  1. Thanks @derrickdj1 and to all who volunteered their opinions. I couldn’t lose with either package I chose but in the end, the money won out. Looking forward to getting everything set up and see if I experience any of the brightness others talk about. What some consider bright and harsh, others appreciate as detail. Hopefully the “warm” sound of a Marantz SR7010 matches well.
  2. Thanks @Youthman the free advice here is so helpful, folks should charge a fee!
  3. So I ended up going with the RF7-II pacakge in cherry with the RC64-II, pair of RP-240s, and 1 R-115SW. Cherry RF7-II’s are pretty much gone but I found a dealer with a remaining pair who gave me everything for $3399 brand new A stock but without the Marantz SR7011, but I already have an SR 7010 in my living room powering my RP-280’s I could move to this system. Now I am saving $700 over the RF7-III package. Hope I made the right choice and will be happy. I just couldn’t get over the fact the II’s look better than the III’s with the all front wood veneer and the III’s look almost the same as my RP-280’s.
  4. Happy to report I ordered the 15
  5. On that front wall, there will be no space for it because the RF'7s will go there. I'll post another pick of the room.
  6. Thanks @Youthman I was worried a 15 would be too big for the room and if I could save some money by going with the 12" if it would give me 90 percent of the 15".
  7. Which sub would you recommend in this size room placed directly behind the couch? Will be pairing with RF7’s. R-112SW or R-115SW
  8. Im so sorry for the confusion everyone, but i typed it wrong (in a rush on my iphone) and looked back at the math and actually package A is $400 more than package B. @dmb12679 @fuzzydog @Grizzog @wvu80 @willland Please update your suggestions. Thanks so much again I apologize.

  10. Package A- Pair of RF-7II’s in cherry, RC-64II Center, pair of RP-240s and 1 RS-115SW sub, Marantz SR-7011 receiver. For $500 more: Package B: everything up above but I nstead of the II’s, RF7-III’s, RC-64 III. No Marantz receiver. Which would you go with. Has anyone heard a comparison between the II’s and the III’s? I like the look of the II’s better but if there is a huge upgrade in sound that would sway my decision. Are the RP-240s for rear surround speakers food with this package? I already have the RP-280’fs running in my living room on a Marantz SR-7010. The system above will be for basement music/movies. Thanks for the help!

  12. How come there is no RF-7III atmos speaker (RFA7-III) considering the new RF7-III’s are trying to model the reference premiere series? The RP-280FA’s include a 1” tweeter and 4” height driver. How about a RF7-III with a 1.75” compression horn tweeter and a 6/12” height driver?
  13. Instead of paying $500-$1000 for a warmer sounding receiver, just upgrade the speakers to the RP-280f’s which are not as bright and are a huge upgrade to your current speakers. You get the best of both worlds, a warmer sound and speakers that are much better than what you currently have. Call Mike at Acoustic Sound Design or pm @MetropolisLakeOutfitters for pricing on the 280’s you will save some serious money.
  14. I have a 60" KS8000 in my living room and I am looking at a 75" in my basement however the new MU series is not a replacement for the KS rather a step down (no Quantum dot technology) so you have to step up to the pricier Q7F just to get quantum dot. However, many say the KS series is either the same or better so save some money and grab one (if you can still find one of course).
  15. There are 2 different parties, those who already have RF7-II's and have to make a choice whether or not the price premium is worth it to go through the hassle of replacing them with the III's, and those (like myself) who are sitting around ready to purchase a set of 7's but would like to first hear comaparison's of the II's and III's to make a choice whether or not to pay $1800 a pair (II's) or $3600 a pair (III's). That is a large price difference. Of course, III's can be had cheaper than that MSRP by an online authorized dealer but regardless you are going to pay more than the II's. It really comes down to whether newer is even better. For example, 2016 model year Samsung 4K TV's are a fraction of the cost of newer equivalent 2017 models, but based on many reviews and expert opinions, the newer 2017 models are not noticebly any better at all and in some cases worse so they reccomend grabbing the older sets. Speaker and TV technology work slighty different. Well maintained speakers from years ago can still outclass brand new models. Especially with speakers it may not be an actual upgrade, rather just a difference in sound. Is the difference in sound that substantial to justify the price cost? The II's may be brighter, the III's may be warmer. Some prefer the brighter sound for movies and some prefer a warmer sound for music. It appears that the II's were a big upgrade over the original RF-7's in looks and sound. Personally, I prefer the looks of the II's with the front faced wood veneer over the III's. It really feels like a big step up over the "little brother" RF-82's. I don't feel the same way about the III's. They seem too closely matched with the lesser RP-280F and almost look identical except for size. And you can even get real wood veneer on the RP280-FA's with Atmos and those are only $1600.
