  1. Why ??? It tasted awfully sweet to me, and not exactly what I had in mind either when I got seafood salad. I wanted it spicy and the hot sauce was just adding to the confusion. I ask them and they said 1.5 cups for 6 qts. I have a seriously sweet tooth, however I have realized, I need to have sugar separated from my spicy foods. I'll make baked potato with chili that's got 1/2 a ghost pepper in it. And follow it up with 2-3 gulab jamun's toasted in the oven with a good 2-3 tsp of sugar syrup. Oh I get why you're calling BS now - I am a weird eater, always been. Have you heard kids scream "my food is touching each other" OK I am the adult version of that. I bring back plates from the buffet with 1 item in it. No putting onion rings in the same as the pot roast. Fries and onion rings maybe. I'm a big sweet lover, but has to not be contaminated with fish or anything else for that matter. Cool. Srinath.
  2. This is an excellent point and one that I have wondered about a lot in the last 3-4 months. The reason I have thought about it is - Dr Fung - the guy that treats type 2 diabetics with IF recommends that people with eating disorders don't do IF. I have wondered if I am giving myself an eating disorder. However My wife yesterday said I seem to have eaten less than the usual quantity @ golden corral yesterday. In fact I only ate 6 items. A huge slab of beef out of their pot roast, 1 bowl of seafood salad of which I left 3/4 cos it had sugar in it, 1/2 a bowl of Tuna salad, 6 cheese cake wedges without the graham crust - all of which had very very few carbs, and 4 Pecan pie topping (no crust) 3-4 small pineapple wedges, I bowl ice cream with caramel syrup - possibly 75-80 gm carbs. Nearly all as sugar. But end of a fatty meal, your absorption is so occupied with pulling fat from the food, it ignores it. The order to eat food - Fat and protein, then fat and fiber (these 2 can be flipped or mixed up) then carbs. The human body's absorption preference is fat, protein then carbs. And fiber interferes with everything. So better to go protein first. Cool. Srinath.
  3. Will a small amp like the D75 (I am thinking adcom 535 or a 60 watt rotel 870b) work on a 3 way Jamboree, with I think I'll fit a Dynaudio MD142 mid and a JBL 2405 tweeter ? I may also mount then on the top part of the front baffle, because it would be listened to in a seated position most of the time in this installation. My old house - everything had to be picked up a foot, it had a stand 1/2 and a seated 1/2 made for an interesting experience. Oooo added question - I'll look up too, but would an adcom 535 work well with a Khorn ? Cool. Srinath.
  4. Also I have 1 more point to add to the way this thread has evolved. I have posted daily logs and my full on progress on a proper diet and weight loss forum. And not got any criticism. I do daily weight posts as well as after every sucralose drink there, plus how much water I'm drinking etc. No one has said "you're gonna kill yourself" and that's even those that don't follow this plan. Cool. Srinath.
  5. I have a couple EV's I am hoping to see if you guys can identify, cos they aren't identifying themselves. First one is - Those are 12's - the driver itself is a 12trx, but was that a complete model sold by EV ? and what is it called ? This cab is all plywood except the front baffle, which appears to be very very crappy MDF or OSB. Now I have that same driver in a smaller cab the guy swore up and down was a klipsch heresy that is all plywood. It looked like a heresy till I opened it and found that 12trxin it. Thanks. Srinath.
  6. Will keep it in mind Jim. The EV cents are buried deep in my old house. I'm probably going to misplace the parts for it if I get it now. Cool. Srinath.
  7. In certain pockets of the world there are some oddities. Very low body fat in the 3.5% range and heart disease rates unheard of - Kitavans in southern Africa. 100% carbs, AKA - Plants, not coke. A few other islands in the pacific. Again same thing. Super super high fat and no carbs. Fish eaters. In the US I found it was easier to flip to the extreme a few months than keep moderation for the rest of your life. Cool. Srinath.

