This unit is almost 10 years old. It only has 2 HDMI inputs and 1 output.  plus remote...

You may be buying someone elses problems. Why no remote? Most private owners have the remote.
Where are you getting it from?

No 3D, no 4K passthru or upconversion...  No Atmos

I would not recommend buying this.

Take a look at the newer pioneer models such as the VSX 1031K.   has it all plus 32 bit audio processing.  $700 list at BB...  wait till its on sale!

or if you dont need atmos and 7.1,  get the VSX 831K  at $500.  There are other great brands too!

You dont elaborate on what else you have or what you want it for other than Stereo with the Cornwalls.  If thats all then why not wait for some vintage iron?  I picked up a Pioneer SA9800  for $40 last summer at a yard sale!

he doesn't explain, why there is no remote. And its off Craigs list. I have a Sony receiver right now, which is used for movies..  Vintage might be more where I want to go. I want to eventually add a amp, to see what my Cornwalls can do. I'm a new owner, I want to explore what my Cornwalls can do.

Why not buy one off eBay with remote for that price

That is a option, the ones I have been looking at are a lot more, or they have slight problems.... Its possible that I could find a different brand. I have Cornwalls that I want to hook up to it

  6. So I have a dilema, I need some advice. I have the opportunity to buy a Pioneer Elite Audio/ video multichannel receiver/ amplifier VSX-81TXV, for $180.00, but it doesn't have a remote. He wont come down on the price.. So my question is...Is it worth the $180.00, or should I keep looking.

You're welcome!  Ronnie Barhams built them.  He and his brother-in-law, Charles Horn ended up taking over from Harry as co-foremen of the cabinet shop at the plant in 1977-78 time frame...Harry dropped back to building Belles, mostly.  Ronnie and Charles continued as Co-foremen until around 1980-81 or so, when Lynn Stevenson replaced them.

I was already building Heresys and Cornwalls when yours were built, but when we were swamped with orders for Decorator Heresys, and I couldn't get away from the Heresy bench to the Cornwall bench behind me, Ronnie or Charles or both would knock them out.  After we went to the "drop-in front" Birch Heresy, daily production numbers increased (mostly because we were able to double up in building them...with me in lead and somebody tailing me), and I had more time for getting to the Cornwalls when pallets of parts were dropped by.  Mitered Cornwalls were still being built using chain-binder corner clamps when I left in September 1983, but the mitered Heresys had been built using a pneumatic box clamp machine since around 1977-78, and when I left they had two (maybe three?) of those machines for building them installed.

That is truly amazing, when I look at my speakers, not only do I see the craftsmanship,  or the amazing sound, I see the dedication, hard work. A friend of mine got me started with Klipsch, I wanted to hear them so bad, to feel the music flow through them.... and as I listen to them everyday, I am so glad he turned me on to Klipsch. I love my speakers, they make me smile and laugh and cry.... and it's nice to know the name of the person who took time to make something  so wonderful... again thank you.

Welcome to the forum Navymom. As you can see, there are a few question to answer to help get you what you want.

For me, and most, to get a real appreciation of what we have it take some sampling and changing. Those speakers will get loud with almost any power source. To get goose-bump details (live music in your listening room) doesn't require a lot of watts or a lot of money. For $200 +/- you can get an old school Marantz, Sansui, Harman Kardon, Yamaha, Pioneer, etc. After listening to them for a period, refreshing the cross overs (XO) as Schu said, will improve the sound a noticeable amount.

I have them connected to a Sony 5.2 ch .... and it sounds amazing, I will try that

Cornwall 1, nice and welcome to the forums. One of my favorite Klipsch speakers. There are many different receivers/integrated/amps that will make these things sing. Since they are so efficient it wont take much. What do you have for a set up now? What kind of music do you listen to? Are you sticking with 2 channel or are you wanting multi channel for movies. This is the fun part of the journey.

Kinda wondering if these were built by me?  First, what are the serial numbers on these (which will give us the year of manufacture). If they were built between 1977 and 1983, there is a very good chance I built them.  While you have them turned around to find the serial numbers, look at the rear edge of the cabinets, on the long panels (sides) up close to the corners.  There SHOULD be two letters side by side, stamped into the edge grain, of the left side panel (as you fact the speaker's rear), with a single letter below that. The pair of letters will be the builder(s), and the single letter below that will be the sander. If you have the letter "A" in the upper pair of letters, then let me know ( I also built these "solo" at times, so there may just be one letter stamped on that line).  The pair of letters MAY have had wood putty put into them, by the sander, but the letters should still be able to be recognized.  Also, if not at that location, look near the bottom right corner (as you face the rear of the speaker)...they COULD be there, instead.

You have great speakers, just keep one thing in mind...if a clean signal does not go into them, you will know it!  If a bad recording is played, you will know it!  Lots of things can be used to power these, but they don't need much power to really sing!

I would go for something that puts out a clean 100 WPC...or less.  Everybody on this forum knows my choice...H/K 430 twin-powered stereo receiver, but there are hundreds of choices available.

    Enjoy them!

I am very much enjoying them and I looked for the letter, and it's a "R", but I was told when I got them, they are from 1977. And if you made these wonderful speakers. .. or any speakers  " Thank you"

I'll assume you like movies as well so, a receiver with pre amp outputs, for sure. That way  you can add a power amp later, if you want. ( you will want ). Lol. I'm thinking you want to know which new receiver brands sound good with Cornwall's, such as Onkyo, Denon, Yamaha, ect. Am I correct ?

You are very correct, also love listening to music, alot...

  12. I'm new to this site and also a new owner of Cornwall speakers. My question is, now that I have these fantastic speakers I need some advice on what kind of receiver would make the speakers help show their true potential. Really new to all of it, so if you have any advice, I would gladly love to hear it20161003_043247_1475717979843.jpg20161005_180545_1475716566274.jpg
