  1. Ok…here is the skinny. They were originally listed at $2500 and discounted 20% the second day and 50% the third and last day. I offered $1000 the second day contingent on them working properly and they accepted my offer….then determined the tweeters were blown. Returned on third day to offer less but they had been sold for $1250. Thoughts….A pretty good buy for someone. For me…Im ok with missing out at $1000. Would have invested $400 more for Crites crossovers and $280 for Crites tweeters. So I would have had ~$1800 in them….still not bad. But I already have Industrial LaScalas and a Fitzmaurice sub and I love the setup. Not really sure the Klipschorns would have been an improvement and don't have room for both setups so one would have to go. Im not a flipper and dont enjoy selling. So, I will just enjoy what I have and hope the purchaser enjoys the decorators. One final thing…the decorators were originally purchased by an Arkansas museum and the fellow selling them worked there….so kinda like 1.5 previous owners…pretty cool provenance!
  2. $100 off is about what I was thinking. I just purchased new Crites tweeters for my LaScalas. Have never replaced diaphragms but figured on trying it.
  3. On my first visit today I made an offer contingent on them functioning properly. They didnt have any electronics to hook up so I went back with a vintage Marantz receiver and they fired up. Unfortunately both tweeters are blown but both mids and woofers seem to work. Ran up to their closing time and wanted to respect that so I will return tomorrow and make a downward adjusted offer. Also will check for the impressed serial number. One has an original Klipsch pie emblem in a small plastic bag stapled to the back!
  4. Here is the label. Style might be helpful in determining approxmate age but all the handwritten part is too faded to read.
  5. Hello everyone. A pair near me has become available but I cannot determine the age as the label is too faded. I suspect the 70s based on some knowledge of their history. They have Type AA crossovers, K77 tweeters, K55V midrange driver and K400 midrange horn. I have not opened them up to see the woofer. Cabinet is fine and all screw heads look ok…not all torn up. I have attached images of the pair. Any ideas of date…or date range?
  6. Hey Atomic12…….I am still alive and kicking! So sorry you are having issues with this unique set of speakers. Here is what I know. A few years ago I traded them to a gentleman in Benton,AR who, in turn, constructed a Fitzmaurice subwoofer for me. We communicated afterward and he told me the drivers were decomposing as he was seeing black dust and small pieces of cone in front of the speakers. Sometime after that I saw where the gentleman in Cabot,AR had these for sale. The original drivers were in the speakers when I had them. Never saw any cone debris but I really babied them. I can only assume the drivers were replaced after my ownership. Feel free to email me and we can talk about this.
  7. Does anyone have a single all original Kd-RB ( raw birch decorator ) for sale? A 1979 model has become available but I don’t want a single so I’m looking for another. I am in 71901 but don’t mind a road trip. Thanks
  8. I saw it listed as well ....disappeared before the sale officially started.
  9. I agree with crunchman and appreciate his warning. Underhanded to use someone’s photos.....unethical as well.

it is the 36” variety. I had room for the big boy so it was an easy choice. Really enjoying playing around with the setup. Pleased so far

Well, picked the sub up this morning and just finished my first listening....Santana....wow! The builder is a superb craftsman and an audiophile which is a great combination. He is also meticulous and honest so I am very pleased. Will dial in setup as time passes but first impression is impressive..it blends in well without overpowering. Gonna enjoy this awhile!
  12. I just learned about this yesterday and have read the whole thread.....sounds like a blast. Please put me down as an attendee. I will bring a Bill Fitzmaurice THLPT subwoofer (36” variety with a 15” inch driver) if there is interest. Also could bring a nice Knight KG250 integrated tube amp to sell or trade. Can’t wait!

Hi pbphoto....thanks for your answer. I will purchase a nice y-RCA to use...should have just taken the SA100 manual at face value. Still excited about receiving the subwoofer!

So, do I use a single RCA or a Y RCA. I think a single RCA from McIntosh sub out to the SA100 left in is correct but I am not 100% sure. Just being extra careful!

Jason.....I appreciate the manner in which you phrase the financial aspect of things...very considerate. I’m blessed that the cost is not a factor in this case. However, the DSP strikes me as the proverbial black box device even though I understand the science. But, I have followed your postings for some time now and you just don’t post bs or even marginal bs! So I still may follow your recommendation after playing around with what I have...likely just tune to my liking with a nice vintage Pioneer 12 band equalizer (SG 9800). Thanks.....Wm

Aaahhh..ok. I bought the SA100 a couple of years ago but have never opened the package. Too late to return but a reasonable candidate for resale. Never messed with a DSP but maybe it is time. Are we talking a minor tweak or does a DSP move the dial?

Hello.....I am a couple of weeks away from receiving my Bill Fitzmaurice THLPT which is being built. It is a 36” cabinet with a 15” Dayton Audio RSS39HF-4 (15”) driver. It will be matched up with a McIntosh MA 252 integrated amp, a pair of industrial Klipsch LaScalas and a Dayton Audio SA100 plate subwoofer amp. I am getting pretty excited! My question is this.....should I connect the MA252 to the SA100 with a single RCA cable or do I need a split RCA cable. Of course I want to use the entire wattage produced by the SA100 and I read conflicting advice on how to achieve this. PS....the THLPT is beautiful and I will post pictures upon receipt. Thanks......Wm
  18. Did this tube amp come out of? I saw it last night in a Mississippi juke joint where it was on display with a bunch of Delta artifacts. Maybe a large organ???
  19. Kinda surprised but I have only received a few inquiries and only one seemed serious....I figure it is a very small niche market for Fraziers I do have an opportunity to give them to an audiophile who recognizes the uniqueness....in trade he will build a custom subwoofer for me. So, they are just about gone........
  20. I have a pair of vintage Frazier Symphonetta loudspeakers for sale. They have consecutive serial numbers but they are completely different designs....one is a transmission line (similar to a folded horn) and the other has Hemholtz slots. I figure there were actually mono loudspeakers but sold as a pair right at a design change....makes them exceedingly rare. The cabinets and grills are in wonderful original condition. I think the drivers are original but I replaced the caps with some from Crites. I play these with a vintage Knight integrated amp and it sounds sweet. These belong in a Frazier museum if there was one! Please send me a message if you are interested
  21. Ya know, I changed my mind and actually cancelled a pending purchase in an ethical manner. The more I looked at this device the more I realized I had no idea how to work it. And I wasn’t sure what else was needed to make it work. Just seemed like overkill for me. I think I will get a Niles product but one with a button switch for speaker set A and one for speaker set B...nice and simple. I appreciate the advice but I am kinds simple and old school when it comes to my audio.
  22. Thanks USNRET......this little device gets good reviews, appears well made and is readily available new and used....right up my alley! i plan on purchasing one of these and look forward to using both sets of speakers without screwing something up!
  23. I am looking for a quality device to switch between two sets of speakers in my two channel setup. Using a McIntosh MA252 integrated amp with a pair of industrial LaScalas and a pair of Frazier Symphonettas. Don’t want to lose any signal or introduce any deleterious noise. Also don’t need any volume adjustment or ohm selection. Just looking for a well built device with a switch! Any advice????
  24. Yes it is and this is my workshop! I have 40 feet of this ugly industrial grade shelving full of stuff including my stereo. I hung white bedsheets in front of all the shelving which I think helps tidy things up a bit. My LaScalas are in corners about 3 foot off the floor. A couple of big easy chairs finish the decor! I think it sounds good so not much real work happens in my “ workshop”.