Research and proof is easily available. Look up "Dr Fung Fasting" - I'd suggest Intermittent fasting - but that sends you down the rabbit hole of body builders and their BCAA's and carb loading and what not. This is the good news for you. 1. Till you hit the diabetic check point, you dont have do to nothing. Because its so effective, you can kill it rather quickly and permanently. 2. Alcohol, especially hard liquor, especially the good stuff, is good for insulin sensitivity and will postpone it, as will apple cider vinegar and a lot of other things. 3. High intensity exercise is futile if you're really fasting past the 4 day mark, and if you're avoiding carbs. Its down right counterproductive if you're doing both. Light exercise is almost required, and till I started slinging audio from place to place I was doing good on it. I restarted last week in a pathetically cold day and got frost bike in 30 seconds flat. Get a good set of labs on your bio markers especially visceral fat and insulin level before you start, it is easy to see the progress there, and you will not have time to get it after you start, because you will be done by your next annual physical. A DSM-BIA machine (or I've heard some gym's offer body scans) is almost a must. Easy to see progress there even if the weight stays the same. Avoid anything made by a factory till you find how it affects you exactly. At the component level. For example I was drinking atkins shakes till sept 17th when I started IF. Promptly the stalled @ 219 lbs weight started falling off. I believed everyone who said sucralose is to blame. Nope, the last 3 days on sucralose, I lost just about 2 lbs. My normal loss rate. Sucralose dont cause a stall for me, its likely the massive AUC of Whey. I should eat straight whey for 10 days and check. LOL. Cool. Srinath.
  9. That's fine, but you were talking about 1 side of the function of insulin, I was talking about the other side. You have underlying assumptions like the muscle cells and other body are able to take up glucose, I have the opposite condition. In a normal person with high insulin sensitivity you are correct. T2 Diabetic, your idea will crash and burn, and it has in 95% of people who try it and succeed. Cool. Srinath.
  10. LOL, I concur. Check this brilliant piece of logic. My in-laws being diabetic, 15 yrs ago switched their sugar in coffee for Splenda. Awesome, 5 gm sugar X 2 per day eliminated. Then they eat 3 courses of white rice for lunch and dinner 7X a week, a grand total of ~30 lb uncooked a month for 2. So basically they eat 27 lb of sugar as rice, and have "eliminated" 300 gm about 3/4 lb of sugar a month. Awesome. Naa South Indian diet is horrendous, combine it with the North American lifestyle and you're pretty much a walking disease. BTW, so is the Mexican diet. You can live on these diets only if you have the hard scrabble life that used to exist in those places 50-100 yrs ago, but then again life expectancy there 100 yrs ago was in the 30's. So if you're gonna live a hard life and die by 30 doesn't matter what you eat as long as you dont die in the next hour does it. Cool. Srinath.
  11. LOL, the 6 or so speaker singles I have some for over 5 years should all been paired off by now. I understand, whole speakers are different than components. But my EV cabinet is fully pre drilled for 823 and T35 I already have and the X8 and X36 combo. And a cent is shorter, gerogian is 55" tall if I recall, cent's are 48". Much of it is the bass bin but I am not sure the upper cab is even big enough. Its OK, I will live. Don't need everything with EV written on it sitting around me. Cool. Srinath.

Oh, my doctor told me earlier today, you get your gut micro-biome (he wasn't that a 90's movie with Pauly Shore ???) right, you can pretty much forget about getting any microbe related illness. apparently most of your immune system is in your intestines and the bacteria in it. Thanks. Srinath.
  13. You dont happen to work for fannie mae do you ? Anyway these guys are co workers. I keep the insanity hidden from my co-workers unless I know they're nuts too. Then I lead them right down to the nut house. My EV cents were sprayed over a 150 mile radius and a 3 yr period. I already had the T35's, but I buy the cents in eastern NC, the 823 in a local flea market and the woofers out of a commercial installation 100 miles away. I get the X8/36 set and att's and I'm home free, and I suspect atleast 1 XO with the top mounted att is sitting in a cab I have to carefully dismantle - BTW I am going to put pics of that EV - I hope I am not destroying something very unique and of serious value. Its a 4' wide X 3' tall X 16" deep with a triaxial on 1 side and a single 15 on the other. Cool. Srinath. Cool. Srinath.
