping 24 panels of Owens Corning 703 in Guilford of Maine acoustic fabric. All DIY.

I know you can cross cut varying lengths of wood 4×4's and nail the cut sides to plywood and hang that on the rear wall for a rather large and obviously heavy diffuser, but it is supposed to work great

  16. From this era, the original Klipsch proper finish is sprayed black lacquer 40 sheen, not oil or water based stain, not latex, not enamel. I have had great success using this in semi gloss. The sheen is only off by 5 from the original black lacquer finish. When I need to buy some I get it at O'reilly Auto.

  17. @SWL I also just received my BJC LC-1 5 channel rca cables to go with the the 2 LC-1's I already owned to fill in the Monolith 7X amp. This came after I returned the Morrow Audio cables I bought from Mike Morrow a while back. Thanks for the 60 day test run. I got tired of looking for another cable, and all of the forums are atrocious when asking about cables, so I just settled. At least I know I won't be hearing any amplifier hum with BJC.
