  1. Great deal on mwm's. If I could fit doubles through my doors I'd buy them in a heartbeat. Unfortunately only singles will fit. Great prices, GLWS.
  2. Here's my dilemma, i have Jubilee's that I have been using a Crown itech 4000 for the bass bins but it's been flaking out me so I'm looking for something to replace it with. I can get a good deal on Parasound JC-1 Monoblocks but I have never heard them and was wondering if anyone can tell me how they are particularly for bass duty. I have a Parasound A21 I swopped in for now but the bass seems slow and weak compaired to the crown but the JC-1 have alot more power than the a21. My other option would be to get the Crown repaired or move up to the itech HD series that are supposedly much more reliable than the older versions.
  3. I agree. I spent alot of time listening to the clsc-215's my buddy had and I wasn't impressed at all. Ya they have 2 15' woofers but they are cheesy. The Chorus's I had at the time sounded much better and the Cornscala's I now have would stomp these with a single 15.
  4. Sorry I wasn't clear, I don't have fortes I have Chorus 2. I have Crites crossovers and titanium tweeters in them now. I had good luck with everything except the midrange diaphragms.
  5. Unless the midranges don't work I wouldn't replace them. I thought mine didn't work so I ordered the replacements only to to find it was the crossover causing the issue. The replacements both failed in about 2 months so I reinstalled the originals with no problems.
  6. A friend of mine had the Cerwin Vega clsc -215's wich looks the same as those. For Cerwin Vegas they sounded decent. At the time I had a Pair of Chorus 1 and much preferred the sound of them but never did a direct comparison in the same room. The Chorus sounded more alive, and had better bass to my ears. I thought the bass of Vegas was weak for having 2 15' woofers.
  7. I would really like to see an updated CF-4. I would buy a pair of those long before a Chorus 3, Cornwall 4. Even better a CF-5 with duel 15's and k-691 would be incredible and sell like hotcakes. I have 2 pairs of Crites Cornscala's and they are nice, I don't think a Cornwall 4 or Chorus 3 could beat them but an updated CF-4 or duel 15's probably could.
  8. I must be twice the idiot as you then. I'm putting 1250wpc to the bins now and I'm looking to increase that, not to get more spl but to stay far away from clipping and sound quality. these things come alive the more power they get. Alot depends on the room though, if these where in my living room i could use 1/4 the power and probably get the same results.
  9. Chris sent me the file, took me about a minute to install. I still plan to run REW as are rooms are similar but not the same.
  10. I installed the settings Trent and Chris came up with lastnight and I have to say they sound excellent. I tested the settings on music I have heard a million times and to my ears nothing sounded veiled, everything was there, bass, vocals, micro details, air. I still have Crites passives but I am selling them because the sound of the Xilica is in another league IMO and it can handle the power I'm using where the Crites can't. I had to make huge adjustments on my c50 pre amp to make the Crites passives sound good. I have the passives for sale if anyone is interested in them but I can tell you I wish I went with the Xilica for the start. If I where to use passives I'd be talking to ALK and see what he has to offer. Mike.
  11. I was in a similar situation a few years ago. I had forte 2, Cornwalls, Chorus and Chorus 2 all at the same time. I ended up selling the fortes and the Cornwalls, i still have both pairs of Chorus. The k48 woofers in the Chorus are simply awesome, they sound great at any volume and can handle a ton of power. It's a better woofer than the forte or Cornwall in my opinion. If you don't need to sell the fortes then keep them, if it comes down to one or the other then I'd sell the fortes.
  12. Not sure how they would sound with k691's. Last time I checked Bob never tested the 691.
  13. Very little time on them. Cost $650 new. The HF boards are designed for Faital pro drivers. These can be used with a single amplifier or bi amped. $350+ shipping.
  14. It apear my bins have holes notched out? Thought this was normal until I saw this pic. Here's a pic of mine. It's like that on every "shelf" Mike.
  15. That I am! I finally have a room where no one will complain when things get loud.
  16. Chris, I am definitely going to accept your offer to help me out with the active setup. I'll message you later tonight when I'm home from work with a few options I have. Thanks, Mike.
  17. I love the c50pre, of all the gear in my rack thats my favorite, I like it more than my mc452 amp. I never heard the woofer bottom out at all, it sounded like they where moving a bit when I put some juice to them, my amp was going between -20 and -10 db when the cap went but I did notice the resistors on the board where getting extremely hot. I then swopped in my mc452 amp to see if 450 wpc would also make the resistors get hot and they did. I didn't want to chance blowing anything on that crossover board so I just disconnected the jubilee's. One thing I did with my Cornscala's is I replaced the woofers with the k48 for better power handling and I think they sound way better at high volume.
  18. No they have no bass boost circuit. I use a Mcintosh c50 preamp for eq. The bass bins sounded good with no eq needed until the cap exploded, but I did have to eq the 402 horn alot with my pre, I had to turn down 1k and 2.5k down as far as my pre allows and 10k down about half way.
  19. I would like to know the answer to this as well. It says 1200 watts on my bass bins. I've been told the woofers are only 150 a piece so 300-400 max? I don't get it. I blew a cap on my brand new passive jub crossovers playing one song loud with my itech 4000 on the bins, yet my cornscala's take that power for hours at a time. I'm kinda screwed, ive had jubs now for almost 2 months and been unable to enjoy them. Passives are going back to be rebuilt with better caps and hopefully that will be it, if that doesn't work I'll have to buy a laptop and try active again, or sell them.
  20. Chris, thank you for the offer to help me out with the crossover settings, I don't have the xilica anymore but after I get my passives I'll have a baseline to go by what the jubilee's should sound like. I do plan on giving active another shot and when I do i would really appreciate any help you could give me! Mike.
  21. This! I know I would pay more for plug and play be it active or a passive that's already programmed.