  14. Nope. Its more like the cells are where is insulin, where is insulin, lets us use the receptors to look for it. AKA, insulin sensitivity. And "who knows when we're going to get more food" = "lets hunt and find an animal to kill" for 4 days. Then its a return to normal for 9 more where your body says lets see what we can grow or something. Its more like, life is hard, lets skip all the useless meals. Better yet, dont even bother with the whole buying of rice and storing it and cleaning it and cooking it and eating it and cleaning up after. Seriously, we have like freakng 12 kinds of rice in my house. Dude I am a meat eater stuck in a Vegetarian south Indian house. And no I aint leaving her. I was raised in a vegetarian house, so this is familiar to me. 20 kinds, well, were are the rest is what I'd ask. OK, yea food is fun, but its also mundane and time consuming and routine and labor intensive and effectively this process eliminated all of that, just kept the fun. I made a mega monster thanksgiving meal for me and my son. And skipped the 30 days of left overs by fasting for 20, eating out for 4 out of the next 6 meals and well, now I have the left overs, and will deal with it when I start eating again. Also the timing was phenomenal in my life. I am moving a house with a billion things 100 miles to a house that is on some bit of acreage but needs a big addition built on. Food now just gets in the way and worse yet, since thanksgiving, I have gathered up a lot of stuff from various places. again a 1/2 hr-1 hr for food, more if it has to be balanced and better quality every 3-4 hrs = huge drag on my time and $$$. No, sometime soon I'll be transitioning out of this and eating more often. Balanced meals dont work to lose weight, eating often doesn't help even if it is calorie deficient. If you must eat a balanced meal and I do, and be calorie deficient and lose weight, it has to be done in 1 meal a day, not in 3 or more. This to me is like explaining to someone walking around with a pair of plastic earbuds that say "Klipsch" made in china, that since 1949 Klipsch has been making speakers, some of which are made of real wood and the size of the average refrigerator. And he goes, naaa they make these new plastcky crap in china man new, its the best. Anyway my doctor discussed my labs from Oct. All of it excellent. Cholesterol used to always read high, but they say you got more good, but still its a caution. Not this time. Only item that was a shade high was Uric acid. And that day I was 40lbs heavier. High BP has followed me since my teens, and/or high pulse. If close to 120/80 I'd get pule over 90. If I got 140/90 I'd get a pulse in the 60's. Today for the first time since my measured history 100/70 and 53. He said Low, but that's good for you new body size. I also spoke about it more to my phlebotomist (who I knew was doing IF but at a lower intensity) He said he's still losing wt @ 148 eating in a 6 hr window. He's smaller than me, and shorter. He's been doing it 2+ yrs he said and has now lost nearly 50 lbs. This is the cleanest, safest and IMHO evolutionary correct way to lose weight. If you ask me, for any one who ancestrally spent more time in Europe is conditioned through millennia of fasting. My ancestors are from Africa > Mesopotamia > Indus > Northern India > South India. Essentially I evolved out of fasting and started to evolve into "detecting rotten food" around the time that Northern India > Southern India happened. So I have a few more bitter receptors in my tounge. So I can genetically take a bit less fasting, but detect rotten food a wee bit better than a Caucasian. Now if you were pure African ancestry, I can see how you are capable of detecting rotten food like nobody's business but cant fast ... but wait. No, Africa has drought too historically. Likely your ability to fast is less than mine, which is less than the corresponding European. Sorry man, the proof is in the pudding. Insulin controls it, get that low, and out comes fat. Nothing more to it. Cool. Srinath.
  15. I have one of those moments coming up too I'll bet. Now I wouldn't qualify would I. Cool. Srinath.
  16. Mine had an 823 (If I recall) which I have got in a separate lot, and I am going x8 and x36, cos x336's are impossible to find, and besides the cabinet has nice pre drilled holes for all these to fit back in. I will pass. So close and so tempting, if you had a pair - GLWTS sir. Cool. Srinath.