  16. Sorry, looks like this same discussion is going on over in the Lounge section.
  17. Has anyone heard the RF7III’s yet to compare to the RF7II’s? Trying to decide whether or not the new version is worth the price difference over the deeply discounted II’s. Any thoughts on improvements?
  18. Trying to plan out my basement setup. I received a quote from an authorized dealer of $3600 for the following: 2 RF7II floorstading speakers (Walnut color) 1 RC64II center channel (Walnut color) 2 RP250s surrounds (Walnut color) 1 R115SW subwoofer I can add a Marantz SR7011 for an extra $900. $4500 total for everything. Is this a good deal? Any suggestions on whether or not I should do bookshelves (RP160m ) for the rear surrounds instead of the RP250s? I heard @MetropolisLakeOutfitters also gives good pricing on Klipsch products. Thanks
  19. So there's an RF7-II owners thread, why not a thread for the flagship 280F Reference Premiers? I've had mine for a month paired with a Marantz SR-7010 and they sound amazing running 2 channel for music and movies. The bass is insane! These are an excellent value for the cost of these speakers and they look high quality in my living room (even if they are only wood veneer). I saved over $1,000 by not going with the RF-7's and for my needs in my space, they excel. Other happy owners chime in on the 280's, impressive sound quality, enhancements over the previous reference series RF82-II's, and whether or not you do not miss jumping up to the big brother RF7-II (if you aren't blasting past the sound barrier in a 5,000 sq ft room)
  20. I just had an RP-280f woofer replaced after only 3 weeks of normal use it developed a dimple in the cone. You can call but they will just send you here: http://support.klipschgroupinc.com/ On that page you have to open a new ticket and put in information about yourself, a detailed description about the issue and attach your invoice from the authorized dealer(warranty claims are only fulfilled from authorized dealers). I actually called first and spoke to a rep who told me to do this and he would immediately get the woofer sent out. A week goes by and i haven't heard anything or see any updates on my claim. I call back, speak to another rep and come to find out the previous guy never even processed my claim. Said he must have forgotten Not a good feeling first time dealing with them, however the woofer did get shipped out pretty quickly. I got the new woofer and everything looks good except there a couple minor bends on the edge of the woofer basket. Not enough for me to go through the hassle of getting a replacement though. Just submit your claim but check back in with them for updates.
  21. Why do people crossover excellent big tower speakers like these? The sound production of all frequencies on these things are wonderful. I run mine full range. Play them as they were engineered. Why limit some of their capabilities? Like putting a speed limiter on a Ferrari! Otherwise, you could have gotten the same result with bookshelves and a good sub, saved your self some space and $600.
  22. Yes I did, I did a factory reset on the Marantz and did not run Audyssey. It sounds amazing!!
  23. Why are you not sure if that current receiver is "good enough"? It has 7 channels, you are only using 3. It has 100 watts per channel, more than enough to drive your speakers to painfully loud levels without distortion before the cops come knockin. It is a good midlevel receiver the same as the other two you mentioned except they are newer with a few extra features you most likely will not use. The newer Denon and Onkyo are $1500 and $1300 respectively. In my opinion, you would just be throwing that money away.
  24. I have a Marantz SR-7010 running RP-280's only set to large. I hooked mine up and noticed that the volume was low with little bass no matter how far I cranked it up. I did a factory reset on the Marantz (googled) and did not run Audessy. This did the trick for me and now I am impressed :-)