  17. Self control - a lot less than you'd think. 24 hours after eating are the worst, especially if you've eaten yourself out of ketosis - which in my case means 4 cokes back to back, maybe even more if I have eaten a lot of fat and fiber ahead of it. Past that 7-8 days are smooth sailing. I have random days of shutdown mode. Like for example, I have a 6 mile drive to work, and a mega sized pick up truck that never even warms up for 25 miles. My office is under 70 and the building guys wont increase it, its old and drafty as hell, and there are spots in the 50's I'm sure. My wife wont have the house at higher than 72, and the thermostat is in the middle of the house and lets be honest - its a glorified trailer. Its new, but its a trailer with a few dozen extra 2X4's. That is what makes it hard. Oh yea, till Christmas week, my truck had no heat and Thanksgiving through Dec 15 was my most hectic period in recent years. Anyway, I am going to knock the visceral fat out, and return to a eating plan that lets me keep my weight and that fat out. I'm thinking I'll calorie count and watch how that goes. I like sweetened tea as well as rich white chocolate laden espressos and Indian desserts, and heck, I'll be scarfing down a whole cheese cake and a whole pecan pie later this afternoon. I'll calorie count, but I'll still be counting some huge numbers. BTW I hope this DSM-BIA is correct, cos it has a BMR calculator. I'll try to go by that. If it fails, that POS will get sent back and a better one will be bought. @ $75 the stupid thing better do what it says and do it well. If it fails I'll have to revert to fasting. I like the idea of hitting the buffet, so I cant see myself not doing that. So I guess I'll binge and fast atleast for fun atleast a few times a year. Cool. Srinath.
  18. The sad thing is - I have a second cousin who I love like a sister cos she grew up much much closer to my house in India than my first cousin. So I ended up seeing her a lot more, right when she was a baby on ward. She's now in the US and has had a bit of a tough life personally (and we injuns like to complain about divorces and what not a lot) and she is a nutrition professor. I listen to her, put away that information for my maintain phase, and do the exact opposite. I have been called the worst things by my own family. 2 quick examples. You look like a skeleton in a trash bag - My wife. You fast like Gandhi, you're ending up looking like Gandhi - My brother - though its retaliation for telling his wife and kids that he looks like Gandhi (face) not body. He's 145 or so lbs, 5' 9" but has never been over 175 or had any health issues. Was not blessed with a sweet tooth like me or my mom. This is the first time I've seen someone with a triple sideways chin. Unknown gas station girl when I told her I lost 80 lbs. I've heard it all. In fact I'll be happy to surgically and correctly inject 30-40 lb of the fat back into the correct location. Cos I cant be buying any more pants, and I have a ton of awesome 36 and 38's I bought in the 90's I'd like to wear. Not the 32 and under I have to wear now. Cool. Srinath.
  19. You have 1 - not a pair ??? And Blueprints for Georgian ??? Man you're killing me I have a centurion - this should fit and is one correct mid/high driver for that. However as with all things electrovoice - mine was fitted with T35 and a separate mid horn and instead of the x336 it had a X8 and x36. BTW a lot of my teammates @ work are in the reston area. I'll have to think it over. Cool. Srinath.

    Visceral fat

There are 3 kinds of fat in a human body and in most other animals. Actually, probably more, cos the brain is nearly all fat - omega 3 FA's. I'll just stay with humans, but people who render animals can pitch in about animals if they like. But, starting from the top. Literally - Brown fat. Neck and brain stem area. 20 gm or so worth. Lose this and major health problems, very very essential fat. But this fat is heavily protected, to the extent, you will erode organs before hitting this. White fat. This is everything you see. Relatively in consequential except for appearance. Provides you with fuel for a famine when needed. Can be several 100 lbs and not cause issues. Looks bad mostly, especially if its in the wrong places on the wrong gender LOL. Visceral fat. This is behind the abdominal wall, between and in some organs (liver and pancreas) maybe 20 gm worth. This is the cause of 90%+ of health problems in the world. This is why a 400 lb smoker drinker doesn't have diabetes, while a 120 lb clean living guy could - Both are Co-workers of mine. Non alcoholic Fatty liver disease is about 10-12 gm in your liver. Type 2 Diabetes is 1 gm in your pancreas. So far its pretty clean and accepted as fact by the medical community. Someone who develops a nano particle that when injected into you blood stream will get to the pancreas and get this fat out and flush it will be a gazillionaire. Or - S/he'll be persecuted as a criminal by the pharma industry. How to get rid of it. OK complete conflict here. Some doctors say clean good food, some say lose weight, say you have 20 gm of this and 200 lb extra white fat, you lose 100 of the white, 10 of this goes with it. Some say you have to lose most of 200 of the white fat before you start on this. My thought is this. I do believe good food habits will keep it from getting deposited. But once it is there, you have to lose most of the bad fat before this will go. Once it does go, you have to stay in a fat burning mode and go to a clean eating habit for a while to disable the visceral deposit mechanism. That 20 gm (or whatever it was/is) is what I am trying to get rid of. It may be accurately (or inaccurately) measured by a BIA scale, but one thing even the inaccurate ones do apparently is correctly detect changes in it. Say it read 25. And 6 months later it read 12.5. That means 1/2 of it is lost. The beauty is, when its gone and stays gone, you can do anything you like and not have any health problems. I think it still doesn't cover smoking though or microbe related ailments, but just for food - anything goes. I'll keep you guys posted when the scale shows up and how I go from here. Worst case I can measure impedance of these new klipsch'es I got right. Cool. Srinath.
  21. You're confusing cause with cure there. Ice cream when low insulin will spike insulin like a MOFO (sugar and dairy protein both are very insulinogenic) Ice cream when high insulin will spike insulin worse. In some ways straight up sugar - the worst most vilified version - glucose - will cause a sharp spike which fades out very very fast. The "better food" no fat whey protein found in everything - especially all the weight loss products will cause a jump in insulin which fades very very slowly. With all insulin calculations what matters is "area under the curve" AUC and that could be higher for whey than glucose. When insulined up if you're calorie deficient, you'd burn muscle or other vital body parts. To stop that, you need to get calories without insulin. If you crave sweet - try Heavy whipping cream (that is all fat) in black coffee or coffee sweetened with the above mentioned Artificial sweetener. If you crave spice try Mayo, horseradish and texas pete. Or pepperoncini and habanero. Garlic, chia seeds can be added but they have some carbs - just don't go 90% - a little bit is OK. If you're insulined up and calorie surplus, you're going to nicely pad various parts of your body. No worries, a 3-4 hour run should just about work much of that bucket off. I'll start a new topic guys. This is gone way over my head. A DSM-BIA is a very accurate scale with a handlebar and a dash board. It measured impedance between 8 points in your body (hey you could rig it to do the same for speakers and amps LOL) and produces numbers for visceral fat among other things. Cool. Srinath.
  22. That's because your new way of eating has not addressed your core issue. Insulin sensitivity. Here is a bit of good news. Alcohol increases insulin sensitivity. But I'm afraid, all the rest of your new diet is worse. Some of it far worse. I better start a new topic this thread is getting haphazard. I have since discovered, I can go back to my old Way of eating and probably get to that bad state in ~20 more yrs. Then repeat this. Cool. Srinath.
  23. Most of em are old school clunkers though. I am "the Buddha" on GSTwin.com, which basically accounts for 1/2 the crap. There is 2 with a GR 650 motor, one GR itself, a couple MZs. Newest one is a 03 SV1000 which a barn fell down upon. Honestly, I've heard of bikes hitting barns, this maybe the first instance of a barn hitting a bike. But a Quonset hut with snow and ice piling up on it will happily cave like a pringle chip. Seriously, that's its design prototype. Cool. Srinath.
  24. Stress is way down in the last few months, especially since the thanksgiving weekend. My wife and I fight a lot less, and actually once a couple of items are settled about my old house, we'd be truly stress free. Or very very low stress. And NC and SC is worse than CA I used to live in CA, now in NC/SC area ??? are you sure this isn't a weather map ??? wait, NJ and NY - been there too, same as CA ??? Never mind, it must be darker when there are fewer people from India. That's one common factor I can think of. Cool. Srinath.
  25. You forgot weeds. After 13 days I ate weeds. You don't know what's in the container. Lets just say, the Khorn aint the only one that's gonna make anyone's eyes pop. Even in a hardcore Klipsch forum. OK. And TBH - the bikes are not even in this house. Cool. Srinath.
